UFO Article (Blog):
“NIDS and ‘triangular’ UAP”
By Keith Basterfield, 23 December 2019
(UFOs – scientific research, Campbelltown,
Quote from the article:
“Introduction
I am continuing my exploration of material which
appeared on the former website of the now defunct National Institute for
Discovery Science (NIDS) founded by Las
Vegas businessman Robert T Bigelow, in 1995 and
ceasing in 2004. Most researchers that I know, are completely unaware of this
resource.
Background
One of the two foci of NIDS was research into the UFO
phenomenon. There was an upsurge in the number of reports of ‘triangular’ shaped
objects in the 1990’s. Thus it was reasonable that NIDS would take a look into
this aspect of the phenomenon.”

UFO Article (Blog):
“Yes, indeed, BAASS’ AAWSAP
contract did, in part, investigate UAP”
By Keith Basterfield, 27 December 2019
(UFOs – scientific research, Campbelltown,
Quote from the article:
“Background
In a blog post dated 12 December 2019, I presented a
transcript of an interview dated 28 September 2008, between Las
Vegas journalist George Knapp, and Las Vegas businessman Robert T Bigelow.
During that interview, Bigelow announced the launch of Bigelow Aerospace
Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) and outlined the mission for BAASS.
…
Did BAASS work on UAP as well?
1. During the period April 2009 to January 2010 we
know that MUFON via its STAR group were indeed sending UAP reports to BAASS.
2. The open literature, reports that BAASS employee
Gary Hernandez was investigating UAP reports.
3. The US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) were
referring UAP reports to BASS during the period 2009 to 2012.
5. One August 2009 employee in his list of duties,
speaks of ‘Perform field measurements collecting data regarding ionizing
radiation as well as performing chemical/metal/soil and spectrum analysis
across the United States ...’
This work could be argued to be that of researching
physical trace evidence associated with UAP.
6. Lastly, but most importantly, former Senator Harry
Reid, who instigated the AATIP/AAWSAP says that AATIP studied UFOs. In a tweet
dated 8 December 2019, Las Vegas
journalist George Knapp cited former Senator Harry Reid as recently stating:
‘AATIP was my program. One can say whatever, but the
truth is it was for only one purpose - to study UFOs.’
7. Based on the above, I can see two possibilities.
Either BAASS was simultaneously running with the AAWSAP contract, and also
conducting its own UAP investigations; or the AAWSAP work did indeed involve
researching UAP. On the basis of what I have learned, I suggest that the latter
is true, which is contrary to recent statements from Pentagon spokesperson
Susan L Gough.”

The whole article:
“Those ‘Flying Saucers’ have popped up in Korea .
A Canadian destroyer recently reported sighting two
such objects and recorded them on its radar, it was learned here today.
A Navy report said 40 officers and crew members of the
destroyer Crusader saw the ‘saucers’ the night of July 10 [1952]. All had the
familiar qualities of the puzzling flying discs.
The report, addressed to the commanders of the Far East naval forces and the Fifth Air Force, said the
ship’s radar registered ‘fixes’ on the objects. It placed them two miles high
and seven miles away.
The report said the objects disappeared before
dawn.”

“ ‘FLYING SAUCERS’ REPORTED SEEN
OVER VILLAGE, PLUNGING INTO SENECA”
27 August 1952
(Express, Watkins Glen, New York )
Source: waterufo.net (the late Carl W. Feindt)
The whole article:
“Report of two ‘flying saucers’ over the village was
made by Mrs. Marion Granston of 315
N. Glen Ave. , Monday morning.
She said that the two saucers were seen at 9:30 just
over the ‘top of our elm tree.’
‘They were like big silver balls gliding through the
air,’ she added. ‘They were very plain.’
The two ‘balls’ disappeared over Seneca
Lake after proceeding eastward, the woman reported.
The woman added that neighborhood children could also
plainly see the ‘saucers.’ She identified them as William, Ronald, and Robert
Pierce, who lived nearby. They called Mrs. William Pierce, Sr., but she came
out too late to see the discs.
The woman, who reported the occurrence to newsmen, was
told to call Civil Defense headquarters at the office of Atty. Lafayette
Argetsinger, Jr.
Another ‘flying saucer’ was reported to have plunged intoSeneca Lake Monday morning [which was the
25th] [25 August 1952].
Another ‘flying saucer’ was reported to have plunged into
The incident was reported by three workmen who said
the object fell into the lake about 150 feet offshore near Glen Eldridge on the
east side of the lake about five miles from the village. They said it splashed
water about 8 or 10 feet
into the air.
The men, all carpenters, were Ray Andrew, Alfred
Sullivan, and Clayton Crout. They told state police that while working near the
lake, they saw a ‘bright object like a sheet of steel come through the air.’
‘Suddenly it crashed into the lake,’ they said, ‘and
splashed water 8 to 10 feet
high.’ In the Tompkins County village of Trumansburg, due northeast of here,
several persons reported that they saw five jet planes pursuing a flying
saucer.
U.S. Air Force officials at Hancock Field, Syracuse , said that jet planes from the base of the 32nd
Air Division Defense here were on maneuvers in the Schuyler County
area of Watkins Glen but said they did not know they were chasing flying
saucers.

“3 Carpenters ‘See’ Saucer Dive into Lake ”
27 August 1952
(The Herald, Sharon ,
Pennsylvania )
Source: waterufo.net (the late Carl W. Feindt)
The whole article:
“Three carpenters yesterday swore they saw a flying
saucer dive into Seneca Lake at Watkins Glen.
The carpenters said the saucer flashed ‘like a bright sheet of silver’ across
the horizon and then took a nosedive into the lake, kicking up a 10-foot
splash. But state police said as far as they are concerned, they are not going
to investigate. They pointed out that the lake is 200 feet deep in some
places, and they do not intend to waste their time with any grappling
operations.”

“Seneca Lake is the largest of the glacial
Finger Lakes of the U.S.
state of New York ,
and the deepest lake entirely within the state. It is promoted as being the
lake trout capital of the world, and is host of the National Lake Trout Derby.
Because of its depth and relative ease of access, the US Navy uses Seneca Lake to perform test and evaluation of equipment
ranging from single element transducers to complex sonar arrays and systems.”
