UK Government UFO Document:
“POSSIBLE UFO SIGHTINGS”

March 1993
(Royal Air Force, Ministry of Defence, London, UK)

The whole document (not written in UK Ministry of Defence document format):
“1. I have to report that at RAF Cosford on 31 Mar 93 at 0115 hours in company with Cpl [blacked out text] RAF Police, I was on mobile patrol of Leeming Road, adjacent to the Gravel Car Park when I saw two bright lights in the sky above the Airfield. The lights appeared to be flying at great velocity in a South Easterly direction at an altitude of approximately 1000 feet. The lights were circular in shape and gave off no beam. They were creamy white in colour and constant in size and in relation to each other.

2. I brought the vehicle to a standstill and pointed out the lights to Cpl [blacked out text]. I switched off the vehicle engine and we both got out of the car and observed the lights. There was no sound of any engine noise despite there being no wind and the sky being free from cloud. The lights were observed over-flying the Unit and away towards the Wolverhampton area. A slight red glow could be seen from the rear of the lights as they disappeared from view over the horizon. The lights were visible for approximately one minute.

3. Myself and Cpl [blacked out text] then returned to the COC and I contacted RAF Shawbury. I was informed that there were no aircraft flying from there.

4. At 0125 hours, I contacted ATC at RAF Lyneham and was informed that there were no known aircraft in the area of Cosford.

5. At 0127 hours, I contacted RAF Brize Norton and was informed the same.

6. At 0128 hours, I was informed by the Ord Cpl, Cpl [blacked out text] that a Mr [blacked out text] Brereton, Rugeley, Staffordshire had reported seeing the same lights over Rugeley. Four members of Mr [blacked out text] party had also witnessed the lights. Mr [blacked out text] had followed the lights which he described as being cream in colour at an altitude of 900-1000 feet and at an estimated size of 200 metres. He could hear a humming noise as the object flew directly above him. Mr [blacked out text] stated that he believed that the object landed in an area known as Hazelslade but when he approached he could not find and signs of the landing. Mr [blacked out text] was instructed to inform his local Civil Police Force, which he did, and during a subsequent conversation, it was established that a Constable from Staffordshire Police had visited Mr [blacked out text].

7. At 0130 hours, I informed West Mercia Police, WPC [blacked out text] of the sightings.

8. At 0140 hours, I informed HQ P&SS (UK), Cpl [blacked out text] of the incident.

9. At 0142 hours, I informed RAF West Drayton, Lt Cdr [blacked out text] of the incident, and he confirmed that there was no military aircraft of any kind in UK airspace and there had not been since 0001 hours.

10. At 0143 hours, the Senior Air Traffic Controller at Birmingham International Airport was contacted, and he confirmed that there were no civilian aircraft in Cosford Airspace and had not been for some hours.

11. At 0215 hours, OC RAF Police Flt and the Ord Off, Flt Lt [blacked out text] were informed of the incident.

12. At 0250 hours, Mr [blacked out text] RAF Shawbury Met Office, contacted Cpl [blacked out text] and stated that he had seen two lights in the sky at RAF Shawbury. The lights were first sighted approximately 15-20 kms away and Mr [blacked out text] observed them travel towards him over the Airfield moving erratically at hundreds of miles per hour unlike any aircraft. He described the lights as appearing to be searching for something. He heard a low humming noise and watched the object for 5 minutes until it disappeared from sight in a southerly direction. Mr [blacked out text] stated that he had been a Met Officer for 8 years and had never seen anything like it before.

13. At 0300 hours, Cpl [blacked out text] contacted a Mr [blacked out text], the Met Officer at Bristol Airport, who stated that similar lights had been seen there at 0055 hours. He had initially put the lights down to adverse meteor activity but in the light of the subsequent reports recorded it as unidentified.

14. At 0310 hours, West Marcia Police were made aware of the further reports and would contact Staffordshire and Avon & Somerset Forces to correlate the reports.

15. At 0330 hours I resumed normal duties.

UFO Radio Interview:
“Robert Schroeder, Solving the UFO Enigma?”

Streamed live: 4 April 2018
(Podcast UFO, Sebago, Maine)

Source: Martin Willis Live Shows (YouTube channel)

Video text:
“Robert L. Schroeder is the author of the book ‘Solving the UFO Enigma: How Modern Physics is Revealing the Technology of UFOs’. Recently retired after 26 years from Hewlett-Packard where he was involved in operations and product management. He has degrees in math from Rutgers University and in aerospace engineering. Robert will talk about how new developments in physics such as extra dimensions and string theory may be pointing at an explanation of UFO technology. He will look at how gathering better data from UFO encounters such as the types of radiation these craft emit could reveal if they are using technology we are on the threshold of understanding ourselves.”

