UFO TV news report:
“UFO SIGHTING?”

(Unknown date)
(CLTV, Oak Brook, Illinois)

In addition to the TV news report, the video shows an unedited pre-interview discussion between news anchor Jim Wagner and Jon Hilkevich (Chicago Tribune transportation reporter) regarding the O’Hare UFO case (also reported here on 1 May 2009).

On 7 November 2006, at 4:30 p.m., close to a dozen United Airlines employees, both pilots and supervisors, saw what appeared to be a disk shaped UFO which hovered over Gate C-17 at the Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

The UFO was visible for two minutes before it shot straight up through the overcast sky.

U.S. Government UFO Document:
U.S. Navy Letter To UFO Researcher Robert Todd

12 June 1978
(Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Florida)

Source: NICAP.org

In this letter, Naval Air Station Jacksonville responds to Robert Todd’s request for information about the UFO sightings that occurred at the Pinecastle Electronic Warfare Range, Ocala National Forest, Ocala, Florida, on 14 May 1978.

The letter is written by N. P. Young, Public Affairs Officer:

Quote from the document:
“2205 – Received a phone call from a lady in Silver Glenn Springs wondering if we had flare drops and was informed we had no operations.

2215 – Received a phone call from a man in Silver Glenn Springs wondering if we had aircraft flying in the area. He was informed that no aircrafts were operating in the area.

2220 – TD2 Collins from MSQ 102 went to the tower to check visual siting of any aircraft, then went to operate MSQ 102 to scan the area.

/s/  ROBERT J. CLARK

Excerpts from Pinecastle Electronic Warfare Range Duty Officer Log relative to UFO sightings.”

(NICAP.org)

The whole UFO case report (by Dan Wilson):
“May 14, 1978; Pinecastle Electronic Warfare Range, Florida
At 10:00 and 10:10 p.m. local time, the Pinecastle Duty Officer at the U.S. Navy Pinecastle Electronic Warfare Range received two calls from unidentified civilians reporting a UFO with red, green and white lights. The control tower was notified and the watchstander observed stationary lights at an estimated altitude of 1600 feet in the area reported by the callers. Orders went out to activate the MSQ-102 Radar. After a 20 minute warm up the radar detected a unidentified blip ‘fluttering’ over the CD Tower. The tracking computer was put on the unidentified target which was showing very little movement. The target was observed for approximately one hour when it began to move at about 400-500 knots. The radar operator said he tried to ‘train’ the radar on the object but it accelerated rapidly, evading his efforts to lock and track it on the computer. When he caught up with the object, it reversed direction and started back toward Pinecastle. The radar operator finally locked on the object after it had practically stopped moving. Shortly after the target broke radar lock. Collins, the radar operator had been operating radar for most of his eight years of service. A total of eight Naval personnel visually observed red, green and white lights of the object from the control tower for over an hour.”

UFO News Article:
“Radarman, 12 others spot UFO”

17 May 1978
(The Day, New London, Connecticut)

The whole article:
“ ‘I’ve never seen anything like it,’ says Timothy Collins, a Navy radar technician who tracked an unidentified object over the Florida sky. ‘And I don’t want to see anything like it again.’

Collins, from Cambridge, Mass., was among at least a dozen workers at the Navy’s Pinecastle Electronic Warfare Range who said they spotted brightly lit objects late Sunday (14 May 1978).

The Navy personnel, interviewed by the Ocala Star-Banner, said one object seemed to hover, then turned abruptly and sped off. Computer-equipped radar could not follow the UFO, they said.

‘The computer wouldn’t handle it,’ said Lt. Cmdr. John Sullivan, commander of the range, used by the Navy to train its combat pilots in tactics for avoiding enemy weapons.

Robert J. Clark of Detroit, duty officer Sunday night, said curious civilians began calling, including one man who said he and seven others on State Road 19 near Silver Glen Springs (Ocala National Forest) had seen an object 50 or 60 in diameter with flashing lights.

The Naval Air station at Jacksonville said no Navy planes were in the area.

‘So we got out the binoculars and went up on the tower,’ Clark said. ‘We located an object due north, approximately 1,500 feet above the trees. We watched it for 15 or 20 minutes and it looked like it was pretty stationary.’

Then, he said, the object came up on Pinecastle’s radar.

‘We locked in on it and then all of a sudden it was gone,’ Clark said.

Collins, a Navy radar technician for eight years, was manning the scope.

‘First it was heading south and then it was heading north. All in the split of a second. Planes just don’t have a turning radius like that,’ Collins said.”

