UFO News Article:
“ ‘FLYING SAUCERS’ CONFIRMED
BY NOWRA RADAR”
17 December 1954
(Northern Star, Lismore ,
Australia )
Source: Trove, National Library of Australia , Canberra ,
ACT,
The whole article:
“ ‘Flying Saucers’ reported by a Nowra Fleet Air Arm pilot
are being investigated by Naval Headquarters in Melbourne .
The pilot, Lieutenant O’Farrell, saw two objects which
he took to be ‘flying saucers’ when flying at night over Goulburn, N.S.W., on a
return trip to Nowra.
He told authorities at Nowra, naval air station and
base for the Fleet Air Arm, that he saw what appeared to be the lights of two
aircraft when flying at about 285
miles an hour.
He said a ‘saucer’ flew on each side of him, circled
his plane, and then drew rapidly away.
At his request the Nowra radar crew fixed his position
and reported back that the screen showed an echo of another object moving along
his Sea Fury.
This is the first known case in which unidentified
objects in the sky have been confirmed by radar.
Authorities ascertained there were no other military
aircraft in the vicinity at the time.
The Minister for the Navy, Mr. Francis, confirmed tonight
that a pilot from Nowra air station had recently observed two lights on his
radar ‘with vague shapes underneath.’
Mr. Francis was commenting on reports today that a
pilot from Nowra some months ago had reported seeing two lighted objects flying
close to his plane and at a faster speed than his aircraft.
The objects have been described as ‘Flying Saucers’ because
their identity is unknown.
Mr. Francis in his statement said, ‘It is a fact that
on a night cross country flight from the R.A.N. station, Nowra, on August 3 (1954), a pilot
in his aircraft at 13,000
feet observed two lights on his radar with vague shapes
underneath.
‘The lights passed ahead of him at a very fast speed.
He was at the time flying at 220 knots. The pilot contacted Nowra and advised
them.
‘It was later ascertained that the only other aircraft
in the vicinity was a T.A.A. Convair.’
Mr. Francis added that the pilot, was in the vicinity
of Goulburn when he made his observation.
No further report of the pilot’s discovery had been received
yet from R.A.A.F. headquarters.
NOT METEORITES
Dr. S. C. B. Gascoigne, of the Commonwealth observatory,
Mt. Stromlo , commenting on Mr. Francis’
statement tonight, said it was highly unlikely and almost impossible that the
objects could have been meteorites.
This was because the objects as reported were too low
in the sky and had apparently persisted for too long.
Unless the objects were much higher than reported or
were due to a ‘meteorological refraction,’ which also was unlikely, their
identification was baffling.
The report of the pilot ‘just about ruled out
meteorites or hallucinations.’ ”

UFO Landing Trace Case
Quote from NICAP.org’s “The 1969 UFO Chronology” (nicap.org):
“Neighbors of the family contributed the remarks that
their dogs were making a racket that evening. Van Horne stands as one of the
best ‘landing effects’ cases on record. This is because it has multiple
witnesses, an immediate corroberation of the trace by someone who knew exactly
the state of his farm fields, no desire for publicity [in fact a parent who
blocked almost all of it], no motivation [in fact, a loss of valuable crop],
multiple, early-on-scene investigators with good track records for
straight-shooting, and a fairly large and mysterious effect. On some scales of
rating ‘trace’ cases, this might be #1.”

Amber Disc Stops, Reverses Direction
April 12, 1952
North Bay CFS, Ontario, Canada”
(NICAP.org)
The whole UFO case report:
“Brad Sparks:
April 12, 1952; North Bay CFS, Ontario , Canada
(46.30° N, 79.46° W). (BBU 1108)
9:30 p.m. At 2230 local time, Warrant Officer E. H.
Rossell and Flight Sergeant Reg McRae, observed a bright amber disc in the sky.
The disc came in from the southwest and moved across the RCAF Station airfield
at North Bay ,
stopped and moved off again in the reverse direction. It then climbed at an
angle of 30 degrees at terrific speed and disappeared.
Dan Wilson:
This was a sighting that got the attention of the
Canadian Government and prompted them to begin a UFO investigation, Project
Second Story. This area of Ontario
has had many UFO sightings over the years. The reason might be is that Sudbury , Ontario , just
west of North Bay ,
is very rich in nickel deposits. The International Nickel Company INCO is
located here. Tons of nickel powder was shipped to Oak Ridge , Tennessee ,
for use in the barriers in the gaseous diffusion process in the enrichment of
Uranium 235 at the K-25 plant. See: ‘Nickel Powder/Nuclear Weapons, The Untold
Story,’ below.”

