“The Air Force said today it has an open mind about unidentified flying objects – UFO’s – and makes no attempt to hush talk about flying saucers.

Retired Marine Major Donald E. Keyhoe, head of a group called National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, told newsmen this week the Pentagon has a top level policy of discounting all UFO reports. He said the Air Force over the years has used ridicule to discredit sightings.

Project Blue Book has been unable to explain the 646 other UFO incidents and of these merely says: “The description of the object or its motion cannot be correlated with any known object or phenomena.”

1.  Copies of this report will be furnished the Commanding General, IDF, and Air Attache, England.

2.  The following unidentified radar plots were observed on radar scopes of the 932nd Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron on 
3 February 1953:

a.  1825Z  Bearing 345° Range 90 nautical miles 
(65° 25’ N; 23° 36’ W).

b.  1827Z  Plot faded after remaining motionless for two minutes.

c.  1836Z  Bearing 341° Range 112 nautical miles 
(65° 45’ N; 24° 08’ W).

d.  1849Z  Bearing 348° Range 118 nautical miles 
(65° 55’ N; 23° 38’ W).

3.  There were no aircraft, either military or civilian, operating in the area of the plots according to all military and civilian sources contacted.

4.  These plots remain unidentified, although the possibility exists that civilian aircraft were operating in this area unknown to the Icelandic CAA.

5.  The apparent lack of motion indicated during two full minutes is still unexplained.

UFO News Article: “FLYING OBJECT SIGHTED”

“AN unidentified flying object yesterday afternoon (16 March 1954) appeared to ‘accompany’ a cane train part of the way from Baddow to Maryborough before abruptly changing direction and disappearing at a fantastic speed.

The incident was related afterwards by the driver of the train, Mr. A. Jesse, of 122 Woodstock-street, who said that his fireman, Mr. G. Jensen, noticed the object first as the train was leaving Baddow station, at 4.24.

Mr. Jesse said that the object appeared to be of a square-cut shape and was devoid of wings, tail, propellers and other conventional aviation aids. It was so brilliantly lit – apparently by the late afternoon sun – that it was difficult to look straight at it for long. No engine noise was heard.

Although he could not estimate the height or speed of the ‘thing’ Mr. Jesse felt that it was travelling higher and faster than the average plane.

He said that the object seemed to glide along, more or less parallel to the railway line, until it was roughly over Pallas-street. Then it veered away to the north and disappeared in a matter of seconds.”
