“Fantástico” TV Report

TV Globo reports about a UFO incident that was registered on CINDACTA radar.

Wikipedia article: “CINDACTA”:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CINDACTA

Quote from the Wikipedia article:
“The air traffic control centers of Brazil are known by the acronym CINDACTA, or Centro Integrado de Defesa Aérea e Controle de Tráfego Aéreo (Integrated Air Traffic Control and Air Defense Center). Four CINDACTAs are in operation, located in four different cities and each responsible for different regions of Brazil’s airspace.

The use of military air traffic controllers for civilian traffic is not unusual, but has been deprecated in most developed countries. In the US, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) operates a wholly parallel system with that of the US Air Force and NORAD. This is also the case of Eurocontrol and each of its member nations’ air defense systems. Brazil’s use of an integrated command poses some unique challenges to the government. As members of the military, controllers are not allowed to form unions (such as the case of NATCA in the US) or to strike.”

“SAUCER STORIES”

16 April 1954
(Centralian Advocate, Alice Springs, Australia)

Source: Trove, National Library of Australia, Canberra, ACT, Australia

The whole article:
“It took the skill of ‘witch doctors,’ and the old men of the tribe to calm down aborigine Sonny who claims that he was almost swept from his horse by a ‘flying saucer’ recently.

Further news of the Santa Teresa saucer incident which took place on March 17 (1954) reached Alice this week, when Mr. Arthur Pope arrived in town. Sonny, who says a ‘thing’ like a big ball with a tail flew near him as he rode over a ridge, worked for Mr. Pope.

It is reported that when Sonny, panic stricken and inarticulate, rode into Santa Teresa, the old men had to work on him for a while before he could talk.

Mr. Pope says that there seems little doubt that the native saw something very strange. He points out that the South Australian ‘flying umbrella’ had the same glassy appearance described by Sonny.

Three more reports of strange sky happenings have been received by the ‘Advocate.’ A brightly coloured object was seen to streak from the heavens and disappear with a loud report followed by a rumbling noise near Hatches Creek recently. A visitor at Carmichael’s Tourist Court heard something fly overhead, low, and at a terrific speed. Another, unconfirmed sighting of a ‘saucer’ has been reported just south of town.”

“ABORIGINES SEE ‘SAUCER’ ”

27 May 1953
(The Canberra Times, ACT, Australia)

Source: Trove, National Library of Australia, Canberra, ACT, Australia

The whole article:
“Aborigines at Garden Point mission, near the Northernmost tip of Australia, have reported seeing a ‘flying saucer.’

An unidentified object flying at ‘tremendous speed’ was seen in the sky at daylight over Shark Bay, Melville Island, a few days ago.

The natives called Brother G. Clark, mission superintendent, who also saw the object.

Brother Clark and the natives said they all saw a ‘flying saucer’ in level flight, trailing flame and smoke, as it disappeared northward.

Brother Clark has reported the incident to naval intelligence.

The natives had not previously heard of a ‘flying saucer.’ ”

UFO News Article:
“AIR FORCE SAYS IT WAS PLANET VENUS –
Explanation Of UFO Rejected”

25 April 1966
(Beaver County Times, Beaver, Pennsylvania)

Quote from the article:
“The Air Force’s explanation of the sighting of an unidentified flying object April 17 in Ohio and Beaver County isn’t being accepted by one of the men who saw the UFO, Sheriff’s Deputy Dale Spaur of Portage County, Ohio.

SPAUR isn’t buying that explanation. He said Saturday ‘I don’t know how much of an investigation they made, but evidently it wasn’t a very lengthy one and it didn’t involve me.’

He said he had two brief phone conversations with Maj. Hector Quintanilla, head of ‘Project Blue Book,’ the Air Force official UFO investigation project. They lasted about two and a half and one and a half minutes, he said.

Spaur and his partner W. L. ‘Barney’ Neff chased the object, which Spaur described as 35 to 40 feet across with a very brigh (read: bright), white glow. He said that the chase started after the object hovered directly over their heads about 150 feet in the air south of Ravenna.

They were joined in the chase at East Palestine by Patrolman Wayne Huston, who also reported seeing the object. Their chase ended at Conway, where they found Patrolman Frank Panzanella along Route 65. The four said they watched the object for about 20 minutes in Conway.

Spaur said he wouldn’t have risked his life, his partner’s or any innocent person’s if he hadn’t thought it was important.

