UFO News Article:
“ ‘Large, bright light’ seen Monday”
(Unknown Date) (Unknown Newspaper)
(news-3800thspsvets.blogspot.com)

The article reports about a radar/visual UFO incident that
occurred near Maxwell Air Force Base (Montgomery, Alabama
in the early 1980s, according to the blogspot:

Quote from the article:
“Base Security Sgt. James Hall said that beginning about 11:40 p.m. Sunday until about 1:45 a.m. Monday, the object was moving ‘kind of erratically’ in the sky just to the north of the base.

During that time, John Bolender of Maxwell Flight Control, was manning the radar screen.

‘When they (the witnesses) called, I had just gotten on duty at 12 (midnight),’ Bolender recalled. ‘Between 2 and 2:30 I observed a target about two miles west of Maxwell moving northwest toward the Pratville airport.

‘Then I watched it as far as about one mile south of the (Prattville) airport and then I lost radar contact,’ he said.”

UFO Magazine Article:
“What Radar Tells About Flying Saucers”
by Donald E. Keyhoe, 1952
(TRUE Magazine, U.S.A.)
(NICAP.org)

A large part of the article focuses on the July 1952 Washington, D.C. UFO incidents:

Quote from the article:
“In a new investigation of the flying saucer, TRUE Magazine has secured Air Force confirmation of these important facts:

1. Since 1947, hundreds of unidentified aerial objects have been tracked by radar operators of the Air Force, Navy and Civil Aeronautics Administration.

2. More than 300 times, Air Force interceptor planes have chased mysterious lights and unidentified objects revealed by radar scopes.

3. Strange round objects have shown on interceptors gun camera pictures and on photographs from the ground at a missile testing range.

4. The temperature inversion or mirage answer to radar sightings widely publicized by Dr. Donald H. Menzel of Harvard has failed to satisfy Force investigators because he has not attempted to explain any specific saucer cases in official files.”

UFO Paper:
“Top-Secret 1949 Document”
by Jan L. Aldrich
(NICAP.org)

The document is titled “REPORT BY THE DIRECTOR OF INTELLIGENCE, USAF to the JOINT INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE on UNIDENTIFIED AERIAL OBJECTS”:

Quote from the paper:
“CAUS had been looking for this document for more than 20 years. It was found in the National Archives II in College Park, Maryland, in the USAF Air Force Director of Intelligence files entitled A General File July 1945--December 1954: Records Relating to the Requirements for and the Collection and Dissemination of Intelligence" (Records Group 341, Entry 214A) during research for PROJECT 1947 in July 1997. The JIC document had not been found previously because it had been classified top secret and was not in the records checked to satisfy the previous FOIA requests. This discovery demonstrates the usefulness of on site records inspection by researchers.”
