By Billy Cox, 22 October 2013
(De Void, Sarasota
Herald-Tribune, Florida)
Billy Cox reports about the Peruvian
government’s UFO research department, Departamento de Investigación de
Fenómenos Aéreos Anómalos (Department of Investigation of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena) (DIFAA):
The article mentions Peru’s
most famous UFO incident. The Peruvian fighter pilot Lieutenant (later Air Force Commander) Oscar Alfonso Santa Maria
Huertas had a dog-fight with a UFO over La Joya/Mariano
Melgar Air Base, Arequipa, Peru, on 11 April 1980. Huertas
fired on – and hit the UFO – but the bullets had no effect on the unknown
object. Hue rtas flew a Sukhoi Su-22
fighter-bomber airplane.
