3 March 1992
(Times-News, Hendersonville,
North Carolina)
Quote from the article:
“At least three people – including a National Weather
Service meteorologist – reported seeing unusual lights and objects flying or
hovering in Spartanburg
skies last week (late February/
early March 1992).
Each of the people who told about the sightings
stopped short of saying they witnessed unidentified flying objects, or UFOs,
but could not explain the phenomena.”
Meteorologist Corey Lefkof saw an orange and red light
(no flashing, just a glow) travelling west to east near the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport
at around 10:30 p.m.
Lydia Kaplan, a Herald-Journal secretary, saw a disk
above the tree line in the western sky at around 4:30 a.m.
Ann Sellers, a Spartanburg
bookkeeper, and her husband were driving on Interstate 26 near Landrum when she
saw a pulsing, bright, white light which moved erratically in the eastern sky.
