UFO Study Directory:
“The Fournet Motion Study Directory”

Created: October 2006
Updated: 20 August 2016
(NICAP.org)

The whole article:
Fran Ridge:
In October of 2006 Jan Aldrich brought up the ‘Ten Lost Documents’. Item #1 was the Fournet Motion Study. Brad Sparks had already found the CIA documents that were the key to the puzzle and had identified two of the motion study cases right off. This, then, is the directory for the famous ‘motion study’ by Maj. Dewey Fournet. This study is significant and it is similar to the earlier 1948 ‘Estimate of the Situation’ and illustrates once again the reason why the Extraterrestrial Hypothesis was seriously considered. And as always, the study was not stopped as it went up, but was rejected at the top. As we identify the cases used in the MS we will provide links to them at the bottom of this directory. But first, the history of the Motion Study begins with Captain Edward J. Ruppelt, at that time the head of the Air Force Project Blue Book. (See link below) By March 23, 2009 I had begun work on the UFO Intelligence Summary for the Motion Study cases, the current copy is the end result of that search. This is an on-going project to identify and document all 17 cases listed.

This following formations chart is a new CIA release in 2001 of a better copy of the same chart released by CIA in poor shape in 1978.

Mike Swords:
22 Oct 2006
I came across page 5 and there was part of Dewey Fournet’s famous but not seen ‘motions study’ of UFOs as presented to the Robertson Panel. According to what one can reasonably assume by looking at the page, Dewey presented 17 cases [from which he deduced that UFOs were guided by intelligence and the flight characteristics indicated that the intelligence was beyond ‘us’.] This number rings true as Ed Ruppelt says that Dewey sifted his cases down to between ten and twenty. The page shows arrangements of UFOs in the chosen cases, and given the strong likelihood that most if not all of them were 1952 cases on Dewey’s watch, they might be specifically identifiable. #6 is, for instance, almost certainly, Nash-Fortenberry. Ruppelt gives two of the cases in his book, and a third in the draft copy pre-cutting. These probably could be matched up, too. Has this document already been seen for what it is?, and has someone already identified the 17 cases? .

Jan Aldrich:
Someone should try to identify the cases from the illustrations [which is what we did above - Fran Ridge]. I would expect that one should try to fit modern ones first. Fournet had something is his briefcast call Operation Interloper. Whatever it was it represented cases that he encountered on his own and were not AF cases or were published in other sources like the African Airlines case at Mt Kilaminjaro (sp?). The case count for Operation Interloper was over 20, but Fournet’s briefcase only contain a few of them. Some of the Interloper cases were pre 1947. Fournet told Keyhoe that he should request a complete list of 1952 unknown cases from the AF, he would find best evidence there.”

NASA TV UFOs:
4 UFOs Filmed During the NASA STS-115 Mission

(National Aeronautics and Space Administration,
Washington, D.C.)

Source: tarfin (YouTube channel)

The video clearly shows that NASA filmed four unknown objects (not three, as mentioned by the astronaut).

During NASA’s STS-115 press conference, STS-115 Entry Flight Director Steve Stich says the following: “And, as you well know, we saw an object yesterday.” No, NASA – it was four unknown objects!

The footage was recorded on 20 September 2006, at approximately 4:25 a.m. PDT, according to the video source.

The NASA STS-115 Space Shuttle mission:

Launch date: 9 September 2006 –
Landing date: 21 September 2006.

I also reported about this video on 3 February 2009.

UFO Case Report (E-mail):
“Subject: MacMillan Pass,
NWT/Yukon Border, Canada, Mid July 1988”

By Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Specialist, 4 April 2006
(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
Animal Reaction Feature:
Three men were transporting horses in a high-sided, open topped truck to the MacMillan Pass summit. Arriving in the afternoon at the unloading site, one of the men took his camera and walked 600 feet or so away to take a photograph of mountains to the south. As he looked through the viewfinder he heard an extremely loud fluttering sound approaching from behind and above.

