UFO Website:
“Scientific Coalition for Ufology” (SCU)

Quote from the website:
About

The Scientific Coalition of Scientists for UFOlogy (SCU) is a think tank of scientists and researchers stretching across organizations, governments and industries to scientifically and publicly explore unknown anomalous phenomena known around the world as UFOs, USOs, UAPs, OVNIs, etc.

SCU is not a club or group, rather it is a think tank. SCU is an organization that performs research and scientific studies concerning topics such as evidentiary,  military, technological, and cultural effects the ever present unknown phenomena in our sky, in our oceans and in space has on our civilization. We must take the first step in purely objectively understanding the phenomenon without bias or prejudice.

Contributors within SCU include individuals from organizations around the world in the UFO/UAP field, militaries, governments, private industry and media. All work SCU conducts is presented objectively and scientifically to the public through peer review. All contributors are appointed based on professional and educational background, no membership exists no dues are collected. All work within SCU is conducted under strong guidelines and standards.”

UFO Article (Blog):
“Two AATIP related conferences in March 2019”

By Keith Basterfield, 8 January 2019
(UFOs – scientific research, Campbelltown,
New South Wales, Australia)

Quote from the article:
Scientific Coalition for UFOlogy

The Scientific Coalition for UFOlogy will hold a conference on the subject of Anomalous Aerospace Phenomena, between 15-17 March 2019, in Huntsville, Alabama, in the USA.

The SCU’s website states that the ‘SCU is an organization composed of affiliate members from science, engineering, astronomy, psychology, chemistry, military and other disciplines with many holding PhDs, BS, BA degrees.

‘SCU seeks to hold this conference in the hopes of bringing together other serious minded attendees from Redstone Arsenal, NASA, military defense contractors and academia in order to have serious dialogue about the subject and how science can progress in studying the phenomena.’

Speakers

The keynote speaker is Luis Elizondo, former program manager for the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP).

Other speakers are:

Dr Travis Taylor, Department of Defense: ‘A scientific approach to analyzing and preparing for an alien invasion.’

Mr Philippe Ailleris, Project Controller, European Space Agency. ‘Detection and characterization of anomalous aerial objects using satellite data imagery.’

Mr Robert Powell, SCU: ‘2004 USS Nimitz case report.’

Mr Peter Reali, SCU: ‘2004 USS Nimitz case physics.’

Mr Richard Hoffman, SCU: ‘2013 Aguadilla Puerto Rico case technical review.’

S A Little, SCU: ‘Unidentified submersible object (USO) reports, creating a database for cluster analysis.’

Additional panel members include: Dr C Powell, Senior Engineer/scientist at Davidson Technologies, Inc.

UFO MegaCon

This conference will be held between 24-30 March 2019 in Laughlin, Nevada, and is being organised by a group including Robert Brown, Lorien Fenton and Gordon Pekrul.

There are currently 42 ‘speakers & guests’ listed on the website, including UAP researchers; experiencers; military witnesses and others.

On the topic of military encounters/AATIP related speakers and guests, these include:

Gary P Voorhis who was a fire control-man and Aegis technician aboard the USS Princeton in November 2004, who will be interviewed as part of a panel of military witnesses.

Kevin Day, radar operator on the USS Princeton in November 2004 during the Nimitz encounters. Day will present a talk titled ‘The Nimitz Tic Tac encounter revealed -the incredible behind the scenes story.’

Daniel Sheehan will speak on ‘To the Stars Academy quandary.’ Should the UFO community support a national security state-staff who seek to convince the world that UFOs are ‘real’ but constitute ‘a threat to the national security of our country’ in exchange for these government experts finally ‘giving credence’ to ‘the reality of UFOs.’

Patrick ‘JP’ Hughes was a second class Petty Officer attached to the VAW-117 squadron onboard the USS Nimitz in November 2004. Hughes will be interviewed as part of the panel of military witnesses.

Robert Kiviat

Now, regular blog readers will be familiar with Voorhis; Day; Sheehan and Hughes. However, there is an additional speaker of interest, Robert Kiviat.

According to the UFO MegaCon website, Kiviat worked with the FOX network to ‘establish its alternative TV department’ which produced a range of paranormal and UFO documentaries.”

UFO Article (Blog):
“A ‘UFO science redux’ – the SCU Nimitz report:
‘A Forensic Analysis of Navy Carrier Strike Group Eleven’s Encounter with an Anomalous Aerial Vehicle’ ”

By Bill Chalker, 3 April 2019
(The OZ Files, Sydney, Australia)

Quote from the article:
“Thanks to Robert Powell of the SCU – the Scientific Coalition for Ufology – which advocates ‘scientific Inquiry of UFOs, USOs and UAPs’ – I have had an opportunity to review SCU’s excellent study of the popularly called Nimitz encounters that occurred in 2004. I highly recommend the SCU study which can now be read in full on their site at:
https://www.explorescu.org/papers/nimitz_strike_group_2004
along with some of SCU’s interviews with key witnesses Kevin Day, Jason Turner and Gary Voorhis.

The report – ‘A Forensic Analysis of Navy Carrier Strike Group Eleven’s Encounter with an Anomalous Aerial Vehicle’ is authored by Robert Powell, Peter Reali, Tim Thompson, Morgan Beall, Doug Kimzey, Larry Cates, and Richard Hoffman.

Its format is an excellent template for future case studies – namely that of a peer reviewed scientific report with detailed referencing, documentation and extensive appendices backing up the content of core 21-page report. Given that the total document is 270 pages long the SCU Nimitz report will serve as a foundational reference point for the debate, discussion and further research.

The abstract of the report highlights the strengths and limitations of this case study but also notes that further study of this case would be enhanced by access to further the military data that is out there, yet to be revealed in the public domain.”

UFO Conference Presentation Video:
“AAPC 2019 - Robert Powell”

Video text:
“The Scientific Coalition for Ufology (SCU), a 501(c)(3), is sponsoring it’s first conference on the subject of Anomalous Aerospace Phenomena (AAP). A recent announcement in 2017 of the Pentagon Program referred to as the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) clarified that AAPs or what some had previously referred to as Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) were being seen in military exercises. For over seven decades there have been incidents where anomalous and unidentifiable aerial threats have had interactions with the military. This threat has remained elusive and unexplainable, yet persistently present with incredible cases that defy explanations. SCU is an organization composed of affiliate members from science, engineering, astronomy, psychology, chemistry, military and other disciplines with many holding PhDs, BS, BA degrees. These members are people who have a serious interest and have studied this phenomena both seriously and objectively. SCU seeks to hold this conference in the hopes of bringing together other serious minded attendees from Redstone Arsenal, NASA, military defense contractors and academia in order have serious a dialogue about this subject looking at how science can progress in studying the phenomena.”

The Anomalous Aerospace Phenomena Conference was held in Huntsville, Alabama, on 15-17 March 2019.

The Conference was organised by the Scientific Coalition for Ufology (SCU).

The November 2004 USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group 11 UFO incidents occurred about a hundred miles south west of San Diego, California. The UFOs were observed on radar on and off for several days, according to USS Princeton radar operator Kevin M. Day. The main incident occurred on 14 November 2004.

To my knowledge, five U.S. Navy personnel, Kevin M. Day, David Fravor, P. J. Hughes, Omar Lara and Jim Slaight, have talked about the UFO incidents on the Internet.

Kevin M. Day was a radar operator aboard the USS Princeton.

David Fravor, who chased the UFO (resembled a white Tic Tac), was flying his F/A-18F Super Hornet jet fighter.

At the time of the UFO incident, Fravor was the commanding officer of the VFA-41 Black Aces, a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron.

P. J. Hughes was an aviation technician aboard the USS Nimitz.

Omar Lara was a Flight Decker in Air Ops aboard the USS Nimitz.

Lieutenant Commander (later Commander) Jim Slaight was the pilot of the second F/A-18F Super Hornet jet fighter.

On 25 April 2013, at around 9:20 p.m., a UFO/USO was filmed over the Rafael Hernández Airport (before it shortly thereafter dived into the sea) in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, by a DHC-8 Turboprop under the command of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

UFO News Article (Blog):
“Rain, rain & more rain”

By Billy Cox, 27 October 2015
(De Void, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Florida)

Billy Cox presents his fifth article on the 25 April 2013 Aguadilla (Puerto Rico) UFO video (filmed by a DHC-8 Turboprop under the command of U.S. Customs and Border Protection):

Quote from the article:
“Once it became clear CBP wasn’t going to bite, De Void filed a Freedom of Information Act request for a government copy of that video. It was apparently leaked to researchers by Customs insiders and had been lighting up the Internet a year or so before the SCU issued its report. ‘It’s not like they can deny it,’ says SCU co-author Robert Powell. “We’ve got radar records showing their plane in the air at that time.” Still, it seemed important to officially verify the provenance of the controversial clip. The ensuing brushoff a couple of weeks ago, slugged ‘Final Disposition’ and tersely worded as a ‘full denial based on exemptions,’ came as no surprise. But its crimes against coherence were abominable.

‘CBP has determined,’ stated the online rejection notice, ‘that the responsive records are partially releasable, pursuant to Title 5 U.S.C 552 and have applied the appropriate exemptions.’ De Void followed that link to a list of nine itemized potential ‘Exemptions,’ accompanied by three other separate speedbumps beneath a category called ‘Exclusions.’ The range was eclectic; it covered everything from protecting ‘trade secrets’ to ‘unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.’ Unfortunately, the verdict failed to specify exactly which ‘Exemption’ or ‘Exclusion’ the CBP employed to justify its rejection of De Void’s FOIA. Furthermore, whatever the censors deemed ‘partially releasable’ is nowhere in sight.”
