A USAF jet interceptor climbed to 20,000 feet to try and
identify an unidentified flying object high above. The CAA said the jet was
unable to get close enough to see the object clearly. The object appeared to be
drifting slowly against prevailing winds at that altitude. (Reference: Daily

Constructed in the early 1940s during World War II as a training base
for bombers, after the war it briefly had transports, then was a bomber and
missile base. It became a fighter base 54 years ago in 1966.”