My comment:
Schroeder also talks about his November 1957 Teaneck, New Jersey, UFO sighting. He recounts that he saw two UFOs (which flew towards New York City), one cigarette shaped UFO (with blunt ends) which was followed by a smaller UFO.

UFO News Article:
“Magazine is based in Stover –
If you’re a UFO enthusiast, then turn to ‘Skylook’ ”

5 August 1973
(The Sedalia Democrat, Missouri)

Source: NewspaperArchive.com

The whole article:
“Wherever there is a group of people who share a common interest, you are likely to find a special interest magazine. Now there’s one for people whose hobby or science (depending on their degree of involvement) is hunting unidentified flying objects (UFO’s). It’s a 20 page ‘ufozine’ called ‘Skylook.’

The editor and publisher of ‘Skylook’ is a mild-mannered retiree named Mrs. Norma Short, Stover. She spends about six hours a day editing and rewriting reports of UFO sightings received through daily correspondence.

Mrs. Short explained that the ‘Skylook’ policy ‘has always been to ‘tell it as it is,’ and to separate fact from fantasy in investigating and reporting UFO sightings. We do not carry reports of little green men from Mars or messages from outer space relayed through ‘contactees.’ We don’t build up a story for greater reader interest. We believe  the truth is exciting enough in itself and needs no embellishment.’

Though most of ‘Skylook’s’ material reports UFO sightings, it does include other articles, such as [‘Astronomy Notes’] which informs the reader of where to look each month for planets and stars.

To avoid confusion

‘Learning to recognize these planets and stars prevents confusing them with UFO’s,’ Mrs. Short said.

The magazine even has a column which previews books and other magazines that contain UFO-related material. There also is a regular article titled ‘UFO’s Bahind the Iron Curtain.’ The writer gets his information by corresponding with people in communist countries.

‘Skylook’ was conceived in 1967 when Mrs. Short received a letter from John Kuhn, a student at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Kuhn asked Mrs. Short if she would consider editing a newsletter on UFO’s. Mrs. Short, who had several years of newspaper experience and was herself a UFO buff, accepted the proposal with delight.

Through the efforts Mrs. Short and Kuhn, ‘Skylook’ was born and served as a newsletter for a UFO study group in St. Louis. Mrs. Short assimilated the information and Kuhn, the ‘publisher,’ mimeographed 30 to 40 copies of the magazine.

The first few issues of ‘Skylook’ endured a period of severe labor pains and its growth was marked with subsequent, sporadic ‘now-and-then’ issues.

In 1969, college responsibilities forced Kuhn to resign as publisher. But Mrs. Short was too involved to give up the cause or the publication. She promptly bought her own mimeograph machine (which she soon dubbed ‘the Monster’) and undertook the task of printing the publication herself.

First issue difficult

‘I cried over that first issue. I didn’t know how to operate the mimeograph machine or apply the ink,’ Mrs. Short said.

It was a product of ‘blood, sweat and tears,’ she added.

While Mrs. Short carried on her duties as editor and publisher of ‘Skylook,’ that St. Louis UFO study group expanded and organized the Midwest UFO Network (MUFON).

Ted Phillips, 1104A West Third, an inspector for the State Highway Department, is also a field investigator for MUFON. He says the purpose of MUFON is ‘to inform the public of UFO sightings, encourage reporting of UFO’s and conduct scientific studies of the phenomenon.’

Phillips became involved with ‘Skylook’ when it began publication in 1967. He was one of the first UFO enthusiasts to contribute to the magazine.

In 1969, MUFON’s officers named ‘Skyllok’ as their official publication. From then on, Mrs. Short published regularly and has not missed an issue.

Since its establishment as a statewide organization in 1969, MUFON has mushroomed into an international group. So, at the MUFON Symposium in Kansas City this past June, the name was changed to Mutual UFO Network.

MUFON also has enlarged its staff to include several reputable scientists such as Dr. David Saunders, a nuclear physicist at the University of Colorado; and Dr. Allen Hynek, director of the Lindheimer Astronomical Research Center, Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.

Magazine grows, too

As MUFON has grown in the past four years, so has ‘Skylook.’ Its circulation climbed from 30 to 70 copies a month. Mrs. Short abandoned her mimeograph machine a year ago in favour of offset printing by Morgan County Printers. Readership has expanded from a small group of UFO students to MUFON members (covering 29 states and parts of Canada, Europe and Australia) and other UFO enthusiasts not associated with MUFON.

‘I really get much more material each month than I could possibly use and I don’t even push it here in Stover. You might say that I’ve grown because MUFON has grown.

