UFO Article (Blog):
“Significant Discovery Of US Military
Records Highlighting ‘UFO Problem’
During The Vietnam War – Part 2”
By Paul Dean, 21 September 2016
(UFOs – Documenting The Evidence, Melbourne, Australia)
Quote from the article:
“Recently, in Part 1 of this series, I discussed the
discovery of US military records which comment liberally on ‘unidentified
flying objects,’ usually shortened to just ‘UFOs,’ during the Vietnam War.
These records, discovered by myself and Boston based research Barry Greenwood,
were originally created by all four branches of the US armed forces. The sorts
of records we have found include ‘Histories’ and ‘Chronologies,’ ‘Mission
Reports,’ ‘Patrol Logs,’ ‘Daily Staff Journals,’ and so-called ‘Lessons Learned’
publications. Also represented in these finds are ‘Project CHECO’ publications,
specific to the United States Air Force (USAF). Most of these records have come
from either the Defence Technical Information Center (DTIC) or National
Archives and Records Administration (NARA). This came on top of other ongoing
work which dealt specifically with unresolved questions around the USAF’s
accidental strike on Australia’s warship, the HMAS Hobart. Part 1 and Part 2 of
that work is complete, and there will be a third installment at some point in
the future.
One of the issues I have raised is a question of
terminology. It should easy to write off the term ‘UFO’ as some sort of lazy ‘catchall’
for unknown, unidentifiable aircraft. Helicopters, especially seen at a distance,
or only briefly plotted on primary radar, would have fallen into the the ‘UFO’
category. However, the problem is rather more complex than that. Time and time
again in official military documents we have seen the term ‘UFO’ being
alongside, or distinct from, ‘unidentified aircraft,’ ‘unknown helicopters,’
and the like. This is both inconsistent and unexpected in such a wide range of
military records. Still, is it possible that these references to, and reports
of, ‘UFOs’ or ‘unidentified flying objects’ in Vietnam were merely bumbling
enemy helicopters and tricks of light in the jungle? Unfortunately, simple
explanations fail to solve the issue to my satisfaction.
Though not found by either Barry Greenwood or myself,
it is worth taking a look at a 17th of April, 1967 UFO report made by US Army
Specialist (SP4) Robert M. Harkinson who was assigned to Headquarters, 524th
Military Intelligence Detachment, Saigon.”

A rash of unidentified flyining objects was reported in the area Thursday night (16 February 1967).
Reports began during the evening and continued through
most of the night.
The sightings were in the area where a deluge of UFO
sightings were reported last spring. Those UFOs were labeled swamp gas by Dr.
J. Allen Hynek who conducted an Air Force investigation in nearby Dexter and
Hillsdale.
Several persons Thursday said they saw an object early
in the evening near downtown Ann Arbor. It had two flashing white lights and a
red light in the center, they said. The reports all placed the sightings at
about the same time.
Other sightings were reported over Ypsilanti later in
the evening but the descriptions didn’t match those in Ann Arbor. Several
students at Eastern Michigan University said they saw an object with a steady,
white light that eventually faded out.”

According to Deputy Boucher, the beeping sound came
from a wooded area at the rear of Winn’s residence, but as the two deputies and
Winn approached, the sound stopped and started again, but from a different
direction.
Winn told the officers he made the sighting after
hearing the ‘beep’ while inside his house. He went out to investigate the noise
and that was when he spotted the UFO with the green and blue lights.”