“A 1977 ‘MUTE’ CHRONOLOGY
The following listing can in no way claim to be
complete. As always, we suspect that we are unaware of many mutilation
incidents. Some are reported to law enforcement agencies, but do not surface in
the press; others are not reported ‘officially’ at all. We are fortunate to
have learned of a few such occurrences through word-of-mouth. It will be noted that
in 1977, as in the previous year, mutilations were occurring spottily but
steadily, but with nowhere near the intensity of the extensive and inexorable
wave of 1975, when hundreds of possible mutilations were reported.
Nevertheless, we can draw attention to one important fact – they
have yet to cease:

UFO Article (Blog):
“Massive Quantity Of Unreleased UFO
Files Held By New Zealand Government”
By Paul Dean, 14 July 2017
(UFOs – Documenting The Evidence, Melbourne , Australia )
Quote from the article:
“On the 3rd of August, 1985, researcher Timothy Good
wrote to the Air Vice Marshal Ewan Jamieson, Chief of the Air Staff, at the
Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Wellington , New Zealand , asking what the New Zealand
military’s official stance on UFOs was. In a 6th of September, 1985 reply to
Good, Wing Commander S. D. White, writing on behalf of Air Vice Marshal Ewan
Jamieson, stated:
‘New
Zealand ’s Ministry of Defence is not
specifically charged with any formal responsibility for investigating UFOs…
…and neither is any other government department. The Ministry does however take
an active interest in all such reports and within the limitations of its
resources conducts investigations as necessary.’
This official statement, and quite a few others like
it, was somewhat misleading.
In March, 2017, I accessed Archives New Zealand, which
is that country's official national archive and records repository, and entered
a series of keywords into the ‘Archway’ search engine. Using the keywords ‘unidentified
flying object,’ ‘ufo,’ ‘unidentified flying objects,’ ‘ufos,’ ‘unknown object,’
‘unknown objects,’ ‘flying saucers’ and the like, I was surprised to see
numerous hits displayed in the results. Of course, New Zealand ’s government has
already released numerous files, so any search results which included these
items were expected. What I didn’t expect was a listing of hitherto unknown
files, some of which are ‘restricted’ from public access for decades to come. I
should state that these unreleased files were not totally unknown to at least a
handful of researchers. British based researcher Isaac Koi, for example,
discussed the existence of these records some time ago on the internet forum
Above Top Secret, and Keith Basterfield mentioned some of the items in various New Zealand
focused blogposts in 2010.
The first file of note, which should have been
released in 2010, is titled ‘Intelligence – Defence – Unidentified Sightings.’
The record number for this item is ‘244/1/7’ and the date range spans from 1963
to 1976. The current controlling agency of the file is the New Zealand Defence
Force (NZDF), but the original controlling agency, presumably, will be either a
top–echelon division of the Ministry of Defence (MoD), or, one of New Zealand ’s
armed forces branches. Traditionally, New Zealand ’s defence apparatus
has, like most nations, always included an Army, Navy and Air Force. Either
way, the file metadata gives no clue as to its origin. Moreover, as noted, this
file is clearly a MoD item of some sort, and the NZDF is listed as the most
recent controlling entity, so the notion that the NZDF released all of its UFO
files in 2010 is quite incorrect. Having said that, the file is listed as ‘Open
Access,’ so someone in the NZDF has cleared it for release.”

UFO Book Quotes:
Quotes From Edward J. Ruppelt’s Book,
The Report On Unidentified Flying Objects
Source: NICAP.org
These quotes are mentioned in Terry Hansen’s book, The Missing Times – News Media Complicity in
the UFO Cover-up.
“CHAPTER ONE: Project Blue Book and the UFO Story.13”
“Our policy on releasing information was to answer
only direct questions from the press. If the press didn't know about a given
UFO incident, they naturally couldn't ask questions about it. Consequently such
stories were never released. In other instances, when the particulars of a UFO
sighting were released, they were only the bare facts about what was reported.
Any additional information that might have been developed during later
investigations and analyses was not released.”
(The Missing
Times (Page 163))
“CHAPTER TWELVE: 164.The Report on Unidentified Flying
Objects”
“…, I knew that this was absurd because any ham radio
operator worth his salt could build equipment and listen in on any intercept.
The real reason for the press dismissal, I learned, was that not a few people
in the radar room were positive that this night would be the big night in UFO
history – the night when a pilot would close in on and get a good look at a UFO
and they didn't want the press to be in on it.”
(The Missing
Times (Page 161))
