Nature of sighting: Luminous phenomenon at close range - suspected landing traces found

Conclusion

It seems that an extraordinary phenomenon has been observed for a prolonged period by several, apparantly reliable witnesses.

At one instance, the phenomenon was seen close (to) or at the ground, probably leaving markings in the snow. At any rate, being discovered by the witnesses the day after, it would be natural to connect these markings with the phenomenon’s descent.

Considering the laboratory tests, they seem somewhat inconclusive at the moment. The microbiological tests showed a definite difference between test and reference samples; however, the elemental analysis was indiscriminating.

As usual with cases like these, it is difficult to draw any definite conclusion. Assuming that the witnesses haven’t misperceived known phenomena (i.e. the moon, which may be the main culprit), we might safely state that something extraordinary has been observed, which has probably left physical traces on the ground – a classical CE II-case.”

A Norwegian UFO documentary film called “UFO også i Norge?” (“UFO also in Norway?”) (youtube.com (Source: serpentineufo (YouTube channel)) reports (starts at 21:12 minutes into the documentary) on the Haukeli UFO sightings. The UFO documentary film is presented at the website, NETI.ws, Norway.

A drawing and a photo of the alleged UFO landing traces (found at the shoreline of Øydeskyvatn (a mountain lake)) are shown respectively at 22:00 minutes and 22:31 minutes into the documentary.

The three spiral shaped circles had a diameter of about 50 centimetres, according to Signe Mjåland (a high school advisor). The distance between the circles was 3 metres (measured from the outside of the circles). 

“A probable fourth print was covered by water …,” the UFO-Norway News article says.

The UFO resembled the moon, according to the witnesses. Signe Mjåland said (in the documentary) that the object looked like a large halogen lamp and glowed red on the bottom. A drawing of the UFO is shown at 21:47 minutes into the documentary.

And one time when one of the witnesses shone a flashlight at the UFO –  it shut off the light, according to Signe Mjåland.

Norwegian Local Politician Finds UFO Landing Traces, Kjølsøya, the Namsen Fjord, Norway, 11 June 1972

Ola Kr. Dahl, a local communal politician from Namsos, Norway, discovered several strange traces in the clay ground along the shore of the Namsen Fjord (Namsenfjorden) on 11 June 1972. It was while he visited his cottage on Kjølsøya (island) that he discovered the UFO traces close to land.

The imprints were triangular shaped, and they were pressed 30 to 40 centimeters into the clay ground. That means that the landed object must have been extremely heavy. Some scientists were of the opinion that the landed object must have weighed between 20 and 50 tons. The traces were found during the ebb.

According to Arve Dahl (interview in the NRK UFO TV documentary, ‘Traces in the fjord’), the son of Ola Kr. Dahl, 2 of the traces were large equilateral triangles (the sides measured 1.5 metre) and several other smaller equilateral triangles (1 metre). Arve Dahl also said that the area at Kjølsøya where the UFO landed, is 2.5 acres during the ebb, and is very visible from the air.

Another interesting occurrence that took place on the night of
9 June is probably linked to this case. That night several families in Bangsund experienced a strong interference with their TV signal before they lost their TV signal for a short while. Televerket (the Norwegian state telecommunications agency) didn’t find anything wrong with the TV transmitter when they checked it the next day. And every TV set started to function perfectly a short while after the TV signal was lost on 9 June. Bangsund is situated 1.5 kilometres from Kjølsøya.

And this story doesn’t stop there. Exactly similar UFO landing traces were found at Leirvikholmen (island) (20 imprints), Sundsøya (island), Varpneset and Sundsvatnet (lake) in the same general area.

Soil samples were sent to the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH – now NTNU) in Trondheim. NTH determined that the imprints on Sundsøya and Leirvikholmen were radioactive. Furthermore, NTH reported that the radioactive particles were foreign to them. This case represents the first time that scientists have found radioactive particles at a UFO landing site in Norway.

At each of the UFO landing sites in the Namsen Fjord, the unknown object (or objects) has (have) landed on clay ground in the fjord (and lake) and close to land. Researchers (both scientists and UFO researchers) who investigated this case admitted that they didn’t have a clue as to what it was that had landed in the Namsen Fjord in June 1972.

Everyone who researched this case was of the opinion that the object(s) which made the traces must have come through the air, because no vehicle tracks or boot imprints were found at the sites. And based on how heavy the object(s) must have been, they excluded the helicopter theory.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

NRK (the state broadcaster) broadcasted a UFO TV documentary in the late 1990s regarding the Namsen Fjord UFO cases throughout the years. The TV documentary was called, ‘Traces in the fjord’.

The UFO research of Arnulf Løken, a UFO-Norge representative who has researched the Namsen Fjord UFO cases, was presented in this TV documentary.

Løken recounts that, apart from the aforementioned UFO landing sites, UFO landing traces were also found at Våganvika and Hoddøya (island). According to Løken, the 3 traces at Hoddøya were very interesting. They were placed in an equilateral triangle and the distance between the traces was 9 meters. Also at this UFO landing site the traces were equilateral triangles, which were pressed into the clay ground.