UFO News Article:
“UFO flew beside bus, says driver”
20 October 1988
(The Canberra Times, ACT, Australia)
Source: Trove, National Library of
Australia, Canberra, ACT, Australia
The whole article:
“An upset bus driver has told police of being ‘buzzed’
by a UFO in outback Western Australia.
Pioneer Express driver Mr. Peter Chapman said he and
seven passengers saw a bright light flying alongside their bus on the Eyre
Highway near Mundrabilla, about 100km from the South Australian border.
The sighting was close to where a Perth family claimed
their car was picked up by a spaceship, carried down the road and dumped
earlier this year.
Sergeant George Johansen, of Eucla police, said his
friend Mr. Chapman was at first reluctant to report the sighting, early on
Monday morning (17 October 1988).
‘He was a bit upset about it — it was pretty hair-raising
for him,’ Sergeant Johansen said. ‘He also thought people would say he was a
bit of a nut.’
But Sergeant Johansen said he took seriously Mr.
Chapman’s report of a bright light, with another one revolving around it, which
he had said appeared over an escarpment.
‘If he reported it, it would not be a hoax. He is not
one of those people who makes things up.
‘Seven other people saw it.’
Mr. Chapman, of Ceduna, said the light had come up
behind the bus, then flown beside it about 50 metres away and about
100m off the ground.
‘He said a couple of beams of light came out and lit
the side of the bus before it disappeared,’ Sergeant Johansen said. ‘It made
the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.’ ”

“ ‘UFOs and Nukes’ Documentary
Critiqued By Skeptic Tim Hebert:
Now the Filmmaker Responds”
By Robert L. Hastings, 16 September 2016
(The UFO Chronicles, 19 September 2016)
Quote from the article:
“A few days ago, I wrote an article in which I
expressed surprise that none of my critics had publicly commented on my
documentary film, UFOs and Nukes: The Secret Link Revealed, which has been
available at Vimeo On Demand since April.
A search of the Internet reveals the extent to which
some debunkers have attacked me over the years, following the 2008 publication
of my book UFOs and Nukes, in which I present dozens of incidents involving UFO
activity at American nuclear weapons sites, as reported in declassified files
and military witness testimony. Consequently, I was expecting more of the same
once the film was released.
Shortly after my article appeared online, one of those
skeptics, Tim Hebert, wrote a critique which, not surprisingly, contains a
number of factual errors, convenient omissions and other misrepresentations.”

NICAP.org UFO case report:
“REPORT ON THE UFO WAVE OF 1947”
By Ted Bloecher
“Case 528 -- July 6 (1947), near Palmdale,
California: Mrs. Amy Herdliska, housewife living at Four Points in the Palmdale
area, reported that she had seen a group of objects twice during the late
evening behaving in a most peculiar manner. She reported to Sgt. W. K.
Campbell, of the Lancaster County sheriff’s substation that at 10:36 p.m., ‘over
the mountains south of Palmdale, I saw what looked like a mama disc, with three
to five little baby discs flying around her.
‘The little
ones would cavort around for awhile, then they'd fly back and seem to fly into
the mama disc’s pouch. Anyway, the mama disc absorbed the baby discs,’ she
explained. Mrs. Herdliska said that the objects ‘were luminescent and clearly
visible,’ and before they had disappeared to the south over the mountains, they
were seen ‘separating’ again. She reported that a second flight of the same
puzzling objects was made again at 11:17 p.m. (Case 530).
Sgt. Campbell and other deputies made a routine check
and said they saw ‘fleets of mackerel-like clouds 15,000 to 20,000 feet in the air.’
They did not see any of the discs reported by Mrs. Herdliska, and they wrote
off the report by explaining that she may have seen ‘reflections of Hollywood
arc lights’ on the clouds.
The Los Angeles Herald-Express and the Examiner (both
on 7/8) briefly refer to a sighting in North Hollywood at approximately the
same time – between ten and eleven p.m. Mrs. William A. Becker, of 6240 Sunset
Avenue, reported that she had watched ‘six or eight’ discs for an hour from her
home. ‘They were darting back and forth, crisscrossing the sky very high,’ she
said. ‘They looked all of ten or twelve feet in width – I finally got tired of
looking at them and went to bed.’ There is no indication that Mrs. Becker had
seen the same kind of phenomenon as Mrs. Herdliska reported, but if Mrs.
Herdliska's ‘mama disc and baby discs’ disappeared to the south in the interval
between her two sightings, North Hollywood is where they would be seen.”
