An aerial dogfight between fighter pilot Lieutenant George F. Gorman, a North Dakota Air National Guard pilot, and a UFO took place in the skies over Fargo, North Dakota, on 1 October 1948. Gorman flew a P-51 Mustang fighter airplane.
