UFO Article (Blog):
“The Case of the Missing Telegram”

By Chris A. Rutkowski, 30 November 2021

(Ufology Research, Winnipeg, Canada)

Quote from the article:

“One official document.

That’s all I was looking for. Probably just one page, if that.

In my research into official documents regarding the subject of UFOs, I came across two particular mentions of them by the Prime Minister of Canada [Lester B. Pearson] in 1966.

That in itself was fairly significant, as any head of state publicly raising the subject of UFOs was (and is) quite unusual to say the least. Of more significance is that these circumstances were not in response to questions from the media during a press conference, or in the context of banter on a network TV show.

These were during relatively staid and controlled government discussions among debates about issues such as diplomatic missions, farm policy and military concerns.”

“On This Day [UFOINFO.com UFO case report]:

September 21

1966 - Eight members of the Royal Canadian Air Force saw a bright object that flew down at high speed in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It stopped abruptly, remained at ground level for 20 minutes, then flew away straight up. There was radar-visual confirmation of the UFO over a missile site. NORAD was alerted and jet interceptors were scrambled. “Air Force Jet Climbs To Identify Object
July 21, 1954
Boise, Idaho”

(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case reports:
“Dan Wilson:
July 21, 1954: Boise, Idaho
A USAF jet interceptor climbed to 20,000 feet to try and identify an unidentified flying object high above. The CAA said the jet was unable to get close enough to see the object clearly. The object appeared to be drifting slowly against prevailing winds at that altitude. (Reference: Daily Herald, Utah County, Utah, July 22, 1954, Page 2)”

Quote from the Wikipedia article:
“Mountain Home Air Force Base (IATA: MUO, ICAO: KMUO, FAA LID: MUO) is a United States Air Force installation in the western United States. Located in southwestern Idaho in Elmore County, the base is twelve miles (20 km) southwest of Mountain Home, which is forty miles (65 km) southeast of Boise via Interstate 84. The base is also used by the Republic of Singapore Air Force, which has a detachment of F-15SG fighters on long term assignment to the base. They undergo training in combat tactics by U.S. airmen.

The host unit at Mountain Home since 1972 has been the 366th Fighter Wing (366 FW) of the Air Combat Command (ACC), nicknamed the ‘Gunfighters.’ The base’s primary mission is to provide combat airpower and combat support capabilities to respond to and sustain worldwide contingency operations.

Constructed in the early 1940s during World War II as a training base for bombers, after the war it briefly had transports, then was a bomber and missile base. It became a fighter base 54 years ago in 1966.”

“Lt. Comdr. Smidt-Jensen, second in command of the Danish destroyer Willemoes, said today [15 September 1952] he observed a mysterious glowing object moving across the sky at great speed north of the island of [Bornholm] last night, heading southeast.

He described it as a bluish glowing triangle and estimated its speed at 1,500 kilometer (932 miles) an hour. The [Willemoes] is one of the vessels participating in the big NATO maneuver called Mainbrace.”

UFO News Article:
“Triangular UFO reported seen at Georgia airport”

28 March 1966
(Redlands Daily Facts, California)

Source: NewspaperArchive.com

The whole article:
“An airport control tower operator reported seeing a glowing, oblong object manuvering high in the sky Sunday [27 March 1966]. He said it was tracked on radar.

Six Columbus policemen, and a control tower operator at Ft. Benning, Ga., also said they saw the strange object.

Doyle Palmer, an air traffic control operator at Muscogee County Airport, said he first spotted the greenish white, cigar shaped object at about 5:30 a.m., and that it was tracked on radar at Atlanta for over an hour. He estimated its height at about 5,000 feet.

Palmer said he had first thought the object was a star, ‘but you don’t pick up stars on radar.’ He said he could still see it clearly after the sun came up—when stars normally disappear—but by that time it had shrunk to the size of a pin head and was moving southeast.

Columbus police detective G.H. Ferguson said he spotted the object after hearing radio reports about it. He described the glowing thing as wedge-shaped and said he saw it rising in the air. He reported it was much brighter and moved faster than a star. Ferguson said he observed the object until after 7 a.m.

Don Haddock of radio station WDAK also said he watched a triangle-shaped glowing object in the same area until 7 a.m.

All reports concurred on the location of the object southeast of Columbus over an Army restricted area.

Air Force officials have said the UFO reports in Michigan were caused by marsh gas phenomena. Palmer reported he did not know of any swamps or marshes in the area of Columbus where the strange glowing object was seen.”

My comment:
This radar (the object was tracked for over an hour)/visual UFO case is very interesting, to say the least.

The oblong, triangular (wedge) shaped object which manoeuvred over a U.S. military (Army) restricted area south west of Columbus, Georgia, was sighted by Doyle Palmer, an air traffic controller at Mucogee County Airport, a Fort Benning control tower operator, six police officers and Don Haddock of radio station WDAK.

I also reported about this United Press International (UPI) article on 25 July 2012.

UFO News Article:
“Air Command Admits It
Is Involved In Flying Discs”

2 August 1952
(The Sheboygan Press, Wisconsin)

Source: NICAP.org

The whole article:
“The nerve center of the nation’s air defense admits today to being involved in the flying saucer situation.

Headquarters of the Air Force Air Defense Command [Air Defense Command, later Aerospace Defense Command] located at Ent Air Force Base here, reported that has been a flurry of reports of saucers and other unidentified objects for the past two weeks.

And so seriously are the reports viewed that fast interceptor planes are kept on the ready to jet aloft to find out what goes on — if possible.

‘We’ve really been scrambling,’ a spokesman said. ‘These planes are kept loaded and ready to go and their pilots are never more than a few feet away. They're in the air within seconds of a report that seems definite enough.’

The thing is not geared up just for saucers though. The system is the same as that worked out to meet any enemy attack.

Furthermore, the ADC isn’t saying what might have been found. The results of the scrambles aren’t for it to announce. Findings are turned over to technical experts at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, O.

The ADC, which commands and coordinates the three regional Air defense commands in New York, Missouri and California, did say that its radar equipment has been picking up a lot of unexplained blips.”

My comment:
Ent Air Force Base later became the location of the United States Olympic Training Center.
