UFO Article (Blog):
“ ‘OPREP-3’ – A Classified US Military
Reporting Channel For UFO Incidents? – Part 4”

By Paul Dean, 5 October 2016
(UFOs – Documenting The Evidence, Melbourne, Australia)

Quote from the article:
“Recently, in Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of this series, I have highlighted the use of the US military’s OPREP–3 system to report apparent UFO events near military installations during the 1970’s. As stated in a Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) Instruction, titled ‘Joint Reporting Structure Event and Incident Reports,’ it is established that:

‘The OPREP–3 reporting system… …is used by military units at any level of command to report significant events and incidents to the highest levels of command.’

These are the only two pages of Section 15, ‘Identification Of Air Traffic,’ that mention unknown tracks, unidentified flying objects, UFOs, or OPREP–3 reporting. In fact, Robert Todd was only offered a three pages from the entire ‘NORAD/ADCOM Manual 55–19, Vol. VII, Aerospace Reporting System’ publication.”

UFO Article:
“The UFOs and Nukes Film is Gaia TV’s
‘Most Popular in Seeking Truth’ Video”

By Robert L. Hastings, 29 September 2016
(The UFO Chronicles, 30 September 2016)

Quote from the article:
“My recently-released documentary film, UFOs and Nukes: The Secret Link Revealed, was licensed by Gaia TV in late July and is now available to the network’s Video On Demand subscribers. As of this date, it is the highest rated video in Gaia’s ‘Seeking Truth’ category.

One viewer commented, ‘Wow!! Great job by Robert Hastings in this documentary. Thanks for introducing new facts and different angles on some well known and not so well known cases. Tons of indisputable evidence in this one.’

The film presents declassified U.S. government documents and on-camera military witness testimony confirming longstanding and ongoing UFO incursions at American nuclear weapons sites. Since 1973, I have interviewed more than 150 U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy veterans regarding their involvement in still-classified incidents at ICBM deployment sites, weapons storage areas and test ranges.”

UFO News Article:
“ ‘Light in Sky’ Chases Car,
Besieges Home of Farmer”

6 August 1963
(Chicago Tribune, Illinois)

Source: Chicago Tribune Archives

The whole article:
“A Wayne county family cowered in their darkened house early today [6 August 1963while a bright light hovered over their farm for several hours until it disappeared shortly before dawn.

A member of the family, Ronnie Austin, 18, became hysterical after he and his date were chased 10 miles by the bright moving object as they returned from a drive-in movie last night. Ronnie and Phyllis Bruce, a neighbor, rushed into the Austin household screaming.

The father, Orville Austin, stepped into the yard with a shotgun, then ran back into the house, turned off the lights, and called for protection against a mysterious aerial marauder.

Harry Lee, Wayne county deputy sheriff, said the light was apparently high in the sky and was bigger and brighter than any star. He described it as moving but not twinkling and said he kept it under observation for several hours.

Lee said he went to the farm home, 15 miles west of Fairfield, in answer to a call from Austin for help against the eerie object.

Ronnie said the light appeared above and behind him shortly after he and his date had started a 10-mile drive home. Ronnie described the light as big as an automobile and said when it swooped near him it caused his car motor to crackle.

Ronnie said he raced his car but couldn’t outdistance the light. It followed him home and kept its strange vigil over the farm house. Ronnie, after he became hysterical, was given a sedative by a physician.

Three other members of the Austin family and Mis Bruce supported the story, Lee said.

The deputy said police in Mount Vernon, 15 miles west of the Austin home, reported seeing a strange light in the sky and that Kenneth Talbot, police radio operator, said it appeared to have the shape of a cross.”

UFO News Article:
“ ‘Strange Lights’ Baffling
to Couple at Outdoor Movie”

23 July 1952
(Spokane Daily Chronicle, Washington)

The whole article:
“Were there ‘flying saucers’ in the western sky here last night between 9 and 11 p.m.?

Stanley D. Taylor, clerk of the federal court here, and Mrs. Taylor saw about 40 ‘strange lights’ here last night (22 July 1952), Taylor said today.

