Radar showed that the unknown object was located

80 kilometres (50 miles) north west of Kyushu, according
to Brad Sparks (NICAP.org).

12:07 p.m. [9:07 p.m.?] A radar operator tracked unidentified target at 2,700 [2,100?] mph. (Berliner; FUFOR Index)

Dan Wilson:

1207 to 1209 (MT?)  Location of observer: Coordinates 129* 51' E/ 34* 19' N.  Observers: Det. # 21, 618th AC&W Squadron.  Manner of observation: The sighting was made on a TPS - 1B type radar.  Speed of object: 2700 mph.”

Bright red or flame color. Discs shaped. One made rapid climb into clouds.

Observer in drive in first thought objects to be ‘falling stars’ but noticed that they made abrupt changes in course. Once two objects were seen at same time.

UFO News Article: “WORK CREW SPOTS FLYING SAUCERS OVER A-TEST SITE”

“Flying Saucers in the area of the Nevada test site, where important new atomic tests are in progress, were reported Thursday [17 April 1952].

An Air Force technical sergeant and four civilian workers at the Nellis Air Force Base, near Las Vegas, said they saw 18 circular objects flying an easterly course which carried them over or very close to the test site.

Those who reported seeing the objects were T/S Orville Lawson, Rudy Toncer, sheet metal shop foreman, and sheet metal shop workers R.K. Van Houtin, Edward Gregory and Charles Ruliffson.

The objects went by at 12:05 p.m. Van Houtin saw them first and then called attention of the others to them.

The men watched the saucers for about 30 seconds.”
