Mrs. Gilbert Phillis, 35, said she saw the
unidentified flying object at 9:45 p.m. Monday (15 October 1973) when she drove
downtown.
Her son Gilbert Jr., 17, saw the same, or a similar,
craft about the same time as he was closing his father’s service station at the
east edge of town.
Mrs. Phillis said the object was hovering at ‘treetop level’ east of Prospect Street
It looked like a ‘car parked in the sky’ with its
headlights turned on, she said.
She stopped har auto in the middle of the deserted
street, shut off the engine and rolled down the window. ‘I didn’t hear any
sound,’ she said. ‘It was stationary.’ ”
