UFO Case Report (E-mail):
“Subject: Groveton MO, February 9, 1968”
By Joan Woodward, 26 November 2005
(NICAP.org)
Quote from the UFO case report:
“Animal Reaction Feature:
In the early morning darkness, the witness heard cows
in a pasture in front of his house bawling as if frightened. He looked out a
window and saw a large circular object hovering 20 to 25 feet above the ground
and 300 to 350 feet
from the house. The glow associated with
the object was bright enough that the witness could see furniture in the house,
could see limbs on trees, and the fence between the pasture and house. The glow
also allowed him to see the cattle that were in a rough semicircle about 100 to
200 feet
from the object. Some cows with calves were bawling and being answered by
calves. Then one cow whirled and ran toward the barn, followed within seconds
by all the others. Throughout the sighting there was a distinct swishing sound
(like a piece of wire whirled at high speed) with a pulsating rhythm.
The Sighting:
This sighting is included on the list of Blue Book
‘Unknowns (#12235).’ The time of the
sighting was reported as 4:30 am by Skylook (1970) and as 3:20 am by Hynek
(1977). The witness resides on a farm. He is nearsighted (but can drive without
glasses) and viewed these events without glasses. Hynek felt he was a stable,
factual witness. His house sits ¼ mile from a road and the pasture is between
the house and the road.
After being alerted as described above and seeing the
cattle run toward the barn, the witness focused on the object. He saw a
circular object estimated as 100
feet in diameter with at least one concave side from which
came yellow-green light. The witness saw 7 openings in the center of the
concave side. Without glasses he was not sure if the openings were round or
square, but estimated them to be 2 to 2.5 feet in diameter.
The duration of the sighting was estimated with
uncertainty, but was probably greater than 1 minute and less than 5 minutes. The
object departed by rapidly rising at a 45 degree angle but maintained the
horizontal position the craft held during hovering. On departure, the swishing sound became 2-3 times
louder and the pulsations became more rapid.

“PROJECT 10073 RECORD (CARD):
DATE – TIME GROUP: 9 Feb. 68/
LOCATION: Groveton, Missouri”
(Project Blue Book , U.S. Air Force, Washington , D.C. )
Source: Fold3.com, Lindon , Utah
Quote from the document:
“The observer was awakened by several of his cows
bawling. The observer rushed to his living room and sighted a craft that was
estimated to be about 100 ft .
in diameter and had concave sides. A bright yellow-green light came from the
concave sides of the craft and the craft itself produced a pulsating sound
similar to a piece of wire whirled at high speed above a person’s head. During
this time the cows were staring at the object which the observer estimated to
be about 100 to 200 ft
away and about 25 ft .
above the ground. Finally the cows whirled and ran into the barn. Shortly
afterward the craft moved away rapidly toward the SW. When the object moved
toward the SW the noise was reportedly two or three times louder and the sound
pulsations were more rapid. The duration of the sighting was 1 to 5 minutes.
NOTE: The observer is somewhat nearsighted but was not wearing his glasses
during the observation.”
Project Blue Book listed the case as “UNIDENTIFIED.”
The UFO incident occurred at 4:20 a.m. (9:20 a.m. Zulu
Time Zone).

UFO Report:
“The 1968 UFO Chronology”
Created: 15 November 2006
Updated: 5 January 2017
(NICAP.org)
Quote from the UFO report:
“This is a
twelve-page chronology of UFO incidents and events for 1968. Our thanks
for these chronologies must go to our documentation team: Richard Hall (the
original 1968 chronology from UFOE II), William Wise (Project Blue Book
Archive), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), and Brad Sparks (Comprehensive
Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns). Last, but not least, our thanks to Jean
Waskiewicz who created the online NICAP DBase (NSID) that helped make it
possible to link from the cases to the reports themselves.
Earlier last year, on September 18, 1967, Condon, Low
and Saunders had met for the first time in many weeks. As a result of his
reading of the memo, Saunders was deeply concerned about the negative approach
to the UFO problem. Saunders was led to believe that if by chance the Extra
Terrestrial Intelligence (ETI) hypothesis was substantiated, the announcement
would be sent by Condon directly to the Air Force and the President, and never
be allowed to go to the public. This troubled him, because Saunders had been
given a clear understanding that the report would go first to the National
Academy of Sciences, then to the public and Air Force simultaneously. Saunders
felt he could not let the problem drop. Another meeting was agreed to. At this
point, Keyhoe suddenly sent word that NICAP was going to take a strong stand
against the Condon committee and no longer would supply material and reports.
The reason, Keyhoe said, was a new speech made by Condon at the Atomic
Spectroscopy Symposium at Gaithersburg ,
Md. , on September 13, 1967. A report of the new
Condon speech had already reached Dr. McDonald in a letter from a colleague at
the University of
Arizona , William S.
Bickel, assistant professor of physics on the campus. The rest was all down
hill, but the Condon Report later tried to say they couldn’t get cooperation,
as excerpts inserted in the chronology will demonstrate.
As the Colorado UFO Project prepares to announce the
failure to find anything of substance to UFOs and the need to close the Air
Force Project Blue Book, other studies, such as the secret NSA document below,
and later the RAND document (Nov. 27), give a more accurate report.

“Farmer may have had close encounter”
20 October 1990
(Sandusky Register, Ohio )
Sources: U.F.O. Newsclipping Service, Plumerville , Arkansas
and AFU.se
The whole article (Page 1):
“Farmer James Lawson doesn’t know what made the
perfect 50-foot circle in his cornfield, but he’s not ruling out the possibility
that it was an alien being.
The corn stalks are flattened in neat rows in
clockwise swirl, hidden from the nearest intersection but visible from inside
the field.
The phenomenon is common in Britian, with hundreds of
such incidents reported in recent years. Crop circle reports have also come in
from the Soviet Union, Japan
and New England .
‘I was just making my first trip (on a combine)
through the field,’ Lawson said . ‘The first thing I thought of was a UFO.
‘I thought ‘holy smokes, what is this?’ ’
‘It feels weird. There’s no road coming in,’ said
Lawson, 70. ‘It could have been here quite a while, but the ears are still on
the stalks. Maybe it’s been a month or so.’
‘When I went in to tell my wife, she didn’t believe
me,’ Lawson said. ‘She said, ‘You're goofy.’ ’
Lawson has farmed for 42 years and although he did not
think the crop circle is a hoax, he wasn’t quite ready to accept the UFO
theory.
‘It couldn’t have been the wind because the dike would
have stopped it. And it’s a perfect circle. The stalks are mashed in perfect
rows,’ he said. ‘Maybe it was a UFO that made the circle when it landed and
then took off.’
Other explanations from around the world range from
the landing pods to crazed hedgehogs to a freak natural event.
Lawson said he would leave the circle alone and
harvest around it.
‘l think people would be interested,’ he said. ‘Who
knows who might want to come and see this?’ ”
The photo text:
“James Lawson of rural Milan , Illinois ,
stands on the ladder of his combine in front of the mysterious circle of
flattened corn he found in his field while harvesting Tuesday. The circle is a
perfect 46 1/2-foot in diameter and had no sign or evidence of cutting or
humans in the circle area.”
