“Firey [sic] color.
Flash shape.
Balloon launch was as
2100 and 0300. Only balloon in area could be possible Stray. Sun would be low
at this time and could possibly cause flash of light.
Ground radar pick-up at
1805 PST. F-94 scrambled at 1833. Twice F-94 saw flash and unsuccessfully tried
for radar plot showed object drifting with wind.
No ground radar pick-up
after 1613 (my correction: 1813) PST.”
Project Blue Book listed the case as “Unknown.”
NOTE: NICAP.org gives the date of the UFO incident as
22 March 1952.

6:05 p.m.local time. USAF pilot and radar operator of
F-94 jet interceptor made 2 sightings of a stationary red fireball that
increased in brightness then faded over 45 secs. Note: Project Blue Book Status
Report #7 (May 31, 1952) says target was also tracked by ground radar at 78
knots (90 mph )
at 22,500 ft
and 25,000 ft
