“SPINNING IN SKY –
Merseyside Men Saw Strange Object”
26 August 1955
(Liverpool Echo , UK )
Source: ufonewspaper.blogspot.com
The whole article:
“A flying object spun through the air
along the Mersey last night [25
August 1955], according to two people in different parts
of the city. It was huge and cylindrical, strangely phosphorescent, and hovered
for fully five minutes over the Pierhead.
Peter Wilson, 17-years-old builder, of 200
Queen’s Drive, Liverpool 14, was walking with
his girl friend near the Clubmoor Cinema when he saw the saucer. ‘I was scared
stiff,’ he told the Echo. ‘My girl friend was so startled she ran home.’
He thought the object was about 15 yards in diameter and
was spinning 700 feet
above the ground. ‘It seemed to be looking at something,’ he commented. At
10.45 p.m. it raced away in the direction of the Pierhead.

“Brad Sparks:
Aug. 21, 1955; Kelly, 7
miles N of Hopkinsville, Kentucky (BBU)
7, 8-11 p.m., 2:30-4:45 a.m. At about 7 p.m. Billy Ray Taylor went into
the backyard of the Sutton farmhouse and saw a bright object from the SW [or
actually about SSW about 210° azimuth from the direction of Fort Campbell U.S.
Army base] then pass over and descend into a gully about 500 [300-600?] ft N of
the farmhouse and about 35-40
ft lower elevation. Mrs. Glennie Lankford and 6 other
adults [most Sutton family], plus 3 children (Charlton, Lonnie and Mary
Lankford), saw two or more 3 ft
tall gremlin-like creatures float down from trees and approach the house from
the dark, which were shot at by rifle and shotgun fire without effect. At about
11 p.m. the entire group fled in terror in their two cars and drove at high
speed into Hopkinsville to report the incident to the Police Dept. State police
officer leaving the Shady Oaks restaurant 3 miles N of Hopkinsville
in a car to respond to the call heard several meteor-like objects streaking
over him sounding like artillery shells, and was able to see 2 in a series looking like
meteors from the SW [or actually about S, from about 190° azimuth, headed
towards Kelly from the direction of Fort Campbell and the TOP SECRET Armed
Forces Special Weapons Project Site C, Clarksville Base, 36.665° N, 87.487° W,
National Stockpile Site for nuclear weapons storage apparently recently including
multi-megaton yield H bombs]. City, county, state and military police and
reporters drove out to the Sutton farm to investigate from around 11:30 p.m. to
2 a .m. UFO
entities returned at about 2:30 a.m. and were again shot at without effect,
finally disappearing at about 4:45 a.m. (Davis-Bloecher 1978; Hynek UFO Rpt pp.

“RAF Mosquito Pursues Radar Target (BBU)
January 16, 1947
North Sea, 50 miles from Holland”
30 June 2009
(NICAP.org)
The whole UFO case report:
“Fran Ridge:
10:30 p.m. (GMT). RAF pilot of Mosquito pursued unidentified radar
target showing efficient controlled evasive action at 22,000 ft speed equal or
greater than Mosquito, headed W? towards Norfolk ,
Eng. (FOIA) This was five
months before the Kenneth Arnold sighting and the beginning of the Wave of
1947, followed by the crash at Roswell
in early July. The incident was also linked to another ‘X raid’ tracked by
radar earlier that same day. An FBI document from July of 1947 quoted the Air
Ministry case summary stating that: ‘no explanation has been forthcoming, nor
has it been repeated.’ This information was not entirely accurate, because a
very similar incident had occurred just 24 hours after the North
Sea incident. As a direct result, Fighter Command immediately
extended its night radar watch.
Dan Wilson:
At 11:30 at night in the North Sea an RAF Mosquito pilot picked up a
strange object on radar 50
miles north of the coast of Holland . The UFO seemed to be taking evasive
maneuvers when approached by the fighter aircraft. The UFO was pursued for 30
minutes until over the Norfolk , England coast,
at which point the object darted away. (Source: APRO Bulletin, December 1977,
p. 7). See report from Project Blue Book files below.
Jan Aldrich:
The U.S.
got a full report on this which (Captain Edward) Ruppelt saw and summarized.
The summary was in Hynek’s files now at CUFOS, Operation Charlie, which Martin
Shough and Dave Clarke dug out of the UK archives. This impressive case
involves more than one incident, and the British archives is missing some
information. Apparently the Americans got a report on the incident including
information that is now missing from the UK archives.”

