U.S. Government UFO Document:
“Subject: FLYING DISKS REPORTEDLY SEEN
IN VICINITY OF SAVANNAH RIVER PLANT ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION”

To:         Director of Special Investigations
                The Inspector General
                Department of the Air Force
                The Pentagon
                Washington 25, D. C.

From:    John Edgar Hoover, Director
                Federal Bureau of Investigation

The Savannah Office of this Bureau has been informed that at approximately 10:45 p. m., May 10, 1952, four employees of the DuPont Company employed in the Savannah River Plant near Ellenton, South Carolina saw four disk shaped objects approaching ‘the four hundred area’ from the south which disappeared in a northerly direction. At approximately 11:10 p. m. A similar object was seen by these employees approaching from the northeast and disappearing in a southwesterly direction.  A similar object was also sighted about 11:15 p. m. traveling from south to north by the same employees.

The disks were described by the above-mentioned employees as being approximately fifteen inches in diameter and yellow to gold in color. All of the objects were allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed and at a high altitude without any noise. The disk shaped object referred to above which approached ‘the four hundred area’ from a northeasterly direction was reportedly traveling at such a low altitude it had to rise to pass over some tall tanks which are in ‘the four hundred area.’ The employee referred to above advised the objects were weaving from left to right but seemed to hold a general course. According to these persons because of the speed at which the objects were traveling they were only visible for a few seconds.

The above data, which was previous furnished to your office through this Bureau’s liaison representative, is being furnished for your information and any action you desire to take in this matter. No investigation is being conducted by this Bureau.

UFO Article:
“The Briefing Room” (Nuclear Connection Project)

By Francis L. Ridge, 1 February 2017
(NICAP.org)

The whole article:
“The Nuclear Connection Project was established on July 1, 2003. It has been fourteen very interesting years, probably the most enlightening work accomplished in the last half-century. Enlightening because it tells more about the ‘why’ of the [bona fide] UFO situation than any other field of study.

The evidence for a UFO/Nuclear Connection grows by the day. Official FBI, CIA, Army and Air Force documents establish, beyond a doubt, that UFOs have been seen and reported where uranium and plutonium are mined and manufactured (the Congo, New Mexico, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the Hanford Plant at Washington, the Savannah River facility at South Carolina). Official reports are on file of UFOs seen where bomb development takes place (Los Alamos, Sandia Base) and where nuclear weapons are stored (Manzano Mountain near Kirtland, NM, and Killeen Base at Camp Hood, TX). Even where the bombs are transported to the testing areas: See U.S.S. Curtiss Incident. The Camp Hood/Killeen incidents are listed in the Project Blue Book ‘Unknowns’. Some of the most dramatic incidents involve interference with our missile sites (shutdown of Minuteman missiles at Malmstrom AFB, Montana). Even the absence of incidents is uncanny, such as during one of the most dangerous periods in history, the Cuban Missile Crisis. Accidental war, where UFOs could be mistaken for Russian missiles or jets during very tense time, was a distinct possibility. Official documents show that UFOs had caused quite a stir at other times in our history, several times setting off nationwide alerts.

Our thanks to all the NCP Staff, in particular, Dan Wilson, for his fine work with the Blue Book files and many of the files below. Our thanks to Rebecca Wise and the Project Blue Book Archive for the documentation which made all this more than just hearsay and inaccurate reporting. The documents speak for themselves. And without our technological workhorse, Jean Waskiewicz, most of what we do would not be usable or even accessable. And Robert Duvall’s insight into what all this implies, is right on the mark when it comes to the ‘connection’, both nuclear and strategic. And although not a member of NCP by choice, Robert Hastings has provided more evidence for the nuclear connection in the form of researched and investigated missile incidences, than anybody.

