“January 30, 1984 –  At 9:00 p.m. nine oil platform workers in a swampy area 50 miles west of Miami in Dade County, Florida watched a 200 foot in diameter domed disc-shaped object with a huge red glow and a silver dome, engage in a high speed vertical descent and then hover for 10 seconds. It then changed color from orange to a metallic chrome color, then back to orange. It also had dozens of flashing lights. It instantaneously moved away to the east. “Large white light traversing tundra that approached myself and friend.

While working as a truck driver on the Trans Alaskan Pipeline construction north of the Prospect Creek construction camp my assistant and I were on break reading by the interior light of our truck. We were about one half mile from a group of about forty workers putting support members in the ground for the pipeline. My partner pointed out a bright light on a mountain directly across from us about 40 miles away. As we watched the light it appeared to ‘step’ down in four moves to the bottom of the mountain. It then came towards us accross the treeless tundra (light got larger than the moon which was visible), stopped, and went back to just a bit to the right of the original mountain site. The light did this three more times (about three seconds each trip) as if searching the tundra. As the light came closer the last time, I turned on the spotlight and directed it towards the light. It approached us coming to about a quarter mile away and slowly came closer. The light was then about three times the size of the moon. As it was getting closer we got scared, shut off the spotlight and sped off down the haul road. We could see the light at its present size accompanying us on our left side the two miles to the construction camp. We slid in to the warm-up shack and ran inside where there were about ten men on break. We all went outside to see what it was but it was gone. The next morning at breakfast it was found that many people had seen this ‘light’ and truckers coming up the haul road could see a large red light on the back of the craft. No description of the body of this craft was given because of the darkness. I was transferred to another camp a couple of days later but was told that many people were interviewed by Air Force representatives from Eilson (Eielson) AFB in Fairbanks. I have always wondered if this event was recorded anywhere as it made a firm believer out of me.”

UFO Case Report: “April 13, 2013 – Near Picayune, Mississippi – 3:25 PM CDT”

“Radar Analysis – Aircraft – UFO Sighting Near Picayune, MS – April 13, 2013

Background: On April 13, 2013 a pilot had just taken off from Slidell, LA Airport with his Cessna 172. He was flying at 2,500 feet and as he approached the Picayune, MS VOR he saw a disk shaped craft to his right for a few seconds. The object drifted off to the south after a few seconds. He was flying north and the sighting occurred at about 3:30 PM CDT.

Analysis: I read the article written by Richard Hoffman in the MUFON Journal and case description in MUFON’s Case Management System (CMS). Given my interest in radar and pilot UFO sightings I immediately requested radar data from Hill AFB (Air Force Base) near Ogden, UT. The radar data is archived by the Air Force and stored for long periods.  The Air Force shares several long range radar units with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) for the JSS (Joint Surveillance System). I received the data in the first week of August and began work immediately.

Results: Seven radar units were included in the data provided by the Air Force.

Radar tracked an object (UFO) at about ‘one minute and as much as two minute’ intervals near Picayune, MS from 3:17 PM to 3:26 PM.”
