UFO Case Reports:
“UFO CASEBOOK: 1950”

(NICAP.org)

Quote from the web page:
“This selection of ‘UFO CASEBOOK’ contains the Blue Book ‘Unknowns’ and will soon provide the best links to these cases (where available). Appropriate additions to these and other Casebook files, in particular, those filed AFTER Blue Book closed down in December of 1969, will eventually be provided by reputable private researchers and official UFO organizations.

UFO Report Chronology:
“UFO Sightings in 1950”

(UFO DNA, U.S.A.)

Many of the 1950 UFO incidents were witnessed by military personnel:

Quote from the web page:
“22 January 1950 04:40 (a.m.) – Kodiak, Alaska, USA – US Navy patrol plane and USS Tillamook encounter a ‘threatening’ radar target and electromagnetic effects”

NOTE: Each UFO case report contains a link to a map of the location of the UFO incident.

UFO Report:
“1950 UFO Chronology
and Graphic Evidence of UFO Reality”

Created: 22 December 2005,
Updated: 13 November 2013
(NICAP.org)

Quote from the UFO report:
“This is a 21-page report on an on-going project involving a number of people. With the help of William Wise (Project Blue Book Archive), and Dan Wilson (digging out the cases from my checklist), the task becomes much easier. But without Brad Sparks’ updated list, the Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns, the entire project would have been impossible. And our thanks also go to Jean Waskiewicz who created the online NICAP DBase (NSID) that helped make it possible to link from the cases to the reports themselves.

This was a very important year in UFOlogy. Some of the best photographic evidence was obtained that year: April 23, Red Bud, Illinois; April 27, White Sands, New Mexico (Cinetheodolite film taken by camera tracking station); May 11, McMinnville, Oregon (Trent photos); May 24, White Sands (Cinetheodolite films); June 27, Louisville, Kentucky (Hixenbaugh movie film); August 15, Great Falls, Montana (Mariana color film); August 31, Alamogordo, New Mexico (Project TWINKLE film). Even more important is the fact that the April 27 White Sands tracking was a successful triangulation!!!

Then there were all the sightings and radar-jamming and radiation incidents at Oak Ridge (in particular, Oct 29 & 30th). The Oak Ridge story included the FBI being put on ‘immediate high alert’.

UFO News Article:
“Planes Make Futile Chase Of Flying Disk”

19 September 1950
(The Tuscaloosa News, Tuscaloosa-Northport, Alabama)

Hundreds of Poplar Bluff, South-Eastern Missouri residents sighted a UFO on the afternoon of 18 September 1950, The Tuscaloosa News informs:

Quote from the article:
“Police, airport and radio station personnel said ‘just about everyone in Poplar Bluff’ saw the mysterious object for five or six hours yesterday afternoon.

Civil Aeronautics Authority workers at Maiden, 28 miles southeast of here, plotted its southeasterly course from 4. p.m. until dark.

A National Guard sergeant at Memphis finally confirmed that the F-51’s climbed to 39,000 feet but could not make contact with the object. He did not say whether the pilots actually saw the object.”

UFO News Article:
“More Flying Disk Stories Heard;
Now Over Carolinas”

10 March 1950 (The Bend Bulletin, Oregon)

The article contains reports on two March 1950 mass UFO sightings:

On 10 March (according to NICAP.org), a disk shaped UFO hovered over Orangeburg, South Carolina for 15 minutes, then disappeared leaving a vapour trail (night-time sighting) and a bright, disk shaped UFO was sighted over Van Nuys, Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley), California on 8 March (according to the website, UFO DNA).

Quote from the article:
“Another flying saucer was reported yesterday by residents of Van Nuys, Calif., who told police they saw a bright disk flying about 400 feet in the air. All witnesses said they were sure it was not an aircraft of any known variety.

Composer Eddie Coffman and actor Reed Hadley and his wife said they studied the disk through a telescope. Coffman said it appeared to be 50 feet in diameter and have a dark smudge on the top.”
