The file cover shows that the original security classification of the UAP file (NAA file series E499, control symbol C21/4/4, titled “Unidentified Flying Objects Sightings,” date range 1959 to 1965, barcode 4081230, the Darwin office of the National Archives of Australia) was “Confidential,” according to Keith Basterfield:

The UAP file (NAA file series B595, control symbol 21/1/387, PART 2 titled “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena,” barcode 9044809, the Canberra office of the National Archives of Australia) was opened on 10 August 1959 and closed on 11 August 1965, Keith Basterfield informs:
