UFO News Article:
“Policeman, UFO Play Tag”

16 November 1973
(Miami News-Record, Oklahoma)

Source: NewspaperArchive.com

The whole article:
“A western Oklahoma police officer said an unidentified flying object played tag with his patrol car early today [16 November 1973] and another UFO landed on the highway behind him when he wasn’t looking.

‘We were watching one of them up in the air and everywhere we would go, it would go,’ Erick Patrolman John Roberts reported. ‘Then I looked in the rear view mirror and there was another one. It had landed on the road about 500 yards behind us.’

Roberts said he and his companions, Freddie Ross and Preston Crosby, both 17 and Erick residents, tried to approach the UFO that landed but it disappeared.

‘Just as we turned around, it was just like somebody had switched off a light switch,’ he said. ‘It was gone.’

The other UFO remained in view about 45 minutes, he said.

‘The one that stayed up was like a bright red and was a sort of pulsating light,’ Roberts said. ‘It would get real bright and then go dim and then bright again. It finally turned a sort of burnt orange.

‘The one I saw in the rear view mirror was a real brilliant blue and it had a constant glow. It was so bright we couldn’t make out any shape to it.’

Roberts said he was on patrol when two youths called his attention to the light in the sky.

‘The one we watched the longest would sort of dart in and out when we moved,’ he said. ‘When we would go toward it, then it would move away. When we went the other way, it was right with us.

‘Sometimes it would zig-zag out in front of us and dart around. Finally it just got a way off and disappeared.’

Roberts said the movements of the objects were ‘too sharp’ for them to have been helicopters of airplanes.

‘I can’t explain what they were but I am convinced there is some sort of UFOs out there,’ he said. ‘I couldn’t believe anything else after what I saw this morning.’ ”

My comment:
A similar UFO incident that also involved police officers occurred in Brownsville, Texas, on 14 November 1973.

The UFO followed the car for 32 kilometres (20 miles). When the driver stopped the car, the unknown object also would stop and when the car speeded up, the unknown object followed suit.

Law enforcement officers in Harlingen and San Benito also sighted the UFO.

Brownsville is the southernmost city in Texas.

Radar Case (BBU 1176)
May 1, 1952
George AFB, California”

Updated: 23 February 2016
(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
Fran Ridge:
The principle witness to the phenomena had been a Lt. Colonel who was Wing Director of Personnel of the 146th Fighter-Bomber Wing headquartered at George Field so it was no wonder the case sparked an immediate reaction by the High Command. This is apparently #1 on Major Dewey Fournet’s ‘motions study’ UFOs cases as presented to the Robertson Panel in January of 1953, whereby he deduced that UFOs were guided by intelligence and the flight characteristics indicated that the intelligence was beyond ‘us’. This is a Project Blue Book unknown and later information (15 Feb 2006) seems to indicate that this might classify as a radar/visual case. (see Lt. Col. link below)

Brad Sparks:
May 1, 1952; George AFB, California (BBU 1176)
10:50 am. An Air Force officer and a group of airmen in a separate location observed a formation of five white disc-shaped objects, three in front and two behind. The trailing objects darted around in zig-zag motions. Suddenly the objects switched to a tight V-formation, made an almost 90-degree turn and sped away over the mountains. The five objects were sighted at George AFB and from a golf course 4 miles away. Observer: S/Sgt David Darbyrsira 146th Air Police Squadron sighted the 5 objects at at George AFB, at 1050 hours PDT, about one hour after a cloud from an atom blast was sighted in the direction of Las Vegas.”

Wikipedia article: “George Air Force Base”:

Quote from the Wikipedia article:
“George Air Force Base was a United States Air Force base located within the city limits, 8 miles northwest, of central Victorville, California, about 75 miles northeast of Los Angeles, California.

George AFB was closed pursuant to a decision by the 1988 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission at the end of the Cold War. It is now the site of the Southern California Logistics Airport.

Established by the United States Army Air Corps as an Advanced Flying School in June 1941, it was closed at the end of World War II. It was again activated as a training base by the United States Air Force with the outbreak of the Korean War in November 1950. It remained a training base throughout the Cold War and in the immediate post-Cold War period, primarily for the Tactical Air Command (TAC) and later the Air Combat Command (ACC), training USAF, NATO and other Allied pilots and weapon systems officers in front-line fighter aircraft until being closed in 1993.

Since 2009, the California Air National Guard’s 196th Reconnaissance Squadron (96 RS) has operated an MQ-1 Predator Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) training facility at the Southern California Logistics Airport.[2]”

UFO News Article:
“LIGHTS IN THE AIR.”

9 August 1909
(The Argus, Melbourne, Australia)

Source: Trove, National Library of Australia, Canberra, ACT,
Australia

The whole article:
“RED, WHITE, AND BLUE. CITY MINISTER’S STORY.

The Rev. B. Cozens, chaplain to the Port Melbourne Seamen’s Mission, came last night into ‘The Argus’ office, and made the following statement about beautiful lights floating on Saturday night (7 August 1909) over the Dandenong Ranges.

‘I had been staying for the week-end at Kangaroo Ground, near Eltham, on a farm in which I have an interest,’ he said. ‘The house is situated on a ridge and commands a splendid view of Dandenong and, on the other side, of the Dividing Range. At 10 o’clock on Saturday night my wife and I saw two beautiful revolving lights high up in the air above the Dandenong Range. These lights whirled like the propellers of ships, slowed down, dipped, and rose again, as if they were beating up in a zig-zag course against the wind. They were about six miles apart, and about half a mile in the air over the top of the range. They changed from white to red, and then to blue, as if they were revolving beacons with three-coloured slides.