Our primary goal at this time is to research, document, and post reports with the more obvious evidence of nuclear connections, which includes a files on White Sands, Camp Hood, Texas, and Oak Ridge, Tennessee:

Nuclear Connection Cases
The New Mexico Sightings
The Killeen Base/Camp Hood, TX Sightings (not yet ready)
The Oak Ridge, TN Sightings (to be updated)

Next, we will continue to research and post potential NC incidents with case synopses and documents on nuclear information on the NICAP site. Any category of UFO report (from category 1 thru 11) can be marked as a potential or suspected nuclear connection case.

UFO Paper:
“Nuclear Connection Project
NCP Paper
NCP-10: Nuclear Historical Correlative Research”

By Robert Duvall
(NICAP.org)

Quote from the paper:
“Do UFO respond to our political will in the arena of nuclear weapons? It is inevitable to compare the onset of prolific UFO activity of the last 60 or so years to our acquiring nuclear weapons capability. In making that comparison it is essential to realize the possibility that an historical relationship could exist, and to at least perform a study to make that determination. This paper’s primary goal is the introduction of the historical correlative concept and represents a small sample of such a study. This paper also provides topic organizational structure allowing the data to be collected in a fashion that is easily applied to historical research. Although much progress has been made towards firming this approach, not all topics have received correlative attention as of this writing.

Why choose military sighting data? The significance of military sightings is imbedded in the high quality of the observation and documentation, the consistency of the types of activity, and most important, the notice taken by the chain of command. Engaging the military of a state is the most direct way of getting attention  – all the way to the top. It is apparent that direct contact with leaders of states today is rare or probably nonexistent. Any sighting at or near to a state’s capital should therefore be treated as extremely significant. Most normal UFO activity occurs in fashions not meant to attract attention, such as in the guise of night or in remote areas, or so brief in length as to make it nearly impossible to ascertain anything from the sighting. When discovered, UFO usually end any observation by leaving quickly. Yet military engagement is direct, specific in type and location, often having duration indicating the intent to acquire full attention. Repetition of specific activities related to military could very well be attempts to relate or demonstrate clear superiority, concern over policy/decisions, and, with the more aggressive activity, a conveyance of warnings. That cannot be ignored as a distinct possibility. This is the case with UFO activity related directly to nuclear technology, weaponry and the associated political prowess.”

U.S. Government UFO Document:
Document On the 1952 Elisabethville,
Belgian Congo, Uranium Mine UFO Incident

(Undated document)
(Project Blue Book, U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.)

Source: NICAP.org

The whole document (not written in U.S. Department of Defense document format):
“Date of Inci: 29 Mar 52                Location: Belgian Congo

Recently two fiery disks were sighted over the uranium mines located in the southern part of the Belgian Congo in the Elisabethville district. The disks glided in curves and changed their position many times, so that from below they sometimes appeared as plates, ovals and simply lines. Suddenly both disks hovered in one spot, then took off in a unique zigzag flight to the NE.

Commander Pierre of the small Elisabethville airfield immediately set out a pursuit with a fighter plane. On his approach he came within about 120 meters of one of the disks. No further identification action was taken.

ATIC DOCUMENT 108463”

My comment:
On this web page, NICAP.org also presents a 29 March 1952 Die Presse (Germany) UFO news article (Project Blue Book document) about the Elisabethville UFO incident.

The UFO incident occurred a short while before 29 March 1952.

Dan Wilson:
March 29, 1952; [Elisabethville], Belgian Congo. (BBU)
This is the date this information was published and not the date of the incident. ‘Recently two fiery discs were sighted over the uranium mines located in the southern part of the Belgian Congo. The discs with a diameter of approximately 12 to 15 meters traveled in a precise and light manner, both vertically and horizontally. Changes in elevation from 800 to 1,000 meters were accomplished in a few seconds. The discs often moved down to within 20 meters (400') of the tree tops. Commander Pierre set out in pursuit of the objects in a fighter plane. On his first approach he came to within about 120 meters of one of the discs. Suddenly the discs hovered in one spot then took off in a unique zigzag flight to the northeast at an estimated speed of 1,500 kilometers per hour. Pierre gave up his pursuit after about 15 minutes.’ (McDonald files; Jan Aldrich, Dan Wilson)

Fran Ridge:
By January 1948 talks resulted in the U.S. getting all of the uranium from the Congo for the next two years, 1948-49, plus an option on uncommitted ore that had already been shipped to Britain. This generous settlement was achieved by allowing British scientists access to a number of nuclear secrets.”