After getting a photograph of the object, the witness ran toward the truck. The horses, not yet unloaded, were panicked. They were trying to jump out of the truck, and the two ‘outfitters’ were desperately trying to calm them and to keep them from injuring themselves. Eventually the horses did calm. The outfitters did not see the unknown object, but commented that they had never before seen the horses react in this way.

The Sighting:
When the witness heard the loud sound approaching behind and above him (putting the unknown about 600-700 feet from the horses), he kept one eye on the viewfinder and caught a glimpse of the object passing above him out of the corner of his other eye. Then, almost instantly, he caught the object in the viewfinder as it rapidly flew over the valley in front of him. It appeared to slow, and he snapped a picture.  The object wavered and turned to the right and accelerated. It became silent as it changed direction. It disappeared into the distance flying up the valley.

Martin Jasek analyzed the photograph, which shows an object with a domed top and a rectangular-looking bottom.* Jasek’s calculated angular size of the object in the photograph is 0.28° (0.55 moon diameter).

Duration of the sighting was in seconds.  The unknown’s altitude when over the witness’s head was estimated as 1500-1800 feet. The peak visually nearest the unknown object (in the photograph) is about 4000 m (13,000 feet) away (email, Jasek to Woodward, March 22, 2006 and April 20, 2006).

No EM or physiological effects were reported.

As anyone knows, you don’t need to have done a lot of research on NASA to know that NASA has catalogued every object they have lost during space missions. The Russians and Chinese have done the same.

So in this video we, once again, hear NASA officials talk about “objects”:

UFO Case Directory (RADCAT):
“Eight Radar Tracks by GCA Team
March 13, 1952
Keflavik, Iceland”

(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report:
Dan Wilson:
March 13, 1952; Keflavik, Iceland
7:12 a.m. Eight separate unidentified radar sightings were made by a [U.S. Air Force] GCA team while working a C-47 aircraft on practice runs at Keflavik, Iceland. The first of the eight objects appeared at 0712Z (7:12 a.m. local time). The last object was observed at 8:09 a.m. The estimated airspeed of the objects was 250 knots and at estimated altitude of above 8000 feet. One report stated that one object crossed the scope at a speed much faster than an F-86.”

NICAP.org presents two U.S. government (Project Blue Book,
U.S. Air Force) documents that pertain to the UFO case.

Wikipedia article: “Naval Air Station Keflavik”:

Quote from the Wikipedia article:
Naval Air Station Keflavik (NASKEF) was a U.S. Navy station at Keflavík International Airport, Iceland, located on the Reykjanes peninsula on the south-west portion of the island. NASKEF was closed on 8 September 2006, and its facilities were taken over by the Icelandic Defence Agency as their primary base until 1 January 2011, when the Agency was abolished and the base handed over to the Icelandic Coast Guard, which has since then operated the base.[1]

The base was built during World War II by the United States Army as part of its mission to maintain the defense of Iceland and secure northern Atlantic air routes. It served to ferry personnel, equipment, and supplies to Europe. Intended as a temporary wartime base under an agreement with Iceland and the British, US forces withdrew by 1947 but returned in 1951 as the Iceland Defense Force resident on a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) base. The base was regularly visited by the American military and other NATO allies for military exercises, NATO Air Policing, and other tasks. In 2017, the United States announced its intention to modify the largest hangar on the Icelandic base in order to house the new Boeing P-8 Poseidon ASW aircraft being introduced.[2]

History

United States Air Force use

On 25 May 1951 the U.S. Air Force reestablished a presence at Keflavik Airport with the establishment of the 1400th Air Base Group. Jurisdiction of the airport was assumed by Military Air Transport Service (MATS). MATS re-established a military air terminal and refueling point for trans-Atlantic air service between the United States and Europe at Keflavik. MATS (later MAC and Air Mobility Command) units remained at the airport until the withdrawal of United States military units from Iceland in 2006.”
