“Long lost Australian Department
of Defence UAP policy file found!”

By Keith Basterfield, 2 October 2016
(UFOs – scientific research, Campbelltown,
New South Wales, Australia)

Quote from the article:
“In a post dated 1 September 2016, I mentioned one outcome of a 2004 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Australian Department of Defence (DOD). This was, that in asking for a copy of numerous UAP files, they had advised me that one file, numbered AF84/3508 was unable to be located. Over the years since then, it never did turn up. Until now.

Recently, Melbourne researcher Paul Dean, forwarded me the results of one of his FOIA requests to the DOD. Among the various chains of internal back and forth emails responding to Paul’s request, I noted a reference to the long lost file. In November 2015, the file was stated to have been renumbered as 2007/1008750 and was then held at the DOD archives.”

UFO Article (Blog):
“ ‘Cover-up’ or ‘foul-up?’ ”

By Keith Basterfield, 1 September 2016
(UFOs – scientific research, Campbelltown,
New South Wales, Australia)

Quote from the article:
Introduction

The late Professor James E McDonald often debated the issue of whether or not there was a UAP ‘cover-up’ or a ‘foul-up.’ By this, he meant was there an orchestrated campaign by officialdom to withhold information from the general public? Or, was there simply lack of care within government administrative processes? Put simply, ‘their left hand did not know what their right hand was doing.’

Australian examples

Since the days of McDonald, many other researchers, including myself, have pondered the same question. I’ll provide some Australian examples, from my own experience. Are they deliberate actions of the cover-up of events; or just bureaucratic errors?
(1) In 2004, I was informed by the Australian government Department of Transport that their file on the disappearance of pilot Frederick Valentich had been destroyed. In actual fact, the file turned up in October 2011, during a routine search of the holdings of the National Archives of Australia.
(2) Later in the 2000’s, I supplied the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), through the National Archives of Australia (NAA), with a list of certain Australian UAP groups (including the Queensland Flying Saucer Research Society (QFSRS)). I sought any files ASIO held, on any of these groups. ASIO advised they held no such files. About a year later, an ASIO file on the QFSRS turned up in the NAA.

A new anomaly

Today, another such example was found. In 2004, I submitted an FOI request to the Australian Department of Defence (DOD) for a series of UAP files, for which I provided a list of file numbers.

Included in this list was a file numbered AF 84/3508. The DOD advised that they were unable to locate this file.”

“ ‘OPREP-3’ – A Classified US Military
Reporting Channel For UFO Incidents? – Part 6”

By Paul Dean, 24 October 2016
(UFOs – Documenting The Evidence, Melbourne, Australia)

Quote from the article:
“Previously, in Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of this series, I highlighted a number of occasions, during the 1970’s, where the US military’s OPREP–3 reporting system has been used to alert top–level military commands and components of provocative UFO activity near military bases. In Part 4, I highlighted a category of OPREP–3 reporting which was specifically designed for the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) and Aerospace Defence Command (ADCOM), to report general unknown radar tracks, and, ‘Unidentified Flying Objects – UFOs.’ In Part 5, I moved on from the actual OPREP–3 reporting of UFOs, and into the fallout that some of these post–Project Blue Book UFO events caused within the US military and intelligence community. In summary, what started out as a brief appraisal of the OPREP–3 reporting system, specifically in relation to apparent UFO incidents, has morphed into a wider study of declassified documents which deal with UFO case investigation, evaluation and high level concern long after the US government relieved itself, publicly, of the UFO headache.

In this Part 6, I will continue my study, this time focusing on records released by the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and the National Military Command Center (NMCC) in relation to a series of possible UFO events over Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. These events, which occurred in November, 1975, followed similar aerial intrusions over Wurthsmith AFB, Michigan, Loring AFB, Maine, and Falconbridge AFS in Ontario, Canada. Minot AFB in North Dakota, and other bases were likewise affected by unidentified activity during the same period. Most of these bases were assigned to the United States Air Force’s (USAF) Strategic Air Command (SAC), and, had nuclear weapons. This unusual chapter in UFO history only came to light after researchers Barry Greenwood, Robert Todd, Lawrence Fawcett and Todd Zechel used the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain pertinent records from military agencies and commands.”

