“NEW DEBUNKING CAMPAIGN BACKFIRES”

U.F.O. Investigator, Vol. 1, No. 11, December-January 1960-1961

(National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, Washington, D.C.)

Quote from the article:
“The nationwide Air Force debunking campaign, launched in December to avoid Congressional hearings on UFOs, now has backfired severely on AF Headquarters and its official UFO spokesman, Lt. Col. Lawrence J. Tacker.

Col. Tacker’s chief aim, as he unguardedly admitted in a national broadcast on Dec. 5, is to discredit NICAP and its director. This officially-approved attack proves that NICAP is recognized as the biggest threat to UFO secrecy, because of the documented evidence confidentially given to Congress.”

“ ‘Come clean on UFO cover-up’ ”

21 September 2017
(The Herald Sun, Melbourne, Australia)

Source: theufochronicles.com, 23 September 2017

Text by The UFO Chronicles:
“An American documentary maker has urged Australian authorities to lift the lid on one of the nation’s most baffling UFO reports.

James Fox said the sighting at a Melbourne school in 1966 remained one of the most riveting examples of UFO encounters anywhere in the world.

More than 200 people, mostly schoochildren, reported seeing an object hover over the school in an incident that many believe became the subject of an elaborate cover-up in 1966.”

“The United States Air Force was reported by Life Magazine Thursday to be taking a new, serious interest in ‘flying saucers.’

‘The Air Force is now ready to concede that many saucer and fireball sightings still defy explanation,’ Life said in an 11-page articles entitled, ‘Have We Visitors From Space?’

IT SAID the Air Force now maintains constant intelligence investigation of unidentified aerial objects and ‘military aircraft are alerted to attempt interception.’ ”

“Flying Discs No Joke Now In Air Force”

16 April 1952
(Ottawa Journal, Canada)

Source: theufochronicles.com, 25 April 2015

Quote from the article:
“The Air Force, which once laughed off flying saucer reports as products of over-ripe imaginations, today ordered its intelligence experts to study the cases of several discs reported over North Bay in the past four months.

Four airmen stationed at the North Bay base told their superiors they saw flying discs float silently over the local air station and an RCAF statement said there was no reason to doubt the statements.

All of the men were described as veterans with several years experience identifying conventional aircraft.”

UFO News Article:
“Deputies Spot Flying Saucer Over County”

4 January 1952
(Register-Pajaronian, Watsonville, California)

Source: theufochronicles.com, 19 February 2016

Quote from the article:
“Flying saucers are with us again.

Watsonville police, Monterey county sheriff’s deputies and witnesses from here to Greenfield sighted a weird cigar-shaped object rushing through the sky about 5 a.m. Friday, throwing sparks as it made a leisurely 10 mile circle of the area.

First report of the saucer came at 5:10 a.m. when deputy sheriff’s in two cars sighted it over the city of Monterey.

Deputies Al Bolman and Jim Mattney were patrolling in one car and reported it first. A few minutes later Lieut. Thomas Martin and deputy Ed Atkinson, also in the area spotted it.

Watsonville police George Brautovich and Jesse Ojeda told officers who relieved them they saw ‘something like a ball of fire’ and watched it fade away.

‘At first we thought it was an airplane on fire,’ the deputies reported. ‘But it was throwing sparks and flame from both ends, cruising along apparently under control at about 1,000 feet.’ They estimated its speed at more than 700 miles per hour.

The craft swung in a wide arc over Monterey Bay and then headed for Fort Ord.

Military police were alerted at the fort, but personnel were unable to pick the saucer up on radar, they reported.

After leaving the Fort Ord area the saucer was seen cruising along the west side of the Gabilan range of mountains. At 5:24 a.m. Greenfield police reported that officers and citizens in that area had spotted the flying machine.

It was last seen shortly thereafter dropping below Johnson’s canyon east of Gonzales.

At the naval air station at Monterey, Lt. Comdr. Paul McGinnis said a telephone call from the Register-Pajaronian was ‘the first I’ve heard of the aircraft.’

Comdr. McGinnis said that ‘considering the large number of military airfields in the area it is very possible that a large jet plane was in the area.’

The defense command would not say whether any unscheduled aircraft were authorized to fly over the Monterey-Fort Ord area at that hour.”

UFO Report:
“The 1952 Sighting Wave: Radar-Visual Sightings
Establish UFOs As A Serious Mystery”

Created: 15 December 2005
Updated: 4 February 2017
(NICAP.org)

Quote from the web page:
Fran Ridge:
This is a very comprehensive and qualitative effort. Without the help of Rebecca Wise (Project Blue Book Archive), Dan Wilson, Brad Sparks, Jean Waskiewicz, Bill Schroeder and others, this could not have been done. (Items on the Chop clearance list are coded ‘CCL’). But none of this would be complete without the story behind the wave of 1952, as told by none other than Richard Hall.

On March 2, 1950, a Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) meeting focused on establishing goals for a minimum air defense by 1952. The following month at a USAF Commanders Conference at Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico,  planners familiarized commanders with the thinking behind the plan of minimum defense as well as with its contents. Referred to as the Blue Book Plan, it stipulated that a minimum air defense could be in place by mid-1952. It was estimated that July 1, 1952, as the critical date when the Soviets would pose a dangerous threat. General Charles Cabell expected the Soviets to have between 45 and 90 atom bombs and 70 to 135 Tu-4 bombers (copied B-29s) by that time. Was there a nuclear connection between this threat and the massive UFO sighting wave of 1952 and the events over Washington in July?

Richard Hall:
The summer 1952 UFO sighting wave was one of the largest of all time, and arguably the most significant of all time in terms of the credible reports and hardcore scientific data obtained. Electromagnetic (EM) effects and physical trace evidence were  more prominent in other waves, but 1952 (and 1953) featured recurring radar detection of UFOs, often from both ground and airborne radar, visual sightings by jet interceptor pilots sent up to pursue the mysterious objects, and cat-and-mouse chases in which the UFOs seemed to toy with the interceptors. Further, Air Force investigators who plotted the sightings noticed that they were concentrated around strategic military bases, and this clearly posed a threat to national security since their origin was unknown. Senior generals in the Air Force concluded that UFOs  were interplanetary in origin, and broadly hinted this belief in LIFE magazine for April 1952.”

UFO Article (Blog):
“Item 2.102: FOIA Request to the
U. S. National Reconnaissance Office”

23 March 2011
(Larry W. Bryant’s UFOview, Newport News, Virginia)

Wikipedia article: “National Reconnaissance Office”:

Quote from the Wikipedia article:
“The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) is a member of the United States Intelligence Community and an agency of the United States Department of Defense. NRO is considered, along with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), to be one of the ‘big five’ U.S. intelligence agencies.[2] The NRO is headquartered in unincorporated Fairfax County, Virginia,[3] 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Washington Dulles International Airport.

It designs, builds, and operates the reconnaissance satellites of the United States government, and provides satellite intelligence to several government agencies, particularly signals intelligence (SIGINT) to the NSA, imagery intelligence (IMINT) to the NGA, and measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT) to the DIA.[4]

The Director of the NRO reports to both the Director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of Defense[5] and serves as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Intelligence Space Technology). The NRO’s federal workforce consists primarily of Air Force, CIA, NGA, NSA, and Navy personnel.[6] A 1996 bipartisan commission report described the NRO as having by far the largest budget of any intelligence agency, and ‘virtually no federal workforce,’ accomplishing most of its work through ‘tens of thousands’ of defense contractor personnel.[7]”
