UFO News Article:
“MYSTERIOUS OBJECT”
10 October 1970
(The Derrick, Oil
City , Pennsylvania )
Source: ufonewspaper.blogspot.com
The whole article:
“Kevin Porter, 14, of 506 Kennerdell St. , Rocky Grove, saw a
mysterious object in the sky while delivering The Derrick at 5:30 a.m. Monday
(5 October 1970). He described the object as being an orange colored ball
before it got bigger and turned green. Tails developed on the sides of the
object, and as the tails got longer, the UFO turned blue and looked like a
comet he said. Then the mysterious object turned white and started to fade
towards the east. Kevin said he wasn’t the only one to view the UFO. He said
his mother saw it, and an employe of the Polk State School saw it.”
I am not saying this UFO incident occurred at or near
an oil production facility. But the unknown object appears to have flown in the
general direction of Oil City ,
Pennsylvania . Pennzoil Refinery
was located in Oil
City . Rocky Grove is
located 10 kilometres
(6 miles )
south west of Oil
City .
Throughout the years – a whole host of UFO incidents
have occurred at or near oil/gas wells and oil/gas production installations/facilities
around the world.

UFO Report:
“The 1969 UFO Chronology”
Created: 15 December 2006
Updated: 3 December 2016
(NICAP.org)
Quote from the UFO report:
“This chronology (now 6 pages) includes UFO incidents
and related events for 1969. Our thanks for these chronologies must go to our
documentation team: Richard Hall (the original 1969 chronology from UFOE II),
William Wise (Project Blue Book Archive), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), and
Brad Sparks (Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns). Last, but
not least, our thanks to Jean Waskiewicz who created the online NICAP DBase
(NSID) that helped make it possible to link from the cases to the reports
themselves. The latest reports come from Mike Swords.
On. December 17, 1969, Secretary of the Air Force
Robert C. Seamans, Jr., announced the termination of the two decades of
operations of the highly visible AF investigation of UFO’s, Project Blue Book.
This was only the announcement date, not the actual termination date, but the
AF release was worded in such a way as to suggest immediate termination of BB.
In fact BB did not terminate until Jan. 30, 1970, at 3:30 p.m. EST, as NICAP
found out and published in the May 1970 UFO Investigator (p. 3a).
In the last year of its official existence, Blue Book
received 146 UFO reports of which only one received the unidentified
classification. For the 22 years that the Air Force investigated UFO’s it
received nearly 15,000 reports of which some 587 were classified as
unidentified. (Air Force press releases listed the total number of 701
unidentified in the statistical summaries of yearly totals. But today only
about 587 are listed by UFO sighting date and location in the declassified
monthly indexes.) Due to diligent research, the number of ‘unknowns’ has
doubled from that 701 figure to more than 1,600 in Brad Sparks’
revised catalog, and may reach as high as possibly 3,000 to 5,000, based on
estimates of the late Dr. James McDonald and Sparks.
Towards the end the BB files received fewer and fewer
military cases. The Air Force’s position was that UFO’s were no longer seen by
the military simply because they were trained observers who cannot be fooled by
such things. Historically, however, that was not true and did not explain why
so many military observers in the past saw and even instrument-tracked UFO’s. In
reality, the trend in the BB files reflected the changes in UFO reporting
channels. The Air Force had started shifting military reporting of UFO’s into
operational reporting channels such as those set up under AF Manual 55-11 of
1965 (now AF Instruction 10-206), and many classified regulations, which
bypassed BB.
All seemed dead on the UFO front, but major events
were just a few years away. The UFO debate was rapidly dying out in 1969 in the wake of the
Condon Report and the closure of BB. NICAP and APRO catastrophically lost
members, down from roughly 14,000 for NICAP and 8,000 for APRO to just a few
thousand.

4:00 p.m. This radar/visual was ‘written off’ as a
meteor and observed by three air crews. Four dart-shaped objects witnessed by
American Airlines Flight 112, a 707
heading east at 39,000
feet , a United Airlines flight eight miles to the rear
at 37,000 feet ,
and a National Guard jet four miles further at 41,000 feet . Objects
were tracked on FAA radar at St. Louis .
The pilot of the National Guard plane later claimed the UFO formation had
approached his craft almost ‘directly ahead’ before altering its course
abruptly and ascending quickly at the last moment. Two radar paints confirmed.