‘We were at a drive-in movie north of town,’ he said. ‘We saw the lights above the screen. They were definitely not spotlights, nor airplanes nor stars.

‘They were about the size of medium-sized stars, and they traveled across the sky in different patterns and at a terrific rate of speed—I judged about 1500 miles an hour.

‘One of them shot across the sky, stopped and shot right back again over the same course.

‘Another one shot up in the sky to a point and then dropped back, forming a triangle’

The security office at Fairchild air force base said no other reports of ‘flying saucers’ had been made here for more than a week.

Officers at the base said they did not know what the lights seen by Taylor were.”

UFO News Article:
“Flying Saucer Seen Over A-Bomb Camp”

3 August 1952
(The Sunday Star-News, Wilmington, North Carolina)

The whole article:
“Another flying saucer story: the Air Force said today an ‘unidentified object’ has been reported flying over Los Alamos, N.M., site of major atomic energy installations.

An Air Force spokesman said the sightings were reported last Tuesday (29 July 1952), about noon.

Observers on the ground reported watching, through binoculars, something shiny and apparently metallic in the sky for 30 minutes. They said the object was travelling at high but erractic speed.

Three jet fighters were asked to investigate. While the planes were in the air, the same object or a similar one was observed from the ground for about two minutes, but was not seen by the fighter pilots.

A ground observer said the object made a 360-degree turn to get in the rear of the fighters.

The information was released here in response to queries after Kirtland Air Force Base, near Los Alamos, declined to give out a statement.”

UFO News Article:
“Looks Like Flying Saucers On Radar,
Air Force Has Fingers Crossed”

29 July 1952
(St. Petersburg Times, Florida)

Quote from the article:
“While the politicians have been watching the none-too-mysterious conventions, some othe people, including the Air Force, have been watching a mysterious rash of flying saucers.

Furthermore, the Air Force, long skeptical about flying saucers, has now made some official and important admissions.

ADMISSION NO. 1 is that they have now detected something that looks like flying saucers on radar at the same time that people have claimed they saw flying saucers. In other words flying saucers are not just cloud freaks or hallucinations. If so they could not be detected on a radar screen.

ADMISSION NO. 1 is that flying saucers could possibly be space ships from another planet. The reason for this admission is that it will soon be possible for us to build a space ship to visit the moon if we are willing to spend money for research and construction.

Therefore if we are this close to interplanetary travel, Air Force officers admit that a more advanced civilization could be keeping this planet under surveillance through flying saucers.

ADMISSION NO. 3 — It has not been announced, but scientific observation posts have been set up in New Mexico, where we are testing guided missiles, to track flying saucers also. A number of flying saucers have been seen in the Southwest, and since trained specialists are already on the job in that area with the latest scientific gadgets, the Air Force has ordered them to watch for flying saucers and track them scientifically.

In addition, the Air Force has instructed its 24-hour air observers to watch not only for enemy planes but flying saucers. Furthermore, it has set up special cameras on its radar screens to keep a pictorial record of flying saucers or any other strange object flitting across the screens.

Finally, Wright Field, at Dayton, O., the center of all Air Force research, has been instructed to chart all flying saucer patterns, find out whether their light behavior is similar, and what characteristics they seem to have in common.

This was started only two months ago and no similar patterns have yet been reported, except for the peculiar fact that more flying saucers have been observed around U.S. atomic centers and around Wright Field than anyplace else. This could be because observers from another planet were interested in our atomic and air development, though the Air Force thinks it’s more likely to be because the population around these bases is more sensitive to something strange in the skies.

However, while Air Force officials are taking every precaution to solve the mystery they also warn that the first flying saucer was seen by the Prophet Ezekiel who reported seeing a flying wheel in the Heavens.”