“UFO Moving at Incredible Speed Tracked By Radar | New Rendlesham Case Video”

By Robert L. Hastings, 21 October 2016
(The UFO Chronicles, 24 October 2016)

Quote from the article:
“The two U.S. Air Force air traffic controllers who were working in the RAF Bentwaters base tower in late December 1980—during the series of incidents collectively known as the Rendlesham Forest UFO Case—have finally discussed their long-held secret on camera.

Ike Barker and Jim Carey first spoke to me in 2007, allowing me to record their revelations on audio tape. But their dramatic, game-changing testimony is now available on video, in an interview appearing in my new documentary film, UFOs and Nukes: The Secret Link Revealed,

The now-retired controllers say they tracked a bona fide UFO that covered 120 miles in eight seconds, or three sweeps of their radar beam! If that were not stunning enough, Carey says the object also made an instantaneous right-angle turn as it left the vicinity. For his part, Barker says he actually saw the amazing interloper as it briefly hovered near the air traffic control tower, describing it as an orange sphere with a series of portholes positioned around its center.

Both controllers are emphatic: This was an intelligently-controlled craft whose capabilities far surpassed any current human technology.”

U.S. Government UFO Document:
“STATUS REPORT”

(Project Blue Book, U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.)

Source: NICAP.org

Quote from the document (not written in U.S. Department of Defense document format):
“1 August 1952                                             Bellefontaine, Ohio

Description of Incident

At 1551Z, a radar track appeared 20 miles NNW of W-P AFB. The course was 240° at 400 knots. Two F-86’s under GCI control were then located ten miles SW of that position. The fighters were vectored and made visual contact at 1555Z. Fighters stayed with the object until 1613Z.

Interrogation of sources, an AF major and lieutenant, reveal the following:

b. The AC&W Squadron established two important facts: Re-affirmation that the UFO moved at 400 knots and indication that the two F-86’s and UFO appeared simultaneously on the GCI scope. It is obvious that all eyes and antennas were fixed on the same object.

Comments

The object was not a balloon, since the speed was too fast. A rawinsonde was released at 1500Z and moved off to the east. The object moved against the wind. The blip size was that of a normal aircraft. The object was not a known aircraft because the altitude was too high. The object was not astronomical as dual radar returns eliminate this. Electronic or visual mirage of meteorological phenomenon is out of the question as the radar set was on high beam, and both would not occur simultaneously in the same place. The sighting occurred ‘above the weather’.

Conclusion

Unknown”

The UFO incident occurred near Troy, Ohio (radar at Bellefontaine), according to NICAP.org (nicap.org).

UFO News Article:
“Workman sees mysterious object
above the sea near Cicerata”

2 February 2007
(Gazzetta del Sud, Messina, Italy)

Source: Water UFO (waterufo.net)

The whole (translated) article:
“Two days ago a mysterious object, possibly a submersible craft, was seen in the early hours of the morning over the sea near Cicerata. At around 4:45 am Domenico Giarrotta, a 51-year-old married workman from Via Torquato in Barcellona, was driving home from Milazzo along the Barcellona coastal road when a light coming from the direction of the sea caught his attention. He parked his car and around a kilometer from the shore he saw an off-white circular object that was around twenty meters in diameter and emitting a bright red light.

At that moment another car arrived on the scene. The driver, from Novara di Sicilia, stepped out of his car and asked Giarrotta what he thought was happening, but neither one of them could come up with a satisfactory explanation for the strange circumstances. According to the description given by the two witnesses, the immense white ball had red lights that glowed and sparkled, and it remained immobile above the water. After around five minutes it started moving and slowly disappeared under the water, after which the whole area was plunged into darkness. Domenico Giarrotta and the other driver went home, puzzled and shocked.

