UFO News Article (Blog):
“Here’s to the new normal”

By Billy Cox, 22 October 2013
(De Void, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Florida)

Billy Cox reports about the Peruvian government’s UFO research department, Departamento de Investigación de Fenómenos Aéreos Anómalos (Department of Investigation of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena) (DIFAA):

The article mentions Peru’s most famous UFO incident. The Peruvian fighter pilot Lieutenant (later Air Force Commander) Oscar Alfonso Santa Maria Huertas had a dog-fight with a UFO over La Joya/Mariano Melgar Air Base, Arequipa, Peru, on 11 April 1980. Huertas fired on – and hit the UFO – but the bullets had no effect on the unknown object. Huertas flew a Sukhoi Su-22 fighter-bomber airplane.

UFO Journal Issue:
“Skylook”

No. 21, August 1969
(Midwest UFO Network, Stover, Missouri)

The issue contains the news article, “Silver Disc Seen in Michigan.”

The whole article:
“A state trooper from the Jonesville Post and a motorist driving along US-12 reported sighting an unidentified object in the sky heading northwest and photographed it Tuesday (July 2nd) (1969) at 2:05 p.m.

The driver, Ray Ostarmyer, of 9603 Bay Cuel Road, Erie, spotted the object, described as a silver disc, while driving west toward Moscow, and stopped along the highway.

Trooper D. J. Fenton on his way to the post, stopped to question Ostarmyer. Both Fenton and Ostarmyer took pictures of the mysterious object and reports from the police photographic laboratory in East Lansing are pending.

‘The object appeared to be semi-round. At times it appeared to be elongated, like a blimp, and other tines it appeared to be round,’ Trooper Fenton said. He estimated the elevation to be 1,500 feet. ‘It was stationary for a period, and then took off,’ Fenton reported.

Clinton C. Williams Jr, APRO investigator, is following the developments, and he has found there are numerous sightings in Hillsdale County during the summer months.

UFO News Article:
“UFOs ‘Invade’ Colorado Area”

19 May 1967 (Deseret News, Salt Lake City, Utah)

The article reports on a 1967 Southern Colorado UFO flap:

Quote from the article:
“Ben Kin, employed at the Sand Dunes National Monument, told his story:

He was driving on the King Ranch, near the foot of Mount Blanca, when an object emerged from behind rocks and began following his car. It was shaped like a football and garish light from the strange object lighted the interior of his car.

The UFO stayed about 150 feet in the air and 150 feet from his car. It followed him for about a mile, stopping when he stopped.

Two other persons reported seeing a similar object the same night.

Mrs. Charles Blundell, an artist whose husband is a ranger at the Sand Dunes, has painted a picture of an object she said she saw over the Dunes.

UFO News Article:
“CIGAR-SHAPED OBJECT IN SKY –
Clarke Sisters Sight ‘UFO’ at Dubuque”

19 August 1965 (The Telegraph-Herald, Dubuque, Iowa and
East Dubuque, Illinois)

Two Clarke College sisters sighted a small cylindrical shaped UFO over Dubuque (Eastern Iowa) on 18 August 1965, at around 11:30 p.m., The Telegraph-Herald reports:

The article also informs about a rash of UFO incidents (police officers were among the witnesses) that occurred in the south-eastern and western parts of Iowa in early August 1965.

Quote from the article:
“For about five minutes the object was fixed in one position, they said, pointed toward a radio tower near Flora Park.

The rest of the time, the light danced about in the sky, and as it faded away it appeared to dwindle into the west, they reported.

The glow at the end of the object appeared like the pink flame from an acetylene torch, Sister Justa said.

At that time, citizens in the southeast and western parts of the state reported seeing various strange lights in the sky. Most of the reports told of red, green and white lights appearing, then moving away quickly within a few minutes.

Law enforcement officials at Coralville, Ia., near Iowa City (South-Eastern Iowa), and a news photographer at Washington, Ia., about 25 miles south of Iowa City, were among the dozens of citizens who reported sightings.”

UFO News Article:
“Another UFO Sighted Here”

16 December 1968 (The Gadsden Times, Alabama)

A UFO flap occurred in the Gadsden (North-Eastern Alabama) area in December 1968, The Gadsden Times reports:

The UFO incidents were witnessed by police officers and several civilians. One of the police officers sighted 2 cylindrical shaped UFOs.

Quote from the article:
“Another police officer made a sighting late Saturday afternoon.

He reported seeing two cigar-shaped craft, each ‘about the size of a boxcar,’ flying across the sky. They appeared to be made of a shiny metal, like aluminium, he said. He watched them for a few minutes until they disappeared behind a cloud.

The officer said the objects could not possibly have been any type of plane or conventional craft.”
