UFO Case Directory (RADCAT):
“Several Incidents of R/V at Bentwaters
Aug. 13, 1956
Lakenheath/RAF Bentwaters, England”

(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
“Francis Ridge:
44 documents. This is undoubtedly one of the most important UFO events in the Blue Book files, but was not listed among the official ‘unknowns’. The case impressed Dr. James E. McDonald and Dr. J. Allen Hynek, and even more notably, the Condon Committee. This is another intercept mission where a pilot, faced with an unknown form of reality, was very frightened by his nocturnal encounter.

The Condon Report:
‘... this is the most puzzling and unusual case in the radar-visual files. The apparently rational, intelligent behavior of the UFO suggests a mechanical device of unknown origin as the most probable explanation of this sighting. However, in view of the inevitable fallibility of witnesses, more conventional explanations of this report cannot be entirely ruled out.’

Brad Sparks:
Aug. 13, 1956;  RAF Bentwaters, England, UK (BBU)
9:55 p.m. Extremely high speed radar-visual approximately 18,000 mph E-W radar track of brilliant white light, from about 30 miles E to 30 miles W passing directly over the radar site, ‘streaked under’ C-47 at 4,000 ft near base. Radar track provides height-finding data confirming extremely low altitude, roughly 2,000 ft, also estimated by ground visual observers. 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Radar-visual of hovering-darting objects that outmaneuvered Venom NF-3 jet interceptor beginning at 12:01 a.m. Later attempted intercepts at about 2-3 a.m. were unsuccessful. (Sparks)”

NICAP.org presents U.S. government (U.S. Air Force) documents that pertain to the UFO case.

UFO Case Report:
“UFOs OVER LAKENHEATH IN 1956”
by Dr. James E. McDonald,
Volume 16, No. 2, 1970
(Flying Saucer Review, London, UK)
(ignaciodarnaude.com)

The UFO incident extended from about 21:30Z, 13 August to 3:30Z, 14 August 1956, James E. McDonald reports:

Quote from the article:
“The event occurred in east-central England, chiefly in Suffolk.

The initial reports centred around Bentwaters RAF Station, located about six miles east of Ipswich, near the coast, while much of the subsequent action centres around Lakenheath RAF Station, located some 20 miles northeast of Cambridge. Sculthorpe RAF Station also figures in the account, but only to a minor extent; it is near Fakenham, in the vicinity of The Wash.”

U.S. Government UFO Document:
“REPORT NR.: IR-1-56 –
SUBJECT: (Unclassified) Unidentified
Flying Objects Reporting (UFOB)”

Date: 31 August 1956
(Project Blue Book, U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.)

Source: NICAP.org

Quote from the document (not written in U.S. Department of Defense document format) (Page 4):
“ORIGINATING AGENCY: 81st Fighter Bomber Wing, England

Most significant are the reports of three courses of UFOBS tracked on the Bentwaters GCA Radar. These UFOBS flew courses as follows: 1 group of 12 to 15 UFOBS FROM a point 8 miles SW of Bentwaters to approximately 40-45 miles NE of Bentwaters at an estimated speed of 80 to 125 miles per hour; a single UFOB was tracked by the Bentwaters GCA from approximately 25 miles SE of Bentwaters to approximately 15 miles NW of Bentwaters at a speed estimated at more than 4,000 miles per hour; a third UFOB was reported as tracked by the Bentwaters GCA from approximately 30 miles E. of Bentwaters flying a westerly course to about 30 miles west of Bentwaters at an exceptionally high speed.

The GCA Operators making these radar sightings were of the opinion that malfunctions of the GCA Equipment did not cause these radar sightings.

The following information was obtained from USAF personnel assigned to RAF Station, Bentwaters, England concerning visual and radar sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects in the vicinity of their assigned station during the period 2120Z to 2220Z, 13 August 1956. The reliability of all the following sources of information is estimated to be usually reliable.”

The document, REPORT NR.: IR-1-56, is presented on Pages 4-9.

The acronym, UFOB, stands for “unidentified flying object.” It was created by the U.S. Air Force. The term is defined in the document, Air Force Regulation 200-2 (AFR 200-2).

UFO Report:
“The 1984 UFO Chronology”

Created: 15 March 2008
Updated: 20 April 2016
(NICAP.org)

Quote from the UFO report:
“This is currently a 5-page chronology of UFO incidents and events for 1985. Our thanks for these chronologies must go to Richard Hall (the original 1985 chronology from UFOE II), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), and Jean Waskiewicz (online NICAP DBase [NSID]. You will note the many foreign reports that we are now being able to access. Our special thanks to Dan Wilson for getting those to us. As more come in, this page will be updated. Previous chronologies (1947 to 1969) involved the expertise of two other team members: William Wise (Project Blue Book Archive) and Brad Sparks (Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns). Bob Gribble‘s entries are those filed with the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle, Washington, now operated by Peter Davenport.