Wikipedia article: “Naval Air Station Cecil Field”:

Quote from the Wikipedia article:
“Naval Air Station Cecil Field or NAS Cecil Field (IATA: NZC, ICAO: KNZC, FAA LID: NZC) was a United States Navy air base, located in Duval County, Florida. Prior to 1999, NAS Cecil Field was the largest military base in terms of acreage in the Jacksonville, Florida area.

NAS Cecil Field consisted of four separate facilities, the NAS Cecil Field Complex (Cecil Field), Outlying Field Whitehouse (OLF Whitehouse), the Yellow Water Weapons Department and the Pinecastle [Pine Castle] Electronic Warfare Target Area / Warfare Range. Including nearly 2,500 acres (10 km²) at OLF Whitehouse, the NAS Cecil Field complex consisted of 22,939 acres (92.8 km²); in addition, the base leased another 8,379 acres (33.9 km²). By late 1999, approximately 17,200 acres (69.6 km²) were transferred to the civilian sector in the form of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, while the remainder was transferred to Naval Air Station Jacksonville.”

Wikipedia article: “Ocala National Forest”:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocala_National_Forest

Quote from the Wikipedia article:
“The United States Navys Pinecastle Bombing Range in the Ocala National Forest is the only place on the East Coast where the Navy can do live impact training. The Navy drops nearly 20,000 bombs a year at the site, a few hundred of which are live. The Pinecastle Bombing Range is a fenced 5,760 acres (23.3 km2) area, with the eastern edge of the range located about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of State Road 19 and the Camp Ocala campgrounds, and one-half mile (800 m) west of the Farles Lake campground. F/A-18 Hornet jet fighters and other aircraft take off from Naval Air Station Jacksonville or from aircraft carriers off the Florida coast, fly low over the forest, and drop their bombs in the middle 450 acres (1.8 km2) of the range. P-3 Orion and P-8 Poseidon aircraft will also use an instrumented range in the southeast quadrant of Lake George to conduct aerial mining training utilizing inert 500lb mines. All air-to-ground exercises using conventional ordnance up to and including 500 pounds (230 kg) MK 82 bombs and five-inch (127 mm) Zuni rockets are authorized. Napalm and High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) are prohibited. Live ordnance is restricted to the Live Ordnance Impact Area; inert ordnance is used on all other targets. Pinecastle targets have also been certified for laser operations. The Navy has used the area for target practice for 50 years under a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service.”

Hundreds of curious Borneans today cranned their necks to watch a bright star-like object which appeared to be rotating in the sky over the oil town of Seria, emitting twin jets of vapour. ‘Flying Saucer,’ said the spectators for want of a better explanation. They estimated its height at 30,000' and said it was visible for 40 minutes. Similar phenomena have been reported over Borneo several times recently.” (Page 2)

UFO News Article:
“Youth Says He Saw UFO Land”

19 July 1965
(The Spokesman-Review, Spokane, Washington)

The whole article:
“Latin Americans watched for flying saucers Sunday as reports of a landing spread across Latin America.

A youth was reported as saying he saw a four-legged object touch down for two minutes in broad daylight Saturday (17 July 1965) on a beach just across the River Plata in Uruguay.

He was quoted in Buenos Aires as saying the object shot skywards in a blinding flash after a tug hooted a siren.

One of several Uruguayans who claimed to have seen the object on Honda Beach said it had a circular center, with flattened, oval extensions on either side.

A Roman Catholic review, commenting on the recent spate of strange sightings in Latin America, said if there had been visitors from other worlds one could be glad that they did not appear to harbour sinister intentions.

The description by the Uruguayan tallied with a photograph published here on the front page on Sunday’s tabloid newspaper El Mundo. It was claimed to have been taken as an unidentified object hovered over a gas plant in the southern city of Bahia Blanca (Argentina).

El Mundo said it was submitting the negatives to local scientific authorities for study to dispel doubts and to further scientific investigation.

Meanwhile, new reports of sightings of unidentified flying objects over Buenos Aires during the night were received at newspaper offices, already deluged by reports of a widely seen phenomenon Friday night (16 July 1965).”

The whole article:
“The Kuwait government is setting up a committee to investigate recent reports of unidentified flying objects over this Persian Gulf emirate.

Minister of State Abdul Aziz Hussein told reporters the committee will be made up of scientists, civil aviation officials and Interior Ministry representatives.

The most recent UFO report came from a seven-man repair crew at an oil field near the Iraqi border Nov. 10. The crew said ‘a cylindrical body much resembling a Boeing 747 jumbo jet with a red dome’ landed 250 yards from the oil field, stayed on the ground seven minutes and then took off silently.”
