UFO Article:
“AATIP’s 6th UFO Observable: Biological
Effects and Injuries from The Phenomenon”

11 August 2020

(Silva Record, U.S.A.)

Quote from the article:

“AATIP’s five observables have been a main focal point for TTSA to educate and describe what is witnessed and occurring regarding UFOs.

Thanks to an interview with Tom DeLonge and Luis Elizondo published by Newrepublic.com and written by Matt Farwell, we now know there are in fact at least six observables. The sixth being a sensitive subject to say the least.”

UFO Case Directory (Animal Effect Cases):
“Sandy Hook, Connecticut
March 31, 1983”

(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
Animal Reaction Feature:
At 8:30 pm, Thunder, a 175-pound Great Dane, ‘went crazy’ and barked for 3 minutes. His owner, Cindy Tillison, went to see what was going on. Thunder was standing at the sliding doors in the kitchen barking toward the woods. When Tillison looked, she saw a huge V-shaped object. The object remained for 20 minutes and, throughout this time, Thunder appeared frightened and barked continuously with ears straight up. The next day he refused to go out.

Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Feature:
The V-shaped object was glowing a very bright auburn color and had lights similar to headlights but much larger. When Tillison flicked her floodlights on and off, the object appeared to move in response, after which she left the lights off. During the 20 minutes of observation, the object projected a big, steady beam of light, seemingly from its center. The beam was very wide, estimated a little less than half the size of the object. The big round lights did change, going off [and on?—jw] and changing colors. The object disappeared when the witness was not looking.

No sound was mentioned. No EM effects or physiological effects were reported.

UFO Case Directory (Animal Effect Cases):
“Ossining, New York
March 24, 1983”

(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
Animal Reaction Feature:
David Scarpino, accountant, was walking his Golden Retriever around the Ossining Reservoir at 8:15 pm. He saw bright lights in a boomerang formation hovering over a large tree a few feet away from him. His dog did not appear to notice the object.

Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Specialist:
Scarpino noticed the lights over his shoulder and turned to see 12 bright lights as described above. He thought the lights were on one solid object and compared its size to that of a 747. He could hear no sound. As he watched, the lights slowly turned 180 degrees ‘as if on a wheel’ and started moving south at walking speed. The object again hovered. All but one blue and one green light went out, and then those lights blinked out. Nothing more was seen.

No EM effects and no physiological effects were reported.

This was one of hundreds of boomerang sightings between 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm in Westchester and Putnam Counties.

UFO Journal Article:
“French General, Scientists, Report UFOs”

U.F.O. Investigator, May-June 1968, Vol. IV, No. 6
(National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, Washington, D.C.)

Source: J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS.org),
Chicago, Illinois

The whole article (Page 3):
“In recent months, close approaches have dominated reports of UFOs, but several other cases by specially qualified observers also have added important evidence.

On the night of April 12 [1968], two UFOs were observed in the Washington, D.C., area by two men, one a zoologist, the other an astronomer. In a signed report to NICAP, the first witness described the objects as dull orange globes. They appeared at 11:40 p.m., he said, and moved swiftly across the sky, SSE to NNW, disappearing in about five seconds.

An earlier report, recently received, confirmed an encounter by General Paul Stehlin, a top-level pilot in the French Air Force. On an afternoon in September, 1967, General Stehlin was piloting a plane over Villacoublay, a military airfield near Paris, when he saw a silvery cigar-shaped object flying parallel to his aircraft. The UFO paced the general’s plane for several minutes, then accelerated and rapidly went out of sight.

Several 1968 reports describe EM (electromagnetic) interference effects from nearby UFOs. One case occurred on Jan. 2 [1968], in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. About 4 p.m. Tom Banks and Errol Smyth were cruising in their snowmobiles when they spotted a pulsating orange-yellow UFO just over the treetops. Its radiance, they said, was brighter than the sun. Banks reported that his snowmobile stopped and he felt an unusual heat–both effects supposedly from the UFO. The strange object quickly disappeared, after which the snowmobile functioned normally.

TV INTERFERENCE

Shortly before midnight on Jan. 8 [1968], according to the Trenton Times, an orange-red, bowl-shaped object was sighted at Jackson, N. J. The witnesses were Mr. and Mrs. Robert LeChance and a neighbour, Mrs. Gertrude Gifford.

Just prior to spotting the object, LeChance said, the colors in his TV picture faded out. Mrs Gifford reported that her TV set ‘went out completely, and my lights dimmed. . . .It (the UFO) went down behind the tree line, then came up and went down again…until it finally disappeared.’ She told police she was badly scared by the incident.

An unusual wind effect was reported on Jan. 30 [1968] by a number of Venezuelans. The sighting was described by witnesses on the Punto Solo ranch in the Palo Seco area. A spokesman for the group, ranch-owner Prudencio Salzar, said a silvery object emitting red lights landed near a corral. As it took off, he said, it made a sound ‘and the trees around the site were shaken violently by blasts of wind.’

CLOSE APPROACH IN CANADA

A disturbing UFO sound was also linked with a sighting on Feb. 19 [1968], near Bengough, Saskatchewan, Canada. The witness, Mrs. Martha Heggs, said the sound was a high-pitched whining noise which caused ‘a tingling sensation throughout her body,’ according to a report submitted by NICAP member D. F. Clausen.

Looking out her window, Mrs. Heggs saw a clearly outlined UFO. Its lower portion, she said, was like ‘two shallow plates placed lip to lip.’ It also had an ‘inverted bowl’ superstructure and a smaller, dome-like structure on top of this. An aerial-like section supporting a small sphere could be seen at the extreme top. Around the superstructure, Mrs. Heggs reported, were six or seven arch-shaped ports, and she could see what looked like riveted seams around the lower part.

The UFO was first seen circling ‘about one foot’ above a 35-foot power pole mounting a transformer. It circled the pole to the left four times, then moved out over the witness’ farmyard, descending to ‘three feet off the ground’ and hovering for about five minutes, ‘dirctly in front of three wrecked cars.’ It ascended to about 20 feet and circled four storage bins. The object then moved northeast over three more bins and circled two nearby tractors and continued onward seemingly to survey two parked trucks, two elevated fuel storage tanks and an electric water pump. It then headed toward some trees, leaving the farmyard.

Mrs. Heggs reported that, during the sighting, her ‘dog was cowering, lying on the snow and trying to cover its ears with its front feet.’ Her cattle also reportedly ‘took flight when she first saw the object...,’ running into their sheds. They did not emerge until after the UFO had left the area.

Five nights later [24 February 1968], another UFO encounter took place near Westhill, Pa. The details were given to NICAP in a signed report by Mr. Karl E. Will, a chemical engineer.

Mr. and Mrs. Will had just left Westhill for their home in Carlisle, Pa., when they spotted a brilliant object approaching from the west.

‘It was somewhat oval in shape, with a foreshortened tail end,’ Mr. Will reported. ‘The rear of the object had a fin or antenna tipped with a red light. The underside. . .sported two red lights, one on either side and somewhat forward to the center.’

As a jet aircraft flew in the vicinity of the UFO, he added, the object’s red lights ‘seemed to dim near to extinction’ but brightened after the plane left the area.

‘In the meantime,’ Will continued, ‘I had removed the spotlight from the trunk of my auto and tried to signal the object by blinking the light. As soon as I did, the lights went out. I sighted the object no more.’

PHYSICAL-EFFECT REPORT

Possible physiological effects from UFOs have been reported in increasing number. One example is described in a signed NICAP report by Nicholas Sgouris of Syracuse, N. Y.

At 6:15 p.m. on March 4 [1968], Sgouris was driving outside of Syracuse when he saw a solid object ‘with flashing multicoloured lights’ which were steadily blinking. Its altitude was about 200 feet.

‘My car started running funny,’ the witness reported. ‘I looked out the left window and saw an object approaching from the left. It passed over (the) highway in front of me….’

Sgouris said his car slowed almost to a stop after he had sighted the object and that he experienced a ‘funny feeling’ and couldn’t move until the UFO headed away.

Another Syracuse sighting was reported on March 8 by three citizens. The UFO at first appeared to be ball-shaped, but as it changed position it was seen to be a large disc with a domed top.

Other logged reports, with few details: March 27 [1968], 77 miles east of Anchorage, Alaska, a large, silvery, rectangular object seen by 11 witnesses; April 8 [1968], Toronto, Canada, a hovering object with a ring of orange-red lights and three white beams which lit up the area; April 12 [1968], Cape Neddick, Maine, and oval domed object with a cluster of red blinking lights and a pulsating white light in front.

SUBMERGING UFO CASE

Since publishing ‘The Question of Submerging UFOs,’ (Vol. IV, No. 5 ) we have received other reports of objects on or near bodies of water. One case is described by Barry A. Nason, New Brunswick, Canada. Nason was fishing in Trout Brook Lake when a small UFO, estimated three feet in diameter, hit the water about 15 yards away.

‘It was traveling in a spinning fashion,’ Nason said. ‘It sprayed water seven or eight feet high. . . and made a terrible, loud sound.’ Nason crouched, fearing the UFO might come his way. The object then left the water and went into a clump of bushes, making ‘an awful commotion.’ It then flew back over the lake and submerged at one edge. Nason said he saw a big cloud of steam and heard a gurgling sound. For some time afterward, he stated, the water was covered with small waves.

A second 1967 Canadian case, investigated by NICAP member D. F. Clausen, involved a close approach to a school bus. The report was made by Mrs. Evelyn Brown, the driver. On June 1, 1967, Mrs. Brown was headed toward Shauvavon, Saskatchewan, when she glimpsed a strange object over her left shoulder. She stopped the bus and the UFO also stopped, hovering for several seconds. It was a round device, with a ‘dull aluminum’ appearance. Above the main body she said, was a superstructure with portholes and atop this was a ‘glass-like’ dome.

After 15 seconds, the UFO lifted, passed over the bus, then hovered again, to the right of the vehicle, finally moving to a position ‘dead ahead.’

‘At this moment Mrs. Brown turned on the headlights,’ Mr. Clausen reports. ‘The object stopped immediately. She then switched the headlights off and on three or four times. The ‘object’ rocked three or four times. . . stopped rocking, hovered for about two seconds, then rose very fast, straight up out of sight.’ ”

UFO Case Report (E-mail):
“Subject: MacMillan Pass,
NWT/Yukon Border, Canada, Mid July 1988”

By Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Specialist, 4 April 2006
(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
Animal Reaction Feature:
Three men were transporting horses in a high-sided, open topped truck to the MacMillan Pass summit. Arriving in the afternoon at the unloading site, one of the men took his camera and walked 600 feet or so away to take a photograph of mountains to the south. As he looked through the viewfinder he heard an extremely loud fluttering sound approaching from behind and above.

After getting a photograph of the object, the witness ran toward the truck. The horses, not yet unloaded, were panicked. They were trying to jump out of the truck, and the two ‘outfitters’ were desperately trying to calm them and to keep them from injuring themselves. Eventually the horses did calm. The outfitters did not see the unknown object, but commented that they had never before seen the horses react in this way.

The Sighting:
When the witness heard the loud sound approaching behind and above him (putting the unknown about 600-700 feet from the horses), he kept one eye on the viewfinder and caught a glimpse of the object passing above him out of the corner of his other eye. Then, almost instantly, he caught the object in the viewfinder as it rapidly flew over the valley in front of him. It appeared to slow, and he snapped a picture.  The object wavered and turned to the right and accelerated. It became silent as it changed direction. It disappeared into the distance flying up the valley.