April 1984; Stanmore, Middlesex, England
PC Richard Milthorp was one of at least 20 uniformed officers who observed a dome shaped circular UFO that appeared to ‘fire’ balls of light to the ground for two hours. He submitted a report with one other officer that was sent to the Ministry of Defence and the Civil Aviation Authority. The Superintendent for Harrow Police station at the time said that the report by MILTHORP and PC PAUL ISLES was made by ‘two normal sensible men.’ UFO Classification NL (Nocturnal Light) On Duty sighting. 20 Officers. April 18, 1984; Lakenheath Air Base, England
A rectangular UFO hovered only 100 feet above the side of a road near the RAF Lakenheath Air Base in England. It had red, green and white lights, and was silent. (Source: International UFO Reporter, March 1986, p. 5).

April 19, 1984; at an eastern airport in England
16.00 GMT. Air traffic controllers at an eastern airport in England witnessed a glowing sphere that looked like ‘masses of silver paper crinkled up’ touch down on a cross runway, then rocket skyward in a maneuver they judged impossible for aircraft. It climbed 3000 feet in under a second. (Source: International UFO Reporter, March-April 1986, p. 5).

April 24, 1984; Chimayo, NM
7:10 PM. Radar visual confirmation. A 1000 foot long cigar-shaped object followed a KC-135 USAF tanker aircraft through a U-turn over the mountains of Chimayo, New Mexico while separate nocturnal lights cavorted about in the sky. Radar blips were tracked at the time. (Source: MUFON UFO Journal, November 1984).

May 5, 1984; Over Indian Ocean & in Space
At 1400 hours GMT a ultra-sensitive orbiting US DSP (Defense Support Program) spy satellite detected the entry of an unknown object that passes 15 miles in front of it, and then flew below it over the Indian Ocean. An alert was triggered at the North America Air Defense Command. Object moving at 22,000 miles per hour, changed course, and flew back out into outer space. (Source: Michael D. Hall, UFOs: A Century of Sightings, p. 324).

June 14, 1984; Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, NY
10:30 PM. Guards at the Indian Point nuclear power plant on the Hudson River, New York sighted a dark disc-shaped object with lights, 30 feet in diameter, that stayed over the nuclear reactor for 15 minutes. It finally flew away toward the northeast. (Source: J. Allen Hynek & Philip Imbrogno, Night Siege, p. 143).

July 24, 1984; Indian Point Nuclear Plant, Westchester County, NY
9:00 PM. A very large boomerang-shaped UFO hovered only 300 feet over an active vent of the Indian Point Nuclear Plant cooling tower for 15 minutes on the Hudson River in Westchester County, New York. Several guards came forward to report the incident, reporting there were a total of eleven witnesses to the UFO at the plant that night, and that the security guards broke out shotguns. A big cover-up by government officials was claimed. (Sources: Doris Graziano, APRO Bulletin, June 1985, p. 8; Larry Hatch, U computer database, case 14168, citing George C. July 24, 1984; Brewster, NY
10:20 PM. A videotape was made by a Mr. [Pozzuoli, according to the book, Night Siege] of a ring of lights in the dark sky over Brewster, New York in the Hudson River Valley, suggesting a dark circular, ellipsoid, or disc-shaped object. Analysis of the videotape was done by Dr. Lew Allen of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. (Sources: J. Allen Hynek & Philip J. Imbrogno, Night Seige: The Hudson Valley UFO Sightings, p. 128; Philip J. U.S. Air Force F-15 Fighter Jet Pilots Chase UFO
over the UK, 12 January 2007, Daytime

Comment by the video source:
“On Friday, January 12th, 2007, London Military Air Traffic Control contacted a flight of US Air Force F-15s out of RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk, UK, to intercept an unknown target they had picked up on radar at 3000 to 4000 feet altitude. The F-15s, call-sign Gator, went to investigate, and got a solid radar-lock on the unidentified target. They made two passes and passed the object, which was at 17,000 feet on the first pass and then 17,700 feet on the second pass. They described it as black in colour and stated that it was not a bird and unlike any aircraft they had ever seen.”

The audio is genuine, but the video has nothing to do with this UFO incident:
