UFO news article:
“Roundtown Policemen Sees UFO”

16 October 1973
(The Circleville Herald, Ohio)

The whole article:
“Once again the sighting of unidentified flying objects has been reported in the skies over Circleville with area residents and two city police officers seeing the strange phenomenon Monday night [15 October 1973 (?)] and early Tuesday morning [16 October 1973 (?)]. Donald M. smith, lot 19, Wilson Trailer Court, called local authorities 4:23 a.m. Tuesday to report a large golden object in the sky southwest of the city. He told officers he had spotted the unidentified object earlier when he left work in Columbus. When he arrived home, he once again spotted the UFO as he got out of his car.

Ptl. Ron Smith and Mike Golden were dispatched to the scene and both reported seeing a large golden object in the sky. It appeared to be emitting a large red plume and was moving in circles as the officers viewed it.

The officers notified base operations al Lockbourne Air Base of the sighting but did not receive any explanation.

Myra LeRoy of Stoutsville, an X-ray technician at Berger Hospital also reported the sighting of a strange object in the sky.

She stated that she was on her way to work from Stoutsville about 8 p.m. when she noticed a sphere, emitting a dull light, in the southwest sky. It appeared to be much lower than the stars.

She left work at the hospital at 9:15 p.m. and the object could still be seen in the sky to the east.

‘It frightened me,’ she said, ‘and I certainly don’t ever want to get any closer to one.’ ”