UFO Case Report (E-mail):
“Subject: Groveton MO, February 9, 1968”
By Joan Woodward, 26 November 2005
(NICAP.org)
Quote from the UFO case report:
“Animal Reaction Feature:
In the early morning darkness, the witness heard cows
in a pasture in front of his house bawling as if frightened. He looked out a
window and saw a large circular object hovering 20 to 25 feet above the ground
and 300 to 350 feet
from the house. The glow associated with
the object was bright enough that the witness could see furniture in the house,
could see limbs on trees, and the fence between the pasture and house. The glow
also allowed him to see the cattle that were in a rough semicircle about 100 to
200 feet
from the object. Some cows with calves were bawling and being answered by
calves. Then one cow whirled and ran toward the barn, followed within seconds
by all the others. Throughout the sighting there was a distinct swishing sound
(like a piece of wire whirled at high speed) with a pulsating rhythm.
The Sighting:
This sighting is included on the list of Blue Book
‘Unknowns (#12235).’ The time of the
sighting was reported as 4:30 am by Skylook (1970) and as 3:20 am by Hynek
(1977). The witness resides on a farm. He is nearsighted (but can drive without
glasses) and viewed these events without glasses. Hynek felt he was a stable,
factual witness. His house sits ¼ mile from a road and the pasture is between
the house and the road.
After being alerted as described above and seeing the
cattle run toward the barn, the witness focused on the object. He saw a
circular object estimated as 100
feet in diameter with at least one concave side from which
came yellow-green light. The witness saw 7 openings in the center of the
concave side. Without glasses he was not sure if the openings were round or
square, but estimated them to be 2 to 2.5 feet in diameter.
The duration of the sighting was estimated with
uncertainty, but was probably greater than 1 minute and less than 5 minutes. The
object departed by rapidly rising at a 45 degree angle but maintained the
horizontal position the craft held during hovering. On departure, the swishing sound became 2-3 times
louder and the pulsations became more rapid.

UFO Case Report:
“06-16-1909”
By Carl W. Feindt
(Water UFO, Claymont ,

The whole UFO case report:
“M. Beljonne, at Phu-Lien Observatory, Tonkin , sends us peculiar bolide observations. The first
one, especially remarkable, was made at Dong Hoi, Annam , by M. Delingette, Inspector
in the Civil Guard, head of the meteorological station. At Dong Hoi, on June 16
at 4:10 A.M., a bolide of an elongated shape, truncated at both ends, flew over
the city on a west-east course, casting a great luminosity. The
witnesses--Hoang Nic, of Dong Hoi; Tran Ninh, of Sa-Dong-Danh; Quyen, of
Dong-Duong-Hoi; and Danh Lui, of the same village--who were fishing at sea,
reported that the phenomenon lasted from eight to ten minutes, between the time
the object appeared and the time it fell into the sea, at about six kilometers
from shore.

UFO Article (Blog):
“ ‘OPREP-3’ – A Classified US Military
Reporting Channel For UFO Incidents? – Part 9”
By Paul Dean, 6 February 2017
(UFOs – Documenting The Evidence, Melbourne , Australia )
Quote from the article:
“Previously, in Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4 of
this series, I looked at the US
military’s OPREP–3 reporting system, and, in particular, its use in alerting
top–echelon military commands of serious UFO incidents. In 1975, and again in
1978, the OPREP–3 system was used to convey urgent and current information
regarding perceived UFO activity near sensitive US military installations. In Part
5, Part 6 and Part 7 of this series, I moved away from the raw reporting of
UFOs, and began to discuss the US government’s response, concern, evaluation
and investigation of these well–documented, intrusive aerial events, which were
to become known as the ‘1970’s over flights,’ or variations of that apt title.
Through the release of hundreds of pages of records, via the utilisation of the
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), researchers could piece together a
chronological narrative of UFO detection, reporting, response and
investigation. It was the efforts of Robert Todd, Barry Greenwood, Lawrence
Fawcett and Todd Zechel, and a few others, which saw government agencies,
especially military commands, release such records.
In Part 8, I discussed both the North American
Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) and the old Aerospace Defence Command’s
(ADCOM) role in, and response to, the ‘over flights,’ especially the events of
October and November, 1975. Specifically, I laid out NORAD and ADCOM’s handling
of FOI requests, which demonstrated clear inconsistencies, and possibly
deceitful conduct. More importantly, I presented the comparatively few NORAD
and ADCOM documents that were releasable, including so-called ‘Command
Directors Logs’ and ‘Senior Command Directors Logs.’ I also laid out a handful
of misleading statements made by NORAD regarding UFO’s generally. Finally, it
should be known that I will be discussing NORAD and ADCOM’s involvement in the ‘over
flights’ at greater length in my ongoing series titled ‘NORAD and the UFO
Smokescreen.’ In this edition of my series, I will present more NORAD and ADCOM
correspondence, including FOI action, plus further declassified records, all of
which are critical in assessing how these two massive organisations dealt with
the both the UFO events themselves, and the fallout that occurred later.
Briefly, NORAD was, and still is, a bi–national, United States–Canadian military organisation charged with aerospace warning and aerospace control overNorth America . Its
mission includes aircraft detection and monitoring, airspace management and
defensive air sovereignty. ADCOM, which was inactivated in 1986, was a major
command (MAJCOM) of the USAF, and was tasked with tactically defending the just
continental USA
only. As I have outlined previously, during the 1970’s and 1980’s, NORAD’s air
sovereignty responsibilities were divided into a number of geographical ‘NORAD
Regions,’ often shortened to ‘NR.’ Likewise, ADCOM’s air defence mission was similarly
divided into distinct ‘Air Divisions,’ frequently notated simply as ‘AD.’ ”