‘So as to have some confirmation of what I thought even then might have been an optical illusion, I called out a neighbour, Mr. J. Swain and his two sons. Mr Swain is a monumental mason, and carries on business at the corner of Latrobe and Exhibition streets. We watched the lights from 10 till 12. One of them had almost moved out of sight over the back of the Divide by that time, and the other was working towards the same place. I rose at 2 o’clock and saw the second nearly over the range, and five more very dim in the distance, driving up in the track of the ones we had seen. They were very faint indeed, and very far away. They seemed to be coming from the lakes along the coast. The second followed the track of the first. The whole impression of their movements was that of machinery (my emphasis). After 2 oclock I saw no more of them. None of the neighbours except Mr. Swain and his sons seem to have seen them. They were probably indoors, as the night was cold.’ ”

UFO News Article:
“Lifestyles: Colorado hamlet
strange range for deer”

16 February 1994
(Kingman Daily Miner, Arizona)

The article reports on the UFO/animal mutilation research work of Crestone resident Christopher O’Brien.

Quote from the article:
“And at night, some say, the UFOs come out.

‘I’ve seen all kinds of odd lights in the sky at night,’ says Brian Norton, Rio Grande County undersheriff. ‘Just about everyone has, but they don’t call us about them anymore, not more than once or twice a week anyway.

This matter-of-fact attitude confounds O’Brien.

‘Look, I’m a skeptic,’ he said. ‘I assume that everything has a mundane explanation, and 99 percent of the time that’s the case.

‘But in my database, I’ve collected over 600 unexplained UFO sightings in the valley (San Luis Valley), some witnessed by 30 or more people. And it’s not just a modern phenomenon. This place was considered sacred by the Indians, and the first European explorers reported seeing lights in the sky. This place is what I call high strange.’

O’Brien is in one of his favourite UFO watching spots near the huge Baca Range, a few miles from Crestone. It’s a clear and windy night, and he can see 100 miles in any direction.

O’Brien works with a pair of Army surplus Starlight binoculars that enhance night vision. They date to the Vietnam War, but it is the best equipment he can afford.

‘It allows you to see commercial craft 60 miles away that would be invisible otherwise,’ he says.

Tonight, he is looking for the anomalous lights that dance over the valley in ways no commercial aircraft could.

And around 8 p.m. they appear.

Hovering over the Great Sand Dunes National Monument a few miles to the southeast are orange and white globes of light. They do zig-zag maneuvers in formation, break apart and then reassemble. Sometimes, they come to a full stop and just sit in the sky.

And although the occasional commercial plane fills the valley with the rumbling sound of its engines, these craft are silent. The only sound is the wind over the desert.

‘My guess is what we’re seeing is some kind of helicopter technology being tested,’ O’Brien says. ‘Maybe some top secret black budget project. But we’ll never know.’

David Jaramillo has been the UPS delivery driver in the San Luis Valley for 21 years. He’s also a small rancher. Like most residents of the valley, he says he’s seen incredible lights in the sky and, once or twice, has seen them land and take off.

Last fall, he took his family up to the cabin he keeps in the Sangres at 10,000 feet. They found a cow nearby that had been killed and mutilated with surgical precision.

Nearby, Jaramillo says he found circles pressed into the ground, each 4 feet in diameter, about 15 feet apart, forming a triangle. He guesses it’s where some sort of craft landed.

‘It’s impossible to get here by road without cutting through my gates,’ he says. ‘And besides, this place is in the middle of nowhere. It’s impossible to find.’

Cattle mutilations are old news most places, usually ascribed to natural causes such as predators. But they happen with alarming regularity in the San Luis Valley.”

“UFO Sightings Are Reported In Venice Area”

31 August 1976
(Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Florida)

Quote from the article:
“Two Venice residents reported seeing unidentified flying objects (UFO) late Saturday and early Sunday (28 and 29 August 1976).

Lori Nyland, 233 Warfield St., Venice, told the Herald-Tribune she saw lights in the sky on three occasions late Saturday night between 9:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Kathy Shane, 232 S. Grove St., Venice, reported seeing fast moving lights in a V-formation in the pre-dawn darkness at 6 a.m. She described the sightings as, ‘A flock of geese all lit up.’

The sightings both occurred in the industrial section of Venice near U.S. 41 and Venice Farms Road.

Nyland told the Herald -Tribune she did not believe in UFOs before she saw a single oval-shaped white light moving up and down a few inches above the trees on U.S. 41.

‘Then it just disappeared.’

She said she again saw the light when she was approaching her apartment. The second sighting was similar to the first, but a third sighting consisted of five lights in a V-formation moving across the sky and then zig-zagging just above the nearby tree tops.

Before this weekend’s sightings the most recent area UFO sighting was in June when DeSoto County residents reported seeing an orange, yellow and red UFO in the farmlands near Arcadia.’ ”

Translation of News Article From ‘CLARIN,’ Buenos Aires,
July 7, 1965 (NICAP.org text):

(NICAP.org)

Quote from the news article:
“Numerous Personnel of the Antarctic bases of three nations: Argentina, Chile and Great Britain, in conditions of optimum visibility, observed (on 3 July 1965) the maneuvers of an unidentified ‘Flying Object.’ So state official communications from the area, including one from the Secretary of the Navy of our country. Independently, the ‘Clarin’ has communicated directly with the Decepcion Base, obtaining from the base commander the details of the sighting.

Santiago, Chile. 6 (Cables of AP AFP Reuter, ANSA y ‘Clarin Agency’) Argentine, British and Chilean military and scientific personnel sighted an unidentified flying object which gave off or glowed with a white light, at high altitude and came at considerable speed in a Southeast direction. The release indicates the object flew a zig-zag path and appeared to hover momentarily suspended in the air. The information caused commotion, when released to the public.”
