UFO Public TV Discussion Programme:
“Theater for Ideas - Roach family UFO Sighting”

By Terry Doran (producer, host), 1976
(Unknown U.S. TV channel)

Source: Internet Archive (archive.org), San Francisco, California

Three members of the Roach family recount a UFO sighting that occurred in Arcola, Indiana (located just to the west of Fort Wayne), in June or July 1965, at around 9:00 p.m.

The discussion about when the UFO incident occurred can be found at 10:30.

The cylindrical shaped, extremely large UFO (larger than an airliner) had windows that were illuminated from the inside, a very bright white headlight on the bottom and bright red and green lights on top. All the lights were steady. The unknown object manoeuvred in the same general area for a long time.

The family and at least one of their neighbours called the authorities (the airport and sheriff) to find out if there was aircraft activity in the area at the time. There was no aircraft activity in the area during the time the UFO was sighted, according to the authorities.

NOTE: At least one of the other “Theater for Ideas” TV discussion programmes was aired on WANE-TV (Fort Wayne, Indiana), according to archive.org.

UFO News Article:
“No Enemy Contact, but UFO? Maybe…”

27 June 2010
(The Desert Sun, Palm Springs, California)

Source: ufocasebook.com

In this news article, Major Bob Schneck, U.S. Army Air Corps (Ret.), recounts a UFO sighting over Newfoundland, Canada, in July 1955.

Then First Lieutenant Schneck was flying one of the two KC-97 tankers that had just finished refuelling B-47 bombers bound for England, when he sighted the UFO.

Quote from the article:
“It looked like ‘A big white spot that’s way off in the distance,’ he said, describing the UFO. ‘It moved very fast, back and forth. It’s something you’ve never seen before it would zoom across the horizon.’

The speed of the UFO was estimated to be 1,500 mph.”

I also reported about this article on 27 June 2010.

UFO Report:
“1900-1938 UFO Sighting Chronology”

Created: 18 December 2006
Updated: 6 April 2016
(NICAP.org)

Quote from the UFO report:
“This report is derived from three major sources: 1) the Magonia Database, sightings catalogued by Jacques Vallee and presented in his great work, Passport to Magonia, and,  2) The UFO Evidence, 1964, Richard Hall, and, 3) Strange Company (2007), Keith Chester. This report deals only with sightings AFTER the turn of the 20th Century and up to the end of 1938. For the WWII years (1939-1946) click here. The illustration used above came from Jim Klotz’ wonderful web site, ufopop.org/. All of the beautiful magazine covers that can be found on the site were produced during this period, and are a must-see.

Our thanks for ALL these chronologies must go to our documentation team: Richard Hall (The UFO Evidence, 1963, and Vol. II The UFO Evidence, 2001), William Wise (Project Blue Book Archive), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), and Brad Sparks (Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns). Last, but not least, our thanks to Jean Waskiewicz who created the online NICAP DBase (NSID) that helped make it possible to link from the cases to the reports themselves. .

Early 20th Century Sightings up to, and including, the year 1938

May 13, 1909; King’s Lynn, England
9:45 PM. A cigar-shaped object illuminated the terrain brightly in King’s Lynn. A witness’s attention was drawn to the object by a ‘whirring noise’ and seeing the ground lit up like day. Looking up, he saw the airship-like object speed overhead, two men visible in an undercarriage, and disappear in the distance within a few minutes. (Hall, 2000, p. 7)

May 19, 1909; Wroxsam (Wroxham) [my addition], Norfolk, England
23:30. A lone motorcyclist observed a globular light traveling in a straight trajectory overhead. During its passage, the motocycle headlamp failed to operate. He stopped his machine when this occurred, but the headlamp began to operate again after the UFO’s passage. (Rodeghier; East Anglican  Daily Times, May 21, 1909)

May 18, 1909; Caerphilly, Wales
11:00 p.m. Mr. Lethbridge was walking along a road near the mountains when he saw on the grass a large tube-like machine. Aboard were two men wearing furs and talking excitedly in a language the witness could not understand. The grass was found depressed at the site after the object had flown off. (Magonia #36, 198; Anatomy 21)

June 16, 1909; Donghoi (Dong Hoi) [my addition], Annam
4:10 a.m. An elongated object following a west to east trajectory flew over the town. It gave off a strong light and was seen by two fishermen to plunge into the sea 6 km away from the coast, after a steady flight of about 9 min. (Magonia #37, Anatomy 21)

Dec. 22, 1909; Worcester, Mass
‘Mysterious Airship’ emitting a bright beam of light appeared moving SE to NW, hovered over city, moved away. Seen again two hours later; hovered, moved away to south and turned east. Observed over Boston and Lynn, Mass, next night. [N.Y. Tribune, 12-23-09; N.Y. Sun, 12-24-09]”

UFO Case Report:
“06-16-1909”

By Carl W. Feindt
(Water UFO, Claymont, Delaware)

The whole UFO case report:
“M. Beljonne, at Phu-Lien Observatory, Tonkin, sends us peculiar bolide observations. The first one, especially remarkable, was made at Dong Hoi, Annam, by M. Delingette, Inspector in the Civil Guard, head of the meteorological station. At Dong Hoi, on June 16 at 4:10 A.M., a bolide of an elongated shape, truncated at both ends, flew over the city on a west-east course, casting a great luminosity. The witnesses--Hoang Nic, of Dong Hoi; Tran Ninh, of Sa-Dong-Danh; Quyen, of Dong-Duong-Hoi; and Danh Lui, of the same village--who were fishing at sea, reported that the phenomenon lasted from eight to ten minutes, between the time the object appeared and the time it fell into the sea, at about six kilometers from shore.