UFO Article (Blog):
“Significant Discovery Of US Military
Records Highlighting ‘UFO Problem’
During The Vietnam War – Part 2”

By Paul Dean, 21 September 2016
(UFOs – Documenting The Evidence, Melbourne, Australia)

Quote from the article:
“Recently, in Part 1 of this series, I discussed the discovery of US military records which comment liberally on ‘unidentified flying objects,’ usually shortened to just ‘UFOs,’ during the Vietnam War. These records, discovered by myself and Boston based research Barry Greenwood, were originally created by all four branches of the US armed forces. The sorts of records we have found include ‘Histories’ and ‘Chronologies,’ ‘Mission Reports,’ ‘Patrol Logs,’ ‘Daily Staff Journals,’ and so-called ‘Lessons Learned’ publications. Also represented in these finds are ‘Project CHECO’ publications, specific to the United States Air Force (USAF). Most of these records have come from either the Defence Technical Information Center (DTIC) or National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). This came on top of other ongoing work which dealt specifically with unresolved questions around the USAF’s accidental strike on Australia’s warship, the HMAS Hobart. Part 1 and Part 2 of that work is complete, and there will be a third installment at some point in the future.

One of the issues I have raised is a question of terminology. It should easy to write off the term ‘UFO’ as some sort of lazy ‘catchall’ for unknown, unidentifiable aircraft. Helicopters, especially seen at a distance, or only briefly plotted on primary radar, would have fallen into the the ‘UFO’ category. However, the problem is rather more complex than that. Time and time again in official military documents we have seen the term ‘UFO’ being alongside, or distinct from, ‘unidentified aircraft,’ ‘unknown helicopters,’ and the like. This is both inconsistent and unexpected in such a wide range of military records. Still, is it possible that these references to, and reports of, ‘UFOs’ or ‘unidentified flying objects’ in Vietnam were merely bumbling enemy helicopters and tricks of light in the jungle? Unfortunately, simple explanations fail to solve the issue to my satisfaction.

Though not found by either Barry Greenwood or myself, it is worth taking a look at a 17th of April, 1967 UFO report made by US Army Specialist (SP4) Robert M. Harkinson who was assigned to Headquarters, 524th Military Intelligence Detachment, Saigon.”

UFO News Article:
“UFOs ‘Return’ On Schedule”

17 February 1967
(Deseret News, Salt Lake City, Utah)

The whole article:
“Residents of southeastern Michigan are watching the sky again.
A rash of unidentified flyining objects was reported in the area Thursday night (16 February 1967).

Reports began during the evening and continued through most of the night.

The sightings were in the area where a deluge of UFO sightings were reported last spring. Those UFOs were labeled swamp gas by Dr. J. Allen Hynek who conducted an Air Force investigation in nearby Dexter and Hillsdale.

Several persons Thursday said they saw an object early in the evening near downtown Ann Arbor. It had two flashing white lights and a red light in the center, they said. The reports all placed the sightings at about the same time.

Other sightings were reported over Ypsilanti later in the evening but the descriptions didn’t match those in Ann Arbor. Several students at Eastern Michigan University said they saw an object with a steady, white light that eventually faded out.”

“UFO Sighting Reported at Durham;
Track Beep Sound”

18 April 1966
(The Lewiston Daily Sun, Lewiston-Auburn, Maine)

The whole article:
“A Durham man reported the sighting of an unidentified flying object Sunday night (17 April 1966), and two Androscoggin County deputy sheriffs said later that in investigating the report they heard strange unidentifiable ‘beeping’ sounds which moved as they approached.

John Winn of the Shiloh Road, Durham, told Deputies Bertrand Boucher of Lewiston and D. Edward Soucie of Durham that he spotted the object at tree top level and that it displayed flashing blue and green lights.

The sighting was made at about 8 p.m. and Winn told the officrs the low flying object was traveling on a southerly course.

According to Deputy Boucher, the beeping sound came from a wooded area at the rear of Winn’s residence, but as the two deputies and Winn approached, the sound stopped and started again, but from a different direction.

Winn told the officers he made the sighting after hearing the ‘beep’ while inside his house. He went out to investigate the noise and that was when he spotted the UFO with the green and blue lights.”
