3. On 11 April 2007 the complainant made the following request:

‘My request, (therefore), is for copies of MoD papers, records 
or other information relating to any or all internal discussions, 
policy and/or briefings in response to 1) public statement made 
to the media and 2) via the release of Open Skies Closed Minds 
by Mr Nicholas Pope during the period 1995-96. I wish you to 
include specific public interest material within the coverage 
of this request as follows:

a) Any internal discussions relating to Mr. Pope's public statements in the Mail on Sunday 2 July 1995, The Independent 3 June 1996 and other press articles during 1995/1996. 

b) Any specific discussions relating to Mr Pope’s published
statements that contradicted the department’s officially stated
policy on the subject of UFO’s and their supposed defence threat.

c) Any papers, generated by MOD or its PCB branch, that relate to
Mr Pope’s public allegation that ‘there was a faction [in the MOD]
that certainly didn’t want the book to appear.’ Specifically I
request a copy of ‘the short letter’ referred to in Mr Pope’s
interview with IUR which allegedly said his manuscript was
‘completely unacceptable to MoD and quite beyond any suitable
Amendment’ and any related discussion which resolved this
issue. As Mr Pope has spoken of this matter openly and in public
it cannot be seriously argued that this material falls within the

“Alarm bells after UFO appears over Jamnagar refinery”,

The article reports on two UFO incidents that occurred over the oil refinery in Jamnagar, North-Western India in January 2013:


A bright, unknown object (with the perceived size of a volleyball) was sighted over the oil refinery on 24 January 2013, at around 8:30 p.m. It hovered over the refinery for a while. The object then circled the facility four times before disappearing.

On the morning of 27 January 2013 (between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m.), the same phenomenon was witnessed. On this occasion, process cameras installed in the refinery took some photos of the UFO.

Reliance Industries Limited reported the UFO sightings to the Indian government, according to The Indian Express.

19 August 1971 (Kingsport Post, Tennessee)

The Kingsport Post informs about UFO incidents that have occurred in Tennessee throughout the years:


On 11 July 1950, the pilots R. E. Moore and J. W. Martin (flying slow training airplanes), from the Millington Naval Air Station near Memphis, sighted a UFO with a dome on top. Electronics Technician G. D. Wehner (on board Moore’s airplane) caught the UFO on the radar scope.

Several Shenandoah Heights residents sighted a disk shaped UFO with a dome on top on 10 October 1967, at around 10:15 p.m., according to the article.

Australian UFO TV News Reports:
The Knowles Family UFO Encounter

The UFO incident occurred between Madura and Mundrabilla 
(the Nullarbor Plain, Western Australia) on 20 January 1988, 
at 5:30 a.m. (according to The Age and 7 News).


The UFO was also sighted by other persons who were driving on the highway.

The crews on board two fishing trawlers off the Nullarbor Plain sighted the same or a similar UFO, according to the second TV report.

Madura is situated 114 kilometres (71 miles) west of Mundrabilla.
