“Police Officers Report UFO Sighting
Between Cape, Jackson Early Sunday”,
31 August 1967
(The Southeast Missourian, Cape Girardeau, Missouri)
The article informs about two 27
August 1967 South East Missouri UFO incidents.
Quote from the article:
“He (Jackson patrolman John Clifton), along with several others, saw a strange object early Sunday morning.
Not only that, but he and others chased it. All the way to Cape Girardeau.
Three times.
The initial sighting took place at the intersection of Highways 61, 72 and 34 in Jackson.
Things get slow about 5 in the morning, and the patrolman and three others – Chief of Police Ben Schweer, Don Risenbichler and Mike Platt – decided they’d catch the object.
On the way to Cape Girardeau, the light seemed to stay on the north side of Highway 61, he noted. On the way back it stayed on the south side.
At one point in the chase he radioed ahead to Cape Girardeau, where Sgt. Robert Ross reported seeing the same light from the northern city limits.
That proves, the officer said, that the UFO was some place between the pursuing car and Cape Girardeau.”
Four civilians, Mr. and Mrs, Lloyd Winters and Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Gunn, sighted a large UFO near Miner, Missouri at dusk.
Quote from the article:
“Mr Winters said the object was light blue in color; he estimated it to be 25 to 30 feet high and 15 to 20 feet wide.
The object descended too fast to be a plane, he added, and it disappeared behind the Sikeston ridge in the direction of Morehouse, ¼ to ½ -mile north of I-57.”
