UFO News Article:
“UFO Reports Aren’t Shrugged Off”

6 May 1966
(Meriden Journal, Meriden – Southington, Connecticut)

The article focuses mainly on the UFO inquiries of the U.S. Air Force:

Quote from the article:
“Last year, 886 UFO sightings were turned in, and the Air Force attempted to track down every one of them. Sixteen of the sightings were never explained.

Air Force Secretary Harold Brown, a nuclear physicist, has said that he will urge a number of universities to form scientific teams to probe in depth 100 selected sightings reported this year.

The Air Force states that, after 19 years of collecting data, it has no proof that U.S. security has been threatened by ‘flying saucers’ or any other unidentified form of flying body. There is no evidence to support the belief voiced by many that mysterious devices from outer space exist.

The astronomers admit, however, that they rarely attempt to scan the Earth’s atmosphere.

There is one exception, the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory in Cambridge, Mass. Its observers state that its lower-tracking telescopes pick up hundreds of unidentified objects which they have no time to check out.”