They reported the event to the Port Authority in Milazzo. Domenico Giarrotta told us: ‘I was returning from Milazzo at around 4:45 am, when about a kilometre away from the shore I saw a huge white ball that turned flame red.’ The motorist from Barcellona added: ‘It looked like a truck engine; it was round, a fiery red color and gave off an intensely bright light. There was another driver who was there and saw it too. We watched, intrigued and amazed, and as we were watching and talking the strange object lowered and disappeared into the sea. The sea was calm and remained calm. The sighting lasted around four or five minutes, then the huge white ball disappeared into the sea. I had never seen anything like it. The thing that amazed me was that a vast area of sea was illuminated by the red light that the object was giving off. Initially it seemed like an optical illusion. But then the other motorist and I realized it was all really happening. I don’t know, maybe it was a submarine, even if it was a strange shape and size and gave off a bright red light.’ ”

DISC LANDING REPORTED IN NEW JERSEY – IN U.S. & ABROAD SIGHTINGS CONTINUE”

The whole UFO case report:
“(Extract-CF-)

A series of New Jersey police sightings after a reported disc landing in a reservoir -- important because police and several newspapers openly rejected an attempted ‘hoax’ explanation.

The action began on September 15. At 5 p.m., two shiny discs were seen over Oradell, N.J. At 6 p.m., two shiny, round UFOs were sighted by former Navy flying officer J. J. McVickers just across the state line. At 7:50, NICAP member Victor Cipolla saw a glowing object descend toward Oradell, and other witnesses saw it dart back and forth near the reservoir. At 7:55, three teen-aged boys saw a bright, oval-shaped object land in the reservoir with a loud splash. A man working nearby also heard the splash, according to police. After a moment the strange device took off, climbed silently at high speed.

As McGuire AFB began an investigation, new reports came in. On September 21, four Hawthorne police officers watched a device with two beam-like headlights hover over a quarry. Officer George Jediny, in a report to NICAP, said the UFO -- which he sketched as a disc -- seemed to revolve. The quarry night watchman, Wm. Stocks, said the UFO had also appeared the night before. When he drove a Jeep nearer to check up, the object maneuvered to keep out of the headlights. (Similar reaction often reported.)

Just after midnight, September 24, the same or a similar device was seen over the quarry by over a dozen Hawthorne police officers and the chief reporter of the N. J. State Press, George Della Penta. When a police-car spotlight was pointed up at the UFO, it began to move. Before it left, Mr. Della Penta shot 18 feet of color film. (Analysis not completed.)

Later, Oradell police received a letter signed ‘The Bergenfield Pranksters,’ purporting to be from some boys who said they faked the sightings with aluminum-coated model aircraft supported by helium balloons. This was promptly rejected by the police and newspapers that checked the facts, among them:

The Newark Evening News, Science Writer Philip Del Vecchio: ‘It would have been impossible for them (the Bergen County boys) to put their model planes so high that they could be seen in Hawthorne... No object such as they could have put together could have moved at the lightning speeds attributed to the UFO. The light... could not have been produced by amateurs. This newspaper makes an appeal to other residents ...with the assurance that reports will be treated with dignity.

The Hawthorne Observer, rebuking those who accepted an unsigned letter from a town miles away, said it was time to treat the reports seriously.

The Riverdale Sunday Trend: ‘Suppose the real hoax is the letter purporting to explain the whole thing?’

The Hawthorne News Record: ‘To imply so flippantly that our police officers spent almost half an hour looking at a balloon and then watched it speed away at an incredible rate -- all in quite an opposite direction from Oradell--is insulting.’

The Newark Sunday News: ‘Flying saucers are still a big mystery...are seen with great regularity by sane and logical inhabitants of the planet Earth. What they are and where they come from and what their mission is has not yet been satisfactorily explained.’

Regardless of the final outcome, these New Jersey sightings have shown that an increasing number of newspapers no longer accept quick brush-off answers to sightings by competent witnesses.