UFO Report:
“The 1989 UFO Chronology”

Created: 15 August 2008
Updated: 19 December 2013
(NICAP.org)

Quote from the UFO report:
“This is currently a 14-page chronology of UFO incidents and events for 1989. Our thanks for these chronologies must go to Richard Hall (the original 1989 chronology from UFOE II), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), and Jean Waskiewicz (online NICAP DBase [NSID]. You will note the many foreign reports that we are now being able to access. Our special thanks to Dan Wilson for getting those to us. As more come in, this page will be updated. Previous chronologies (1947 to 1969) involved the expertise of two other team members; Rebecca Wise (Project Blue Book Archive) and Brad Sparks (Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns). Bob Gribble’s entries are those filed with the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle, Washington, now operated by Peter Davenport. Trace cases are now being entered with the help of Ted Phillips, Center for Physical Trace Research and retrofitted into previous chronologies as time permits. Since I was Indiana State Director (MUFON) at that time, many of our Indiana cases are listed here.

Of possible interest, the MADAR Project (which I headed for 20 years) had 5 anomalistic EM readings which are listed chronologically here.

June 4, 1989; Palmdale, CA
7:45 PM. A security guard and an air traffic controller at Air Force Facility 42 in Palmdale, California witnessed a silver flying object and three orb-shaped UFOs during testing of the B1-B bomber. There was also a rumor of an abduction occurring on this date at the same facility. (Source: MUFON UFO Journal, November 1990).

June 11, 1989; near St. John’s, Newfoundland
7:00 AM. A Canadian Airlines International crew watched a dark grey or black ovoid object, estimated to be about 2 meters in length, make complex maneuvers in the sky not far from St. John’s, Newfoundland for three minutes. (Source: Chris Rutkowski, International UFO Reporter, July 1990, p. 10).

July 22, 1989; Trenton, ME
3:30 PM. Over Blue Hill Bay -- At 3:30 p.m. Randy Rhodes, a police dispatcher for the City of Ellsworth, and Bill Reiff, an attorney, took off in a Beechcraft Bonanza from the Bar Harbor-Trenton airport. At around 3:45 p.m. they spotted a huge metallic disc, shining like polished aluminum, at the 9 o'clock position. It was at the same altitude as their plane--approximately 5100-5200 feet. The object suddenly moved dead ahead to the 12 o'clock position and it took on a reddish or rose color. Not very enthusiastic about continuing on with this thing in front of them, they turned back for the Bar Harbor-Trenton airport. The Aerial Direction Finder was working at the time but the DME (Distance Measuring Equipment) was not receiving. It had never before given them a problem, and 3-4 minutes after the object disappeared the DME came back on. When they landed they discovered that there had been power surges and outages on the ground, and they recalled that when they last observed the object it was headed in the direction of the Maine Yankee Nuclear Power plant in Wiscasset. However, a spokesman for the Bangor HydroElectric Company later reported that three limbs falling over a transmission line when a resident cut down a tree caused the outage. July 28, 1989; Kapustin Yar, Astrakhan, Russia
11:20 PM. A domed disc-shaped object was seen over a high security rocket weapons depot in Kapustin Yar, Astrakhan, Russia, by four military witnesses, including the two main witnesses named Voloshin and Tishchayev. The UFO glowed a phosphorescent green. It circled the depot three times, accelerated and then stopped abruptly. It shot away when a Soviet fighter jet appeared.