Wendy Connors and Mike Hall for allowing us to post their great book, ‘Alfred
Loedding and the Great Flying Saucer Wave of 1947’ . No 1947 work would be
complete without the aid of Jan Aldrich of Project 1947. I want to thank all
the members of the A-Team who made this possible. To view the 1947 sightings

books below. Finally, I want thank Loren Gross for thoughtfully and diligently
collecting data many years ago for his UFO Histories and supplemental notes, in
particular here the year 1947. And a big thanks to CUFOS and Mary Castnor for
housing them on the CUFOS site.

UFO Article (Blog) (Redux):
“The Air Force Investigates The Flying Disks”
By Dr. Michael D. Swords, 1 September 2009
(The Big Study)
Michael D. Swords informs about the first
inquiries (in 1947) the U.S.
Air Force made into UFOs.
Quote from the article:
“In late June of 1947, the flying disks had begun to appear all over the
United States .
This was the Air Force’s area of concern, and, after convincing themselves that
this was not citizen craziness, they got on the job. The document on the upper
right is an example of how quickly this happened and at what level of
authority. It’s a note from General Nathan Twining [Commander of
Wright-Patterson AFB, and the AF’s high technology research group] to Brigadier
General Samuel Brentnall who was chief of the Engineering Technology division
there. Twining and Brentnall have been discussing Flying Disk reports [there is
a newspaper story on them clipped to this note] already by the beginning of
July. So, the AF’s technology wizards are quite interested in what this mystery
device is, which has now been reported by many of their own
flyers.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The major information point for flying disk reports was in the Pentagon
at the Air Force’s Intelligence Division. There they had a Collections branch
commanded by Colonel Robert Taylor III. His right-hand man was Lt. Colonel
George Garrett. Garrett got the job of collecting and correlating all the
flying disk information. He had an FBI contact named S.L. Reynolds. The reason
for the contact was that the intelligence community initially suspected that
some of these reports were made by Soviet sympathizers in order to scare the
public. They quickly found out otherwise [Soviet sympathizers weren't flying at
30,000 feet
in metal disks to scare people in New
Mexico ], and Garrett and Reynolds settled down to try
to figure out what WAS going on.”
Swords also presents U.S.
government (U.S. Air Force and Federal Bureau of Investigation) documents that
pertain to the UFO investigations.
I first reported about this article on 22 August 2013.

The whole UFO case report:
“Animal Reaction Feature:
At 8:30 pm, Thunder, a 175-pound Great Dane, ‘went crazy’ and barked for
3 minutes. His owner, Cindy Tillison, went to see what was going on. Thunder
was standing at the sliding doors in the kitchen barking toward the woods. When
Tillison looked, she saw a huge V-shaped object. The object remained for 20
minutes and, throughout this time, Thunder appeared frightened and barked
continuously with ears straight up. The next day he refused to go out.
Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Feature:
The V-shaped object was glowing a very bright auburn color and had
lights similar to headlights but much larger. When Tillison flicked her
floodlights on and off, the object appeared to move in response, after which
she left the lights off. During the 20 minutes of observation, the object
projected a big, steady beam of light, seemingly from its center. The beam was
very wide, estimated a little less than half the size of the object. The big
round lights did change, going off [and on?—jw] and changing colors. The object
disappeared when the witness was not looking.
No sound was mentioned. No EM effects or physiological effects were
reported.

The whole UFO case report:
“Animal Reaction Feature:
When a group of V-shaped lights approached and passed almost directly
overhead, a family’s pet cat, appearing frightened with its hair standing on
end and its tail straight up, ran into the house.
Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Specialist:
At 8:45 pm, A Yorktown man with an aerospace background saw a
V-formation of lights that circled his home twice. He estimated its altitude at
1500 feet
and he heard a very quiet sound coming from it.
Jerry Karp, advertising executive, who lived a half mile away from the
above location, noticed bright lights through his window. He went outdoors and saw a V-shaped series of
lights approaching and called his family to come out and look at them. When the lights were at their closest point
to them (almost overhead), the cat reacted as described above. At this point the object turned 90 degrees
and moved away. When overhead, they
heard an engine-like sound that was not loud but clearly audible.
