UFO News Article:
“Airship spooks Franklin County”

14 February 2005
(Sun Journal, Lewiston, Maine)

Quote from the article:
“In the winter or 1915, the Franklin Journal reported a ‘mysterious airship haunting Western Maine.’ Residents out at night were spooked by the sound of humming overhead and a beam of light illuminating the ground.

Herbert Parker saw the airship from West Farmington. He said he could plainly see the beam of light pierce the night sky as the machine dove in various directions ‘rising and falling and cutting big circles in the air.’ Parker watched until it finally disappeared, heading in the direction of New Sharon.

Later that same evening, John Higgins and his wife watched the airship for more than an hour as it maneuvered over Clearwater Pond. Higgins claimed that just before it flew out of sight, it was joined by a second airship.”

NOTE: The article is presented in the “Franklin Sun Journal” section of the newspaper.

Quote from the post:
“Well, on to my first statement of opinion ............

UFOs are real. The percentage of doubt in my mind is so small that I’m tempted to slide from mere belief into certainty.”

UFO News Article (Blog):
“Back when you couldn't ignore it ...”

By Billy Cox, 20 November 2015
(De Void, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Florida)

Billy Cox reports about the UFO project (“UFOs: A History/The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse”of veteran researcher Loren E. Gross:

http://devoid.blogs.heraldtribune.com/15407/back-when-you-couldnt-ignore-it/

Quote from the article:
“Drawn from original newspaper, magazine, military and civilian reports, ‘every UFO book available,’ and collections from the likes of crusading atmospheric physicist Dr. James McDonald, this online collection at http://sohp.us/collections/ufos-a-history/ is the culmination of a lifetime’s work from veteran researcher Loren Gross.

‘Remarkably,’ Gross states in his introduction in comparing military accounts with civilian accounts, ‘there is very little overlap aside from well-known incidents. The Air Force explanations are a joke and I paid little attention to them. Having reviewed tens of thousands of sighting reports, I did not use every case while compiling the UFO histories – only the ones I thought were the best.’

A joke indeed. In a verdict that rendered the USAF a laughingstock to the residents of Levelland, the Pentagon kissed off the 11/3/57 incident this way: ‘Weather phenomenon of electrical nature, generally classified as ‘Ball Lightning’ or ‘St. Elmo’s Fire,’ caused by stormy conditions in the area, including mist, rain, thunderstorms and lightning.’ Nevermind that the skies over Levelland that evening were relatively clear that evening, that not a drop of rain fell on the west Texas town during the event, or that some of these split-second ‘ball lightning’ incidents elasticized for three to four minutes.”