Several of Norway’s leading UFO researchers are of the opinion that the Namsen Fjord area, the general area between Trondheim and Namsos – is the area in Norway which has had the most UFO sightings throughout the years. According to the NRK UFO TV report, hundreds of UFO sightings have been made in this area during the last six decades. Interesting UFO videos and photographs have also been recorded in this area.

UFO TV Documentary Excerpts: “Spor I Fjorden” (“Traces In the Fjord”)

The documentary is about a 1959 UFO incident (large, cylindrical shaped object) and two alleged 1972 UFO incidents which occurred in the Namdalen, Norway area (Namsen and Lyngen Fjords), near the town of Namsos.

The first part (videos No. 1-3) is about the Kjølsøya (island) UFO landing traces (traces found in the Lyngen Fjord, close to land), which were discovered on 11 June 1972. NRK presents an interview with Arve Dahl. The traces were observed by Arve Dahl, his father, Ola Kr. Dahl and his cousin.

Exactly similar UFO landing traces were found at Leirvikholmen (island) (20 imprints), Sundsøya (island), Varpneset and Sundsvatnet (lake) in the same general area.

The Robertson Panel was a committee commissioned by the Central Intelligence Agency in 1952 in responses to widespread Unidentified Flying Object reports, especially in the Washington, D.C. area.

The Robertson Panel first met formally on January 14, 1953 under the direction of Howard Percy Robertson. He was a physicist, a CIA employee and director of the Defense Department Weapons Evaluation Group.

Other panel members were respected scientists and military personnel who had worked on other classified military projects or studies. All were then skeptical of UFO reports, though to varying degrees: Thornton Page, astrophysicist, deputy director of Johns Hopkins' Operations Research Office (was one of seven committee members).

The committee suggested the Air Force should begin a "debunking" effort to reduce "public gullibility" and demystify UFO reports. The panel suggested a public relations campaign, using psychiatrists, astronomers and assorted celebrities to significantly reduce public interest in UFO's. It was also recommended that the mass media be used for the debunking, including influential media giants like Walt Disney Corporation.

Many ufologists argue that the Robertson Panel recommendations were put into effect and the resulting official debunkery relegated the subject matter permanently to the fringe, both in the mainstream media and scientific communities. Also after the Robertson Panel, Project Blue Book was reduced in status and stripped of most of duties of investigating serious UFO cases, which were instead secretly turned over to a newly-formed division of the Air Defense Command. Directives were also issued not to discuss the unexplainable cases with the public and to reduce the percentage of unknowns to a minimum.

Though the CIA's official history suggests that the Robertson Panel's conclusions were never carried out, there is evidence that contradicts this. Perhaps the most unambiguous evidence for the Robertson Panel's covert impact on news media reporting about UFOs is a personal letter by Dr. Thornton Page, discovered in the Smithsonian archives by sociologist Michael D. Swords. The 1966 letter, addressed to former Robertson Panel Secretary Frederick C. Durant, confides that Page "helped organize the CBS TV show around the Robertson Panel conclusions." Page was no doubt referring to the CBS Reports TV broadcast of the same year, "UFOs: Friend, Foe or Fantasy?" narrated by Walter Cronkite. (Incidentally, this program was criticized for inaccurate and misleading presentations). Page's letter indicates that the Robertson Panel was still putting a negative spin on UFO news at least 13 years after the panel met.”

My comment:
In the above article we find clear evidence for the fact that Dr. Thornton Page helped organize the CBS UFO documentary, which was narrated by Walter Cronkite.

The CBS UFO TV news report regarding the 1973 U.S. UFO wave, which I posted an article about on 31 May 2009, makes a whole lot more sense after knowing that the CBS legend Walter Cronkite and CIA committee member Dr. Thornton Page collaborated on a UFO debunking documentary in 1966.

And what’s the picture today? Who knows?! One thing is for certain – I’ve never ever seen a U.S. TV news channel present a self obtained declassified U.S. government FOIA UFO document. Furthermore, I haven’t seen a single TV news channel in Europe present a ditto UFO document either. Why don’t TV news channels want to present previously top secret UFO facts, which have been collected by their own government?

Civilian UFO researchers, both in the U.S. and Europe, have after all unearthed thousands of previously classified government UFO documents during the last three decades.

The Tim Edwards, Salida, Colorado UFO Video

The late Tim Edwards’ UFO video is one of the most famous UFO videos ever. He recorded the video on 27 August 1995,
at 9:30 a.m.

He managed to record footage of a large, cylindrical shaped, self-luminous UFO and three small UFO spheres. The UFO spheres were seen manoeuvring low over Salida.

It was Edwards' daughter who first noticed the large UFO and alerted her father. One can hear that he talked with his daughter about the sighting while he was filming the UFOs.

The 2018 documentary (produced by filmmaker David C. Beaty) recounts the 14 November 2004 USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group 11 UFO incident (occurred about a hundred miles south west of San Diego, California).