UFO Case Report:
“06-10-1909”

By Carl W. Feindt
(Water UFO, Claymont, Delaware)

The whole UFO case report:
“That, in the Nautical Meteorological Annual, published by the Danish Meteorological Institute, appears a report upon a ‘singular phenomenon’ that was seen by Capt. Gabe, of the Danish East Asiatic Co.’s steamship Bintang. At 3 A.M., June l0, 1909, while sailing through the Straits of Malacca, Captain Gabe saw a vast revolving wheel of light, flat upon the water—‘long arms issuing from a center around which the whole system appeared to rotate.’ So vast was the appearance that only half of it could be seen at a time, the center lying near the horizon. This display lasted about fifteen minutes. Heretofore we have not been clear upon the important point that forward motions of these wheels do not synchronize with a vessel’s motions, and freaks of disregard, or, rather, commonplaces of disregard, might attempt to assimilate with lights of a vessel. This time we are told that the vast wheel moved forward, decreasing in brilliancy, and also in speed of rotation, disappearing when the center was right ahead of the vessel-or my own interpretation would be that the source of light was submerging deeper and deeper and slowing down because meeting more and more resistance.

Carl William Feindt, who passed on 21 April 2019, was in my opinion one of the best USO/UFO researchers of all time. Many thanks to the late Mr. Feindt for his hard work and devotion to USO/UFO research – and for the fact that he has published all his research work on the Internet.

UFO Article (Blog):
“Another Part of the Levelland Investigation”

By Kevin D. Randle, 15 August 2019
(A Different Perspective, Cedar Rapids, Iowa)

Quote from the article:
“I have been reviewing the Levelland landing with its electromagnetic effects. I have said that an Air Force NCO conducted a one-day investigation and that was it. I have reported that the Air Force made a number of points about the case including that while Donald Keyhoe of NICAP claimed nine witnesses, there were only three. Interestingly, the claim of three witnesses is contradicted in the Blue Book file that contains interviews with a half dozen witnesses and information about others. In fact, in an undated and unsigned summary of the case, the Blue Book file says, ‘A mysterious object, whose shape was described variously as ranging from round to oval, and predominantly bluish-white in color was observed by six persons [emphasis added] near the town of Levelland, Texas.’

In all, I have found witnesses, on the record in 1957, at thirteen separate locations with multiple witnesses at several of those. And I haven’t even counted the law enforcement officers who had sightings. This, as noted in an earlier post, included the sheriff and the fire marshal.”

UFO News Article:
“Unusual Object in Sky”

28 January 1954
(Quorn Mercury, Australia)

Source: Trove, National Library of Australia, Canberra, ACT, Australia

The whole article:
“Three well known residents this week reported having sighted what they described as an ‘unusual object’ in the north-eastern sky at approx 9.30 p.m. last Sunday (24 January 1954).

The object was said to be shaped like a diamond and gave off a powerful light resembling that of a search light. The queer light was reported to have darted around the sky for several minutes before it eventually faded away.

The three men, who prefer to remain anonymous, are most emphatic that the object they sighted was not a star or other normal heavenly body. The incident co-incides with previous reports of unexplained objects sighted in the far northern sky during the past few years.

A full report of the incident, together with the men’s names and addresses will be forwarded to the newly formed Flying Saucer Investigation committee in Adelaide.

The men who witnessed the unusual event have expressed the opinion that the object sighted could not have been an aircraft, owing to the terrific speed at which it travelled.”

“Capt. Egenas (Egenæs?), comamnding [sic] the St. Olaf, reports that he was surprised by an airship in the middle of the night, on the North sea. The airship passed right over his steamer, and at the most opportune moment the deck was strongly illuminated by a searchlight. The airship left in a southerly direction. Capt. Egenas could see that the airship threw a searchlight on the deck of another steamer, too.”

“The 1991 UFO Chronology”

Created: 15 October 2008
Updated: 26 October 2016
(NICAP.org)

Quote from the UFO report:
“This is currently an 8-page chronology of UFO incidents and events for 1991. Our thanks for these chronologies must go to Richard Hall (the original 1991 chronology from UFOE II), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), and Jean Waskiewicz (online NICAP DBase [NSID]. You will note the many foreign reports that we are now being able to access. Our special thanks to Dan Wilson for getting those to us. As more come in, this page will be updated. Previous chronologies (1947 to 1969) involved the expertise of two other team members; Rebecca Wise (Project Blue Book Archive) and Brad Sparks (Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns). Bob Gribble’s entries are those filed with the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle, Washington, now operated by Peter Davenport. Trace cases are now being entered with the help of Ted Phillips, Center for Physical Trace Research and retrofitted into previous chronologies as time permits. Since I was Indiana State Director (MUFON) at that time, many of our Indiana cases are listed here.
