A Bolivian Air Force fighter pilot chased a large UFO over La Paz, Bolivia, according to Mexican UFO researcher Alfonso Salazar.

The UFO was initially reported by the captain of a TACA Airlines (El Salvador), who sighted the UFO over El Alto International Airport. The TACA Airlines audio report is included in this TV report:

Peruvian fighter pilot Lieutenant Oscar Alfonso Santa Maria Huertas (now Air Force Commander) had a dog-fight with a UFO over La Joya/Mariano Melgar Air Base, Arequipa, Peru, on 11 April 1980. Huertas fired on – and hit the UFO – but the bullets had no effect on the unknown object. Huertas flew a Sukhoi Su-22 fighter-bomber airplane:

Dr. David Baker says the following at 2:51 minutes into the video:
“The possibility that you might encounter aliens in space has to be considered in a very sensible, positive and realistic way. There were a lot of people within the program (Apollo) who went off later and became convinced that UFOs existed. And that led to some concern on NASA's part where they got the agreement of the crew (all crews) never to publicly talk about these things for fear of ridicule.”