‘I don’t agree that it’s a satellite and I also don’t agree that it’s Venus. I know what I saw and I believe it and I’ll never change my mind.’

William Weitzel, Pittsburgh, investigator for National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, isn’t accepting the Air Force explanation either.”

“Long lost Australian Department
of Defence UAP policy file found!”

By Keith Basterfield, 2 October 2016
(UFOs – scientific research, Campbelltown,
New South Wales, Australia)

Quote from the article:
“In a post dated 1 September 2016, I mentioned one outcome of a 2004 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Australian Department of Defence (DOD). This was, that in asking for a copy of numerous UAP files, they had advised me that one file, numbered AF84/3508 was unable to be located. Over the years since then, it never did turn up. Until now.

Recently, Melbourne researcher Paul Dean, forwarded me the results of one of his FOIA requests to the DOD. Among the various chains of internal back and forth emails responding to Paul’s request, I noted a reference to the long lost file. In November 2015, the file was stated to have been renumbered as 2007/1008750 and was then held at the DOD archives.”

UFO Article (Blog):
“ ‘Cover-up’ or ‘foul-up?’ ”

By Keith Basterfield, 1 September 2016
(UFOs – scientific research, Campbelltown,
New South Wales, Australia)

Quote from the article:
Introduction

The late Professor James E McDonald often debated the issue of whether or not there was a UAP ‘cover-up’ or a ‘foul-up.’ By this, he meant was there an orchestrated campaign by officialdom to withhold information from the general public? Or, was there simply lack of care within government administrative processes? Put simply, ‘their left hand did not know what their right hand was doing.’

Australian examples

Since the days of McDonald, many other researchers, including myself, have pondered the same question. I’ll provide some Australian examples, from my own experience. Are they deliberate actions of the cover-up of events; or just bureaucratic errors?
(1) In 2004, I was informed by the Australian government Department of Transport that their file on the disappearance of pilot Frederick Valentich had been destroyed. In actual fact, the file turned up in October 2011, during a routine search of the holdings of the National Archives of Australia.
(2) Later in the 2000’s, I supplied the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), through the National Archives of Australia (NAA), with a list of certain Australian UAP groups (including the Queensland Flying Saucer Research Society (QFSRS)). I sought any files ASIO held, on any of these groups. ASIO advised they held no such files. About a year later, an ASIO file on the QFSRS turned up in the NAA.

A new anomaly

Today, another such example was found. In 2004, I submitted an FOI request to the Australian Department of Defence (DOD) for a series of UAP files, for which I provided a list of file numbers.

Included in this list was a file numbered AF 84/3508. The DOD advised that they were unable to locate this file.”

UFO Article (Blog):
“ ‘OPREP-3’ – A Classified US Military
Reporting Channel For UFO Incidents? – Part 6”

By Paul Dean, 24 October 2016
(UFOs – Documenting The Evidence, Melbourne, Australia)

Quote from the article:
“Previously, in Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of this series, I highlighted a number of occasions, during the 1970’s, where the US military’s OPREP–3 reporting system has been used to alert top–level military commands and components of provocative UFO activity near military bases. In Part 4, I highlighted a category of OPREP–3 reporting which was specifically designed for the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) and Aerospace Defence Command (ADCOM), to report general unknown radar tracks, and, ‘Unidentified Flying Objects – UFOs.’ In Part 5, I moved on from the actual OPREP–3 reporting of UFOs, and into the fallout that some of these post–Project Blue Book UFO events caused within the US military and intelligence community. In summary, what started out as a brief appraisal of the OPREP–3 reporting system, specifically in relation to apparent UFO incidents, has morphed into a wider study of declassified documents which deal with UFO case investigation, evaluation and high level concern long after the US government relieved itself, publicly, of the UFO headache.

In this Part 6, I will continue my study, this time focusing on records released by the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and the National Military Command Center (NMCC) in relation to a series of possible UFO events over Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. These events, which occurred in November, 1975, followed similar aerial intrusions over Wurthsmith AFB, Michigan, Loring AFB, Maine, and Falconbridge AFS in Ontario, Canada. Minot AFB in North Dakota, and other bases were likewise affected by unidentified activity during the same period. Most of these bases were assigned to the United States Air Force’s (USAF) Strategic Air Command (SAC), and, had nuclear weapons. This unusual chapter in UFO history only came to light after researchers Barry Greenwood, Robert Todd, Lawrence Fawcett and Todd Zechel used the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain pertinent records from military agencies and commands.”
