“Canadian NORAD Jets Chase UFOs”

By Victor Viggiani – ZlandCommunications, 21 November 2013
(UFO UpDates, Toronto, Canada)

ZlandCommunications News Network has obtained five Canadian government/Canadian Department of National Defence UFO documents, according to the post:

The documents indicate that Canadian NORAD CF-18 jet fighters were scrambled (from Canadian Forces Base Comox in British Columbia, Canada) to intercept ‘unknown tracks’ that had entered Canadian airspace in an unauthorised manner in 2001.

UFO Report:
“The 1964 UFO Chronology”

Created: 9 June 2006,
Updated: 1 November 2013
(NICAP.org)

Quote from the web page:
“Following the UFO wave of 1957, a drought of sightings ran from 1958 to about 1964. Larry Hatch catalogued about 100 events per year in that period with his ‘U’ Database, the lowest count being 1963 with only 61 sightings. The 1954 European wave included some physical trace cases, and there was a scattering of reports after that. However, cases of this type increased markedly after 1963. 1964 was the year the landing reports became more prominent, beginning with the blockbuster event on April 24 at Socorro, New Mexico. (Note: Brad Sparks: My impression is that 1958-63 were not a ‘drought’ at all, that it is only the civilian outsider's viewpoint not knowing what the AF was collecting.  The BB files indicate a continuing stream of high quality UFO cases some of astounding merit). As far as 1964 was concerned, we all note a surprising lack of sightings reported in the first three months..

Our thanks for these chronologies must go to our documentation team: Rebecca Wise (Project Blue Book Archive), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), Jean Waskiewicz (UFO dBase), and Brad Sparks (Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns).

The issue contains the articles, “World-Wide Impact – UFO EVIDENCE TO CONGRESS,” “Wave of Close-Range Sightings Reported,” “Outline: The UFO Evidence,” “Physical Evidence – LANDING REPORTS,” “Other Recent Sightings” and “Review Comments”:

Quote from the article, ‘Wave of Close-Range Sightings Reported’:
“A rotating UFO, emitting a hissing sound, hovered ‘like a humming-bird’ over the car of a South Carolina businessman June 29. This was the second car-pacing incident in a week along the Atlantic seaboard, the scene of the most recent UFO activity.

The sighting wave which began late in April, the largest since November 1957, has continued steadily ever since. It has included an unprecedented number of landing, near-landing and close approach cases.

The first case to be widely publicized was the report of an egg-shaped UFO observed on the ground near Socorro, N.M., April 24 by Officer Lonnie Zamora (see separate story). For about a week the reports were carried on the newswires and made front page headlines in many cities. National TV networks reported some of the landing cases, showing films of the sites. Then the news faded off the newswires and front pages. But the reports continued.

The most commonly reported shapes have been oval and disc. Sound has been heard in an unusual number of cases, and body lights have been visible in nighttime sightings.”

Quote from the article:
Sightings eras are in colors: 71 events from 1896 through 1959 show as Blue spots. 104 more from 1960 through 1974 are Violet, and 41 from 1975 to the present are Green.

Utah had more sightings (134) than Nevada (81), mainly due to a single researcher, Dr. Frank Salisbury. His work shows as the violet cluster of events in Northeastern Utah.”

UFO News Article:
“Utah ranch boasts UFOs,
crop circles, cow mutilations”

5 July 1996 (Kingman Daily Miner, Arizona)

The Kingman Daily Miner informs about the alleged UFO incidents that occurred on the ranch of Terry and Gwen Sherman during 1995 and 1996:

The ranch is located just south of Fort Duchesne, North-Eastern Utah.

Quote from the article:
“ ‘For a long time we wondered what we were seeing, if it was something to do with a top-secret project,’ said Terry Sherman, ‘I don’t know really what to think about it.’

The Shermans and their son and daughter say they have seen three types of UFOs repeatedly during the past 15 months – a small boxlike craft about 8 feet long, a 40-foot-long object and a ship the size of several football fields.

They say one craft emits a wavy red ray or light beam as it flies along.

The Shermans said they videotaped two sightings.

They said they once discovered three circles of flattened grass, each about 8 feet across, in a triangular pattern about 30 feet from each other. In a nearby pasture, other strange soil impressions have been found – circles about 3 feet wide and a foot or 2 deep with the dirt in the center perfectly flattened, they said.”

UFO News Article:
“HAFB Checking –
‘Flying Saucer’ Observed Over Valley”

3 October 1961
(Deseret News/Salt Lake Telegram, Salt Lake City, Utah)

Waldo J. Harris, a civilian pilot, and seven other persons witnesses sighted a disk shaped UFO over the Utah Central Airport, Granger, Utah (now known as West Valley City), a suburb of Salt Lake City, on 2 October 1961, according to the article:

Quote from the article:
“Air Force officials Tuesday were investigating reports by at least eight observers, including a veteran pilot, that a ‘flying saucer’ was seen hovering over the southern Salt Lake Valley Monday.

Investigation teams from Hill Air Force Base Monday questioned the observers, including pilot Waldo J. Harris, 531 Garfield Ave. (1831 South), who was the first to sight the unidentified object.

Mr. Harris was preparing to take off on a routine flight Monday shortly before noon from Utah Central Airport, 3200 W. 2100 South, when he saw the object south of the field.

Harris said he was about five miles from the disc when he first sighted it and attempted to close in on the object.

‘When I got about three miles from the object, it suddenly moved upward like an elevator and began to move south.’

The object had no visible portholes or exhaust smoke.

It was flying at about 6,500 to 7,000 feet, Mr. Harris told HAFB security officers.”

“U.F.O. Investigator”

Vol. V, No. 1, September-October 1969

The issue contains the articles, “SUBMERGING UFO REPORTED,” “UFO CLEARING HOUSE RECOMMENDED,” “BOOK COVERS HEARINGS,” “HIDDEN REPORT – Pilot ‘Dog-Fights’ A UFO,” “NICAP BOOK READY SOON,” “English Documentary” and “NICAP PANEL STUDIES OCCUPANT REPORTS”:

Quote from the article, ‘HIDDEN REPORT – Pilot ‘Dog-Fights’ A UFO’: “The former AF pilot is now a captain on a major airline. Because of the airline’s policy, he had to remain anonymous as he described – off camera – his 12-year-old sighting.

At the time of the encounter, he and another AF pilot were flying F-86-D jet interceptors over the central San Joaquin Valley of California. After the Castle AFB tower asked if he could detect a UFO he saw a circular, luminescent object which he estimated as between 50 and 100 feet in diameter. As be tried to close in, with the second F-86, the UFO dived into a cloud.

In an attempt to box in the unknown object one pilot flew above the cloud, the other below it. A ‘dog-fight’ between cloud layers resulted, with the UFO ascending and descending vertically ‘at quite a speed.’

For a brief period, the captain reported, he got a radar lock-on to the object. As this happened, the UFO appeared to contract and fade away. At other times, he said, the object apparently would allow them to approach to a certain distance and then maneuver up and down to keep them from getting too close. Near the end of the encounter, the UFO reversed the chase pattern, following the second F-86 before finally disappearing upward into the clouds.

Details of the sighting were reported to Castle AFB.”