‘The first few years, I was ‘in the hole’ and had to pay the balance out of my pocket money. But for the past year and a half, ‘Skylook’ has been paying for itself.’

Though Mrs. Short is interested in UFO’s, she is not the type to tramp through woods and cornfields in search of physical traces. For the past year, ‘Skylook’ has been flying high with success and Mrs. Short is content with her role as editor and publisher.

‘This is something I have built up and I enjoy doing. It gives me a chance to write,’ Mrs. Short said. ‘I guess I’m a newswoman at heart. I worked on the Salem Post when I was younger and at that time I would have rather been a reporter than President.’

As editor, Mrs. Short has faith in what she publishes. She does believe there is more to our universe than Earth, and that it is possible for extraterrestrial life to land here.

‘Most of the things people think are UFO’s are really just stars, planets, plane lights or fireflies. But there are too many other ‘sightings’ that are unexplained.

‘We’re going to the [Moon] and will soon land on Mars. So, if there is other intelligent life in the universe, why shouldn’t they come and look at us?’ she said.”

My comment:
The late Mrs. Norma E. Short is without a doubt one of the unsung heroes within the UFO field.

UFO News Article:
“ ‘We Are Visited From Outer Space,’
Speaker On Flying Saucers Says”

12 November 1957
(Fitchburg Sentinel, Massachusetts)

Source: NewspaperArchive.com

The whole article:
“The government’s policy in saying that flying saucers and other unidentified flying objects do not exist is ‘not wise,’ Rev. Albert H. Baller of Greenfield, noted authority and lecturer, told members of the Fitchburg Lions Club last night.

Speaking at the weekly meeting af the Lions Club at the King’s Corner Restaurant at which members of the Athol Lions Club were guests, Rev. Mr. Baller told his audience that public interest in the unidentified flying objects has increased since the launching of the Sputnik I and II by the Russians.

‘I have noted a radical change in the reaction of people listening to my talk on flying saucers since the launching of the satellites,’ he stated.

His belief

Rev. Mr. Baller told his listeners, ‘if the government knows what I think it knows about flying saucers—that we are being visited from outer space—I think it should inform the public.’

He stated that evidence has shown that the flying saucers and other unidentified objects sighted throughout the world in the past decade are ‘not secret weapons of the United States or any other nation’ but what he termed ‘interlopers from outer space.’

In spite of its efforts to minimize reports of flying saucers, Rev. Mr. Baller stated, the [Air Force] has said that only two per cent of the reports are hoaxes and some mirages.

‘Seen Several Times’

‘Hallucinations have been ruled out as an explanation for reported sightings of the flying saucers,’ he said, ‘because the objects have been seen several times by more than one person.’

In response to a question from the audience concerning the lack of printed reports of what trained astronomers have thought about flying saucers, Rev. Mr. Baller answered that Dr. Lincoln [LaPaz], the discoverer of the planet Pluto, ‘for one, takes it extremely serious.’

‘Several astronomers have seen these things,’ he added.

Rev. Mr. Baller told his audience that he ‘has spoken to several influential men in the Pentagon’ and especially in the [Air Force] about the phenomena of flying saucers and stated that they are ‘very much concerned.’

‘In playing down reports of sightings of unidentified flying objects, the [Air Force] is saying that its own men can’t be trusted in these things,’ he said.

Warns of Crackpots

‘The field of unidentified flying objects is a vital and serious field of research,’ Rev. Mr. Baller stated. ‘However, it is wide open for every crackpot in the world.’

Rev. Mr. Baller’s talk was highlighted by the showing of more than 50 colored slides on the phenomena of flying saucers including many sketches of the different sizes and shapes of saucers reported seen throughout the world.

Also included were tape-recorded interviews with three of Rev. Mr. Baller’s neighbors in Greenfield who have sighted the objects over Massachusetts skies.

Saw 3 Objects

The speaker told how he became interested in the field of investigating flying saucers and other unidentified flying objects after sighting three spherical objects in the sky on Feb. 20, 1952.

‘I had been reading some books and other material on the mysterious flying objects with some scepticism, but sighting them myself gave me a tremendous push toward the investigation which I am now carrying out,’ he stated.

Rev. Mr. Baller is a member of the board of governors of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena with headquarters at Washington, D. C., and also is a member of the Flying Saucer Research Society of London, the Australian Flying Saucer Research Society in addition to several other civilian organizations studying the phenomena of aerial objects.

A graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University and the Boston University School of Theology, he is rector of the Robbins Memorial Church in Greenfield.

Arthur J. Lanides and Norman H. Crawford were co-chairmen of the Lions Club program committee.”

NOTE: The planet, Pluto, was discovered by U.S. astronomer Clyde William Tombaugh in 1930, not by Dr. Lincoln LaPaz.