Martin Jasek analyzed the photograph, which shows an object with a domed top and a rectangular-looking bottom.* Jasek’s calculated angular size of the object in the photograph is 0.28° (0.55 moon diameter).

Duration of the sighting was in seconds.  The unknown’s altitude when over the witness’s head was estimated as 1500-1800 feet. The peak visually nearest the unknown object (in the photograph) is about 4000 m (13,000 feet) away (email, Jasek to Woodward, March 22, 2006 and April 20, 2006).

No EM or physiological effects were reported.

UFO Case Directory (Animal Effect Cases):
“Redlands, California
February 4, 1968”

(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
Animal Reaction Feature:
Between 7:20 and 7:25 p.m. in a residential area, many people over several streets came outdoors because of the unusual barking of the dogs in the neighborhood and/or because of an unusual sound. A circular object at an estimated altitude of 300 feet was seen moving slowly to the ENE.

Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Specialist:
It is estimated that 200 people saw or heard this object, including four University of Redlands professors (geology, mathematics, chemistry, and art) who became involved in the investigation. The object’s size was estimated to be 50 feet in diameter. It had lights on the base that appeared to expel jets of orange flame, and it had lights on the top that alternated red and green, giving the impression the object was rotating.

The object flew slowly for about a mile, stopped and hovered briefly, jerked forward, hovered, and then shot straight up at high speed.

The sound was reported as a high-pitched modulated whining sound.  Professor Seff (geology) concluded that the sound heard by many (and recorded by a minister) was that of an emergency rescue vehicle and was not coming from the object overhead. Professor Brownfield (art) did a composite drawing based on witnesses who saw the object from a variety of angles.

The sound is questionable. McDonald (1968) indicates witnesses reported physiological effects with no further explanation. No EM effects were reported.”

UFO Case Report (E-mail):
“Subject: Merced CA, April 4, 1949”

By Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Specialist, 3 December 2005
(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
Animal Reaction Feature:

At 10:20 PM, the witness and his dog went outdoors. The witness heard an intense clicking sound coming from the sky and saw a dark object as it moved against the background of stars. The witness described his dog’s reaction as follows: ‘My dog was with me and directed her attention in the general direction of this object’s flight throughout its course. She had been romping with me on coming out of the house but without spoken word [she] stopped and directed her attention to the previously described area [dark object flight path].’

The sighting:

This sighting is listed as a Blue Book unknown.

Weather: Castle AFB weather station reported thin/broken clouds at 20,000 feet, 12 mile visibility and surface winds as north at 9 mph. The witness reported his area (1 mile west of Merced and 7 miles south of Castle AFB) was more sheltered and had no appreciable surface wind.

The witness is a Major in the Active USAF Reserves. He is a pilot, with 2200 hours flight time, including night flying in WWII.  He reported the sighting to the Intelligence Officer at Castle Field.

Duration of sighting: 35-45 seconds (including sound and visual)

The witness came outdoors with his dog and heard a ‘clicking noise of considerable intensity.’ He stopped, locating the sound as coming from the sky about 40 degrees from eastern horizon.  He observed a dark shape moving against the background of stars in a flight path to the West or NW.

He described the object as a solid mass whose size he estimated as 4-5 feet in diameter and whose altitude he estimated as considerably less than 1,000 feet.  On two occasions the reflection of streetlights, located ½ block behind the witness, made the object appear to have a dull-surface and one of light colored metal. Also, the reflection of the streetlights off the surface of the object made the witness think that the under-surface was curved. No exhaust trail was seen. No lights or flame observed. No whistle or roar, only a clicking sound that maintained the same pitch and speed, but altered in loudness (see below). The clicking sound was compared to the beaters of a home mixer that were not properly meshed.

The dark object moved slowly going the West or NW, made a 90-degree-arc turn to the South or SW. The clicking sound became louder on the new heading. The clicking sound stopped when it was the loudest (seemingly overhead relative to the witness) and the witness was unable to detect the object after the sound ceased.

No EM effects or physiological effects were reported.
