Marshall County (Warren, Minnesota) Deputy Sheriff Val Johnson encountered a small UFO which damaged his car on 27 August 1979, The Milwaukee Journal reports:

Johnson first sighted the UFO at around 2:00 a.m., according to the Wikipedia article about the UFO incident. After having watched the UFO for a while, it suddenly dived at his car and hit the windshield. The car skidded across the highway and ended up in the ditch. Johnson lost consciousness after the UFO hit the windshield. The incident occurred in the Red River Valley, an agricultural area in North-Western Minnesota near the North Dakota border.

An unknown force damaged a woman’s car as she drove on Lake-Cook Road in Northbrook, Illinois on 4 November 2008, at around 9:19 p.m., according to the Northbrook Star.

No paint was removed, and it’s unlikely that the car hit a deer, since no hair or blood was found.

Quote from the article:
“ ‘ ... The entire left side of my car appears to be scorched but no paint was removed,’ the driver is quoted as saying on the website.”

Director of Illinois MUFON, Sam Maranto (not Matrano) has investigated this case.

NOTE: UFO Roundup and Agence France Presse reported on this UFO incident in November 1998. The Chinese Air Force jet
fighter pilot chased 1 UFO (not 2, as reported here earlier), according to the articles (misunderstanding due to language differences between English and Chinese). The crew of the J-6 jet fighter consisted of a pilot and a radar officer. According to the UFO Roundup article, the UFO disappeared before two more modern Chinese jet fighters could arrive in the area. The UFO was sighted by 140 people at the Air Force Base. And the UFO was tracked by radar.
